He is survived by his wife, Reeva Sue; brother, Bill; sister, Beulah; son, Marvin; daughter, Rita; granddaughter, Gretchen; and their families. A country lawyer for 35 years, Marvin will be remembered for his generous heart, fierce determination and sage advice. He taught us the importance of family and to nourish our independent spirit. He will be sorely missed by family and friends, until we meet again someday.Private services will be followed by a"prayer meeting" on March 10, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rio Grande Cantina.

Bartman -- Henry Bartman, 81, a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 28, 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Yvette Padilla and husband, Marvin of Albuquerque; sons, Jack V. Bartman and wife, Monica of Edgewood and Scott M. Bartman and wife, Katheryn of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Shawn Padilla, Michelle Padilla, Marvin Padilla Jr., Christopher Bartman, and Jordy, Jason, Jeremy and Amanda Jones; and great-grandchildren, Megan Padilla, Shawn Padilla Jr., Clayton John Padilla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeleine on April 4, 1991. Mr. Bartman was born in Toluca, IL on January 18, 1920. He worked at a Munition's factory during World War II. He married Madeleine E. Goldsmith on November 6, 1941, and moved to Iowa for a farming career,then to California in 1954. He worked as a U.A.W. worker at Douglas Aircraft as a Senior Hydraulic Line Specialist. He also contributed to the space program. Henry traveled the United States after retiring in 1981. He moved back to Albuquerque to be with his family until the passing of his wife. He loved baseball and was an Atlanta Brave's fan. Services will be held, Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul NE, with Rev. Norton Scrimshire officiating. Entombment will follow at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum. Benjamin -- Earnest T. Benjamin went home to the Lord on Friday, February 23, 2001. He was the proud owner of J & B Sweeping and Striping Company for many years in Albuquerque. Mr. Benjamin is survived by his wife, Joyce Benjamin; daughters, Janice Hamilton of Seattle, WA, Lisa Benjamin of Denver, CO; sons, Boyd Benjamin, Rory Benjamin and Warren Benjamin, all of Denver, CO; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Fezell Benjamin and wife, Vivian Faye of Colorado Springs, CO; mother-in-law, Luella Flournoy of Micanopy, FL; many brother-in-laws; and sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. Services will be held Monday, March 5, 2001 10:00 a.m., at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1509 Edith SE, with Rev. W.M. Brown officiating. Bird -- Georgia Hartman Bird, 101, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died on Tuesday, February 27, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Irene Squires and husband Bill of Enid, OK, Norma Brewster and husband, Vernon of Albuquerque, and Wilma Sullivan of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Patricia Eubank, Laura Wallin and husband, Scott, and Lee Ann Sullivan; grandsons, Bob Squires and wife, Carolyn, David Squires and wife, Nancy, Steve Brewster, and Mike Sullivan and wife, Ruth; by ten great-grandchildren and by great-great twins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat on November 29, 1977. Georgia was born February 5, 1900 to John and �Lottie� Hartman on a farm 5 miles north of Breckenridge, Oklahoma that had been homesteaded by her father in 1893. She married Pat Bird on October 16, 1921 and the couple had three daughters. Georgia was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was an avid rug hooker and China painter. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We will all miss her, but it's comforting to know she is at peace with God in Heaven. Services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming NE with Dr. Charles Crutchfield, officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Interment to follow at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Bruington -- Alfred Eugene "Gene" Bruington, 87, passed away in Albuquerque Saturday, February 24, 2001, after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. He was born on November 27, 1913 in Wichita Falls, TX to George H. and Rowena Bruington. He is survived by his children, Stephanie Segura and husband, Floyd of White Rock, Fay Beals and husband, Bard of Albuquerque, and Terry E. Bruington and wife, Dwayla of Gilbert, AZ; six grandchildren; brothers, George Bruington of Albuquerque, John Bruington and wife, Flo of Albuquerque, and Charles Bruington and wife, Dorothy of Kingman, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Helen Marjorie (Terry) Bruington; his parents; his brothers, James, Robert, and Grafton Bruington; sister, Rowena Sherwood; and an infant brother and sister. Gene was raised near Santa Fe, NM and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1932. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1942 and rose to the rank of Major while serving in the China-Burma-India Theater during WWII and in the Korean War. Gene was honorably discharged in 1953 and was employed by the Zia Company in Los Alamos from 1953 to 1979. He was a member of the church of Christ Congregations in Los Alamos and in Santa Fe. A once avid fisherman and lover of the great outdoors, Gene always expressed that any day could be better if one was on a mountain stream or in the woods. He was also a passionate �collector of stuff. After his retirement, he and Helen moved to Santa Fe and lived there for 20 years. In 1999, he moved to Albuquerque to live with his much loved older brother, George, who took the most marvelous care of him for almost the last two years of Gene�s life. They were quite a team. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving and wonderful care given to Gene by the staff at the Albuquerque Manor Nursing Care facility during the last days of his life. Your kindness will always be remembered. Because of Gene�s great passion to help disadvantaged/disabled children and adults, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Children's Home, Manuelito Navajo Children's Home in Gallup, Albuquerque Help for the Homeless or the charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. Interment of cremains will take place Monday, March 12, 2001, 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Radisson in Santa Fe.

Capps -- Berry E. Capps, 77, a resident of Albuquerque for 45 years, died Wednesday, February 28, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Afton Capps of Albuquerque; sons, Terry Capps and wife, Helen of Jemez Springs, NM, Earl Capps and wife, Kacey of Greenfield, WI and David Capps and wife, Deedie of Thornton, CO; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mr. Capps served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Berry retired from General Electric after 30 years. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Services will be held Monday, March 5, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at L.D.S. Church Manzano Ward, Indian School Bldg., 12701 Indian School. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Corkran -- Ray Corkran, age 86, died at home Thursday, March 1, 2001 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Alberta; daughters, Rajeane Jack and husband, J.T, Nan Hamner and husband, Jay, all of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Kristy Waldraff and husband, Rick and Kara Nixon and husband, Steve, all of Abilene, TX; grandson, Jim Jack and wife, Kimberly of Arlington, TX; and six great-grandchildren, Michael Nixon, Christopher Nixon, Bradley Waldraff, Matthew Waldraff, Alex Jack and Avery Jack. He came to Albuquerque in 1935 to attend the University of New Mexico where he met Alberta Headley, his wife of 63 years. He was employed by the Employment Security Commission as Office Manager and Supervisor of Benefits. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in New Guinea and the Philippines. After his military service, he joined the Veterans Administration as Loan Examiner. He became Chief of the VA Loan Guaranty Program in 1960, and continued as Loan Guaranty Officer until his retirement in 1982, after 36 years of service. Commendations were received from the Mortgage Banking and Real Estate Organizations. Private Family Services will be held Sunday, with Rev. Fred Dorisse officiating. Daube -- Barbara Anne Daube passed away on February 13, 2001, at her son's home in Panama City, FL. She was 65, a child of God and a seed planter. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, retired Lt. Col. Daniel C. Daube, who remained by her side since last March when her long-time bout with cancer took a turn for the worse; son, Daniel C. Daube, Jr. and wife, Kelly of Panama City, FL; daughters, Dawn and her husband, Gene Woyak of Albuquerque, NM, Lisa and her husband, Danny Gaston of New Bern, NC and Dannie C. Daube of Albuquerque, NM; also grandchildren, Alexis, Jordyn and Richelle Woyak and Christopher, Carah and Joseph Gaston; she is also survived by her sister, Sandee Pinkston and family of Maysville, NC; and brother, William "Buck" Maynard and family of Garner, NC. The family would like to especially thank Dr. John Saiki for his long-term care and treatment throughout her illness and extend their gratitude to the many close friends and neighbors for their support and friendship. A Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy Rd. NE. Delgado -- Norma Sheila Delgado, 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971 died Thursday, March 1, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Victor Delgado; sons, John Delgado and Tom Delgado both of Albuquerque and Andrew Delgado of NC; daughters, Susan Delgado, Teresa Frankel and husband, Aaron, and Marianne McDuffie and husband, Monty, all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, Eddie, Elizabeth, Brittany, Jennifer, Matthew, Mariah and Trinity; sisters, Pat, Lorna and Irene; brothers, Charlie and Oliver and 11 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Delgado was born in Norwich, England and came to America in 1961 to join her husband and continue to raise their family. She was known to all to be gentle, loving, generous, courageous and was spiritual and had faith beyond all measure. Garcia -- Eileen E. Garcia, 41, a lifelong resident of Peralta, while surrounded by her family passed away on March 1, 2001. passed away March 1, 2001 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 7, 1959. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Victoria C.Tapia and her paternal grandmother, Amalia Garcia. Eileen is survived by her loving mother whom she resided with, Rosie Tapia Garcia; her father, Osben Garcia of Peralta; her maternal grandfather, Ofelio J. Tapia of Peralta; her brothers and sisters, Gene Garcia and wife, Barbara, Kathy Garcia, Herman Garcia and wife, Jeri, all of Peralta, Regina Soto and husband, Mike, and James Garcia, all of NV; two nieces, Bernadette Deats and Emilia Garcia; seven nephews, Mikie and Raymond Soto, Max Montoya, Christopher, Alfredo, James II and Juan Garcia; one great-grand nephew, Kane Deats; and one great-grand niece, Kendra Deats, who were Eileen's pride and joy. She is also survived by her two special aunts, Lita Maez and Frances Griego, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Eileen will be greatly missed by all who know and loved her. Harger -- Mr. Max H. Harger, beloved husband, father and Grampa, won his battle with cancer and was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 27, 2001. Martin -- Roberta "Maxine" Martin, 82, a resident of Belen for over 50 years, peacefully passed away on March 2, 2001 surrounded by her family. She was born in Emperia, Kansas on November 7, 1918 and later became a resident of Belen for the past 50 years. Mrs Martin was a loving wife and mother. She was an active member of B of L F & E and Engineers. Later she joined the Eastern Star of Belen. Mrs. Martin was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys Van Ordain of Emporia, Kansas, and a younger sister, Joan Staten of MO. Roberta is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ray M. whom is a retired Railroad Switch Engineer; her son, Michael L. and wife, Judy; Peggy Michelle Hainsworth and husband, Ken, both from Belen; Terry Sue Gray and husband, Ken of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mayhew -- George Kenneth Mayhew, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Thursday March 1, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Nelssen Mayhew; sons, George Carl Mayhew, Ross Edward Mayhew, his wife, Patty and their children, Axel and Lauren; daughter, Andrea Mayhew Hanson, her husband, Chuck and their son, Elliot. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Mayhew Wohlschlegel. George was born in Flagstaff, AZ on October 25, 1922 to Carl and Ethel Mayhew. They moved to Oak Creek Canyon, AZ in 1924 where the family owned and operated Mayhew�s Oak Creek Lodge. George attended a one-room school in Oak Creek Canyon and graduated from Flagstaff High School. He attended Stanford University for one year prior to enlisting in the US Army Air Corps in 1942. George was a B-24 pilot and instructor during WWII. He returned to Arizona following the War and graduated from Northern Arizona University. He married Ruth Nelssen on August 19, 1947 and the couple moved to Albuquerque in 1949. He owned a building materials and construction business, The Mayhew Company, from 1954-1991. George was an avid collector of antique tools and restorer of antique furniture. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Albuquerque Petroleum Club. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 5:00 p.m. at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE with the Reverend Thomas Hart officiating. A private burial will precede the service. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution Pl. NE Suite 120, Albuquerque NM 87110. Mccullough -- Lawrence McCullough, 59, died February 21, 2001 after a brief illness. He is survived by Kandy Delaway; sons, Sean of Albuquerque, Mark of Oregon; daughter, Tammi of Colorado; and two grandchildren. Mondragon -- Adolph Arlon Mondragon, 28, of Las Cruces passed away on February 16, 2001. Adolph was a resident of Las Cruces since 1991. He was a free spirit who touched the life of everyone he met. Adolph was a talented bass guitar player and played for a local band called the "Psychobillies." As a metal sculpture artist Adolph was gaining notoriety throughout New Mexico for his rough metal artwork he created for his company known as "Arlon Art." He enjoyed spending time in the wilderness around New Mexico and was an avid snowboarder. Adolph is survived by his mother and Step-Father, Sally and Paul Pena; and brothers, Rudy Mondragon of Albuquerque, and Hugo Mondragon and wife, Linda of Mo. City, TX; sisters, Suzanne Chavira and husband, Steve of Las Cruces, Stephanie Strain and husband, Don of Plano, TX, Yvonne Keller and husband, Charlie of Harlingen, TX. Adolph is also survived by his nieces, Abigail Chavira and Kiley Strain. A Memorial Service will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. S. E., on Sunday, March 4, 2001 at 2:00 pm.

Polichette -- Joseph R. Polichette, Sr., 62, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, died Wednesday, February 28, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Alice Rose Polichette of Albuquerque; son, Joe Polichette Jr. and wife, Marie A. of Albuquerque; daughter, Susan Daniels and husband, Scott of Albuquerque; grandchildren, April Polichette, Joseph Polichette III, Anthony Polichette, Amanda Daniels, and Julia Daniels; brother, Anthony Polichette of Buffalo, NY; sisters, Florence Gerst of Williamsville, NY and Mary Wise of West Seneca, NY; sister-in-law, Noreen Farrell of West Seneca, NY; and many nieces and nephews in New York. Mr. Polichette retired from The Buffalo New York Board of Education as a furniture finisher in 1979. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all of us. Mitchell of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Robbin Tibbetts of Washington; brother-in-law, Michael J. Mitchell and wife, Terri of Utah; and several nieces and nephews. Peter was born December 12, 1919 the son of Donato Antonio and Mary Spano Silecchio in Brooklyn, New York. Peter was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, and a Life Member of the Moose Lodge. Peter came to Rio Rancho from New York. He had been a Route Driver for the Queensboro Milk Company before retiring. Strong -- Catherine Walker Strong. A very loving life was taken on Ash Wednesday. Her husband of 40 years, Samuel E. Strong, her infant son, Richard, and her daughter, Carol Ann Strong, January 25, 1997, preceded Catherine in death. She was survived by her daughter, Susan Neuschwanger and husband, Ron; her son, Robert; her sister, Betty and husband, John McMullen; her brothers, Bill and wife, Patt Walker, her brother, Chuck and wife, Doris (deceased) Walker; her grandchildren, Julie and Bianca Strong, Ryan and wife, Kelly Neuschwanger and Melisa Arellano and 12 nieces and nephews. She also treasured her three great-grandchildren, Chance, Miranda and Jessire. Catherine was born on June 8, 1915 in La Junta, Colorado. Her family moved to Albuquerque when she was in high school. Catherine graduated from St. Vincent's Academy in 1932. She also graduated from Albuquerque Business College. Sam and Katie met when they both worked for Continental Oil Co. They were married on July 1, 1938 in Socorro, New Mexico. A Rosary will be conducted Friday, March 2, 2001 at Fitzgerald's Mortuary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas Rd. Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews. Catherine will be laid to rest next to her husband at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Catherine was active at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Valverde -- Mrs. Delilia Patricia (Perea) Valverde, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, won her battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends. She was called home to be in the presence of Jesus on Friday, March 2, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. She is survived by her husband, Daniel; sons, Clinton, Christopher and Antonio; granddaughter, Shannon; sisters, Filomena Cordova, Margarita Cline, Vicky Werner and Mary Chavez; brothers, Ignacio Perea, Teofilio Perea, Jr., Bobby Perea, Richard Perea and Thomas Perea. She is now reunited with her parents, Teofilio and Trinidad Perea, who resided in Corrales, NM. Rosary will be recited Monday, March 5, 2001, 7:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 6, 2001, 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery with an auto procession to the cemetery immediately following the Mass. A reception will be held upon return to Albuquerque at the lower-level meeting room of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Helen Flores, Rita Ortega, Isabel Guillen, Delfina Maestas, Anita Garcia and Carlotta Fischer. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the Altar Rosary Society members from St. Bernadette Catholic Church. The family wishes to express their gratitude for all of the prayers, cards, letters and flowers during the difficult period. For the vigils, the family wants to personally thank, Cipy DeVargas, Helen Flores, Isabel Guillen, Sally Hoffman, and Rita Ortega.
