Bird -- Georgia Hartman Bird, 101, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died on Tuesday, February 27, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Irene Squires and husband Bill of Enid, OK, Norma Brewster and husband, Vernon of Albuquerque, and Wilma Sullivan of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Patricia Eubank, Laura Wallin and husband, Scott, and Lee Ann Sullivan; grandsons, Bob Squires and wife, Carolyn, David Squires and wife, Nancy, Steve Brewster, and Mike Sullivan and wife, Ruth; by ten great-grandchildren and by great-great twins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat on November 29, 1977. Georgia was born February 5, 1900 to John and Lottie Hartman on a farm 5 miles north of Breckenridge, Oklahoma that had been homesteaded by her father in 1893. She married Pat Bird on October 16, 1921 and the couple had three daughters. Georgia was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was an avid rug hooker and China painter. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We will all miss her, but it's comforting to know she is at peace with God in Heaven. Services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming NE with Dr. Charles Crutchfield, officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Interment to follow at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Bruington -- Alfred Eugene "Gene" Bruington, 87, passed away in Albuquerque Saturday, February 24, 2001, after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. He was born on November 27, 1913 in Wichita Falls, TX to George H. and Rowena Bruington. He is survived by his children, Stephanie Segura and husband, Floyd of White Rock, Fay Beals and husband, Bard of Albuquerque, and Terry E. Bruington and wife, Dwayla of Gilbert, AZ; six grandchildren; brothers, George Bruington of Albuquerque, John Bruington and wife, Flo of Albuquerque, and Charles Bruington and wife, Dorothy of Kingman, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Helen Marjorie (Terry) Bruington; his parents; his brothers, James, Robert, and Grafton Bruington; sister, Rowena Sherwood; and an infant brother and sister. Gene was raised near Santa Fe, NM and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1932. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1942 and rose to the rank of Major while serving in the China-Burma-India Theater during WWII and in the Korean War. Gene was honorably discharged in 1953 and was employed by the Zia Company in Los Alamos from 1953 to 1979. He was a member of the church of Christ Congregations in Los Alamos and in Santa Fe. A once avid fisherman and lover of the great outdoors, Gene always expressed that any day could be better if one was on a mountain stream or in the woods. He was also a passionate collector of stuff. After his retirement, he and Helen moved to Santa Fe and lived there for 20 years. In 1999, he moved to Albuquerque to live with his much loved older brother, George, who took the most marvelous care of him for almost the last two years of Genes life. They were quite a team. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving and wonderful care given to Gene by the staff at the Albuquerque Manor Nursing Care facility during the last days of his life. Your kindness will always be remembered. Because of Genes great passion to help disadvantaged/disabled children and adults, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Children's Home, Manuelito Navajo Children's Home in Gallup, Albuquerque Help for the Homeless or the charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. Interment of cremains will take place Monday, March 12, 2001, 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Radisson in Santa Fe.

Dailey -- Mr. Wayne A. Dailey Sr., 83, a resident of New Laguna, New Mexico passed away on February 28, 2001. Mr. Dailey is the beloved husband of 54 years to Mrs. Eleanor Dailey; he is also survived by his daughters, Georgia Pedro and Opal Bowman and husband, Timothy; one sister, Daisey Maria; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one uncle, Charles Dailey; six nieces; two nephews; many other cousins and friends. Mr. Dailey is preceded in death by his son, Wayne A. Dailey Jr. Mr. Dailey served as a member Elder and officer at the Casa Blanca Presbyterian Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II, served on the Local A..A..R. P. Board, participated in the Senior Olympics and was a recent resident at the Laguna Rainbow Elder Care Center. A Prayer Service/Wake Service will be held Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the family home in New Laguna. Visitaiton will be at the family after 3:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Casa Blanca Presbyterian Church in Casa Blanca, NM with Rev. David Preininger and Randy Pence officiating. Interment will follow at the Casa Blanca Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Gregory Dailey, Jeffrey Dailey, Ryan Dailey, Melinda Bowman, Timothy Bowman, Lloyd Dailey and Loren Maria; Honorary will be Charles Dailey, Louis Dailey Jr., Andrew Ondelacy, Jack Ondelacy and Pete Garcia. Barnhart -- William R. Barnhart (Bill), returned to the Lord, Sunday, February 25, 2001. He was born in Santa Fe, NM on June 10, 1940 to the late Ernest Charles & Hazel (Galbraith) Barnhart. Bill is the beloved husband of Corie W. Barnhart. He is also survived by five children, Debbie Byram, Carey Witten, Jennifer Kneip and husband, Clint, Jennifer Suzanne Hawkins and husband, Joel and Bill Norman, III; and eight grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Memorial Services will be held, Friday, March 2, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW with Pastor Bob Brown and Pastor Bill Reid officiating.

Hodges -- Paul Edward Hodges, 70 of Albuquerque, N.M. passed away at his home on February 23, 2001 at 5:45 a.m. Paul was born in Shawnee, OK. He grew up on the family farm in Belen, N.M. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea and spent the next 50 years in the floor covering business in Farmington and Albuquerque. Paul and his loving wife, Jeanette were married for 47 years. They have two sons, Tom Hodges and family and Scott Hodges and family. Paul was a great story teller, he was also known to many by a special nickname "Oink", but most of all he was a special husband, father and grandfather. He was loved and respected by many. Paul is also survived by his brother, Richard and wife, Doris and family of Farmington; and in-laws, Joyce Hodges and family of Belen, Twila Hodges and family of Apache, OK, Christine Hodges and family of Albuquerque, Jim and Yvette Marshall of Albuquerque, Charlie and Karen Marshall of Sandy Valley, NV and dozens of nieces and nephews and dear friends and neighbors. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Charles, his mother, Manilla and sister, Ona Mae; also three brothers, Charles, Vernon and Harold. Cremation arrangements by Sunrise Society of New Mexico. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris NE (between Candelaria and Comanche), Reverend Tom Huffman officiating. Pate -- John D. Pate, 85, of Fort Collins, CO, died Saturday, February 24, 2001 in a Fort Collins nursing home. A Private Family Service will be held. Mr. Pate was born December 11, 1915, in Nathan, AK, to Ben D. and Ada Pate. He graduated from Central High School in Washington D. C. and from I.B.M. School in San Antonio, TX. He married Aileen Millikin on October 10, 1940. Mr. Pate served for over three years in World War II as a military customer engineer at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. After World War II, he was a manager of computer operations at Kirtland-Sandia Base in Albuquerque, NM where he retired in 1972 after 28 years of service. After retirement, he and his wife, enjoyed traveling, bridge, fishing and golf. They moved to Fort Collins in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Aileen; his sister, VeEstelle Wilson of San Diego; and two daughters and their spouses, Dick and Cindy Ahrenkiel of Lakewood and Charles and Jennifer Carpenter of Fort Collins. He is also survived by three grandsons, Peter and Tom Martin, and Andrew Carpenter.

Rollie -- Leone Michner Rollie, 89, passed away February 24, 2001. Church Services will be held at the First United Methodist at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Jeff Symonds officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park-Garden of Devotion. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 21, 1911 to Florence and ML Michner and died in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She attended the University of New Mexico where she met her husband, Allen B. Rollie. She was a resident of Gallup, New Mexico from 1932 to 1989. When Allen retired, they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. Upon his passing in 1996, she returned to reside close to her family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Gallup and St. John's Methodist Church of Albuquerque. She belonged to the Methodist Women's Group and helped with coordinating the move from the old Methodist Church on Aztec and Third Street to the present building located on Red Rock Drive. She was a volunteer with Girl Scouts, and Easter Seals. She was an active member of PEO in Albuquerque. She was a loving mother and took great pride and joy in her family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Florence Michner, her father, ML Michner, her husband, Allen B. Rollie and her brother, John Gray. She is survived by her loving family of three children, Arlene High of Gallup, Karen Head of Albuquerque, Allen B. Rollie II of Kingston, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Charles High III, Gregory High, Michele Price, Wade Head, Stephanie Head, Adrianne Rollie and Mathew Rollie. Visitation will be at Rollie Mortuary on Tuesday, February 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive relatives and friends after the services at the home of Arlene and Charles High, 1711 South Cliff Drive, Gallup, New Mexico. Rollie Mortuary of Gallup is in charge of arrangements.
