Baggett -- Marvin Baggett Jr. "I know your life on earth was troubled and only you could know the pain. You weren't afraid to face the devil. You were no stranger to the rain..Go rest high on that mountain son, your work on earth is done...I wish I could see the angels faces when they hear your sweet voice sing."Marvin Baggett Jr., 75, passed away on February 27, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Reeva Sue; brother, Bill; sister, Beulah; son, Marvin; daughter, Rita; granddaughter, Gretchen; and their families. A country lawyer for 35 years, Marvin will be remembered for his generous heart, fierce determination and sage advice. He taught us the importance of family and to nourish our independent spirit. He will be sorely missed by family and friends, until we meet again someday.Private services will be followed by a "prayer meeting" on March 10, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rio Grande Cantina.

Bird -- Georgia Hartman Bird, 101, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died on Tuesday, February 27, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Irene Squires and husband Bill of Enid, OK, Norma Brewster and husband, Vernon of Albuquerque, and Wilma Sullivan of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Patricia Eubank, Laura Wallin and husband, Scott, and Lee Ann Sullivan; grandsons, Bob Squires and wife, Carolyn, David Squires and wife, Nancy, Steve Brewster, and Mike Sullivan and wife, Ruth; by ten great-grandchildren and by great-great twins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat on November 29, 1977. Georgia was born February 5, 1900 to John and ¯Lottie¯ Hartman on a farm 5 miles north of Breckenridge, Oklahoma that had been homesteaded by her father in 1893. She married Pat Bird on October 16, 1921 and the couple had three daughters. Georgia was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was an avid rug hooker and China painter. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We will all miss her, but it¯s comforting to know she is at peace with God in Heaven. Services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming NE with Dr. Charles Crutchfield, officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Friends may visit Friday, March 2, 2001 from 3:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming NE. Interment to follow at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE. Bright -- Mae Rose Bright, 77, an Albuquerque resident since 1950, died Tuesday, February 27, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Sue Bentz and husband, John of Albuquerque. Her husband, Ben H. Bright and a son, David Lee Bright preceded her in death. Mrs. Bright was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where she served in many ways; her greatest love was working with children. She taught elementary school in Illinois and New Mexico for many years, retiring from Albuquerque Public Schools. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2001 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 Alvarado, SE with Rev. John C. Heffelfinger and Rev. Harold Johnson, officiating. Camarco -- Michael Paul Camarco, 62, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 24, 2001. Dixon -- Imogene Dixon, 44, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, February 27, 2001, after a lengthy illness. Gabaldon -- James (Jr.) G. Gabaldon, 26, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 24, 2001. James is the beloved husband of one year to Claudine Gabaldon. He is also survived by his daughters, Jazmine and Samantha; his loving parents, James and Anna Gabaldon; two brothers, Jude Gabaldon and Kyle Hughes; grandparents, Eduardo and Martha Gabaldon and Eloy and Rose Lopez; in-laws, Porfirio Montoya and Delfina Escarscega and husband Bienvienido; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by a sister, Natalie Jaramillo and a friend, Rudy Gutierrez. James, was a member of Victory Love Fellowship Church, he loved spending time with his wife and children. Grossetete -- Mr. Richard A. Grossetete, 59, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 27, 2001. Mr. Grossetete is the beloved husband of 36 years to Mrs. Aurora Grossetete. He is also survived by one daughter, Rosemarie Meza; five sons, Richard Lay, Edwin Lopez and wife, Sandra, David Lopez, Victor A. Grossetete and wife, Carla and Moises D. Grossetete and wife, Maria; three sisters, Loretta Hernandez and husband, Gavino, Sandra Padilla and Jennie Grossetete; one brother, Edward D. Grossetete; 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Grossetete was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam Era, he loved hunting and fishing. Harger -- Mr. Max H. Harger, beloved husband, father and Grampa, won his battle with cancer and was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 27, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Ricki and daughter, Cara of the family home in Los Lunas; daughter, Darla and husband, Jeff and his "little guys" Brandon and Justin of Albuquerque; his mother, Mary Lou; brothers, Rick, Roby, Wendell, Bob and Dalmar; sisters, Susie, Claudette, Edwina, Jimmie, and Dean, and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard, brother Ronnie, and nephew Duane. He was surrounded by his loving family who will miss him greatly. Henderson -- Juanell "Grandma" Henderson, 62, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, February 25, 2001. Lyles -- Zelma Marguerite (Eastwood) Lyles, an early settler in New Mexico, passed away February 24, 2001 in Tucson, AZ. She was born on September 30, 1903, to the late Maggie and Nick Eastwood, after a long journey by covered wagon. She would later proudly claim to be the first of 11 children to be born on the homestead, which, over time, would become a fine two-story home with a large cottonwood grove. In 1922, Zelma married John Lyles, a cowboy from a neighboring ranch. They moved to southern Arizona, and then eventually settled in Albuquerque, where they lived for 50 years. Zelma taught sewing and designed fiesta dresses, which sold throughout the Southwest. On her 80th birthday, the Mayor of Albuquerque declared September 30th to be Zelma Lyles Day. Her husband, John, preceded her in death in 1957. Zelma is survived by one daughter; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her many friends for her gift of music-playing both organ and piano-and her enjoyment of dance. To her family she was a very special source of inspiration. A Funeral Service will be performed at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle SE. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale SE. Saavedra -- Estevan Saavedra, 78, of Socorro, NM, died Sunday, February 25, at a nursing home in Albuquerque from complications of a stroke. He was born in Tokay, NM to Jose Ignacio Saavedra and Nepomucena Gabaldon. Mr. Saavedra was preceded in death by his brother, Antonio and his brother-in-law, Fabian Romero. He is survived by his brothers, Jose I. Saavedra, Louis Saavedra and wife, Gail; sisters, Vidal Romero, Telesfora Rios and husband, Feliciano, and Frances LaBella and husband, Joseph; sister-in-law, Virginia Tafoya Saavedra; his much loved nieces and nephews and their families, Ralph Saavedra and wife, Rachel, Stephen , Gabriel; Laura Saavedra and husband, David Buckley, Aidan, Elena; Barbara Saavedra and fiancée, Michael Risher; Patricia Romero Iley; Lilly Romero Evitt and husband, James, Michael, Angela; Moises Romero and wife, Diana, Shanna, Joseph; Jeanne Romero Gacanich and husband, Larry, Mileva, Mirjana, Dushan; Rose Anna Romero Jones, Candace, DaVonna, Marea, Dana; Fabian Romero Jr.; Don Saavedra, Evan, Eric, Ian; Donna Saavedra; Mark Saavedra and wife, Tracy; Renee Saavedra; Michael Saavedra and wife, Grace, Jacob; and Vincent Saavedra. Mr. Saavedra retired from a career in law enforcement, including service as Chief of Police in Socorro, NM in the 1970's. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a combat medic in Okinawa. He was among the men subsequently deployed to Korea in anticipation of the invasion of Japan. He worked construction in the Albuquerque area after the war, being among the men who helped build the Coyote Atomic Weapons Repository in the Manzano Mountains. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was frequently helped by the Socorro Chapter. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at San Miguel Church in Socorro, 403 El Camino Real, with Father Bill Sanchez reciting. George Sowa, USAF Ret. Peter was a member of and served in the USAF for 23 years as a pilot. He flew in C.B.I., (America) USA and Japan and was (CMTC) Contract management for McDonald Douglas and Hughes Aircraft. He worked for the Dept. of Energy at Richland, WA and Kirtland Air Force Base. Peter was a graduate of Slippery Rock University and U.S.A.F.I.T. He was a member of Calvary Chapel in Albuquerque. Peter loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2001, 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel in Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Road NE. Strong -- Catherine Walker Strong. A very loving life was taken on Ash Wednesday. Her husband of 40 years, Samuel E. Strong, her infant son, Richard, and her daughter, Carol Ann Strong, January 25, 1997, preceded Catherine in death. She was survived by her daughter, Susan Neuschwanger and husband, Ron; her son, Robert; her sister, Betty and husband, John McMullen; her brothers, Bill and wife, Patt Walker, her brother, Chuck and wife, Doris (deceased) Walker; her grandchildren, Julie and Bianca Strong, Ryan and wife, Kelly Neuschwanger and Melisa Arellano and 12 nieces and nephews. She also treasured her three great-grandchildren, Chance, Miranda and Jessire. Catherine was born on June 8, 1915 in La Junta, Colorado. Her family moved to Albuquerque when she was in high school. Catherine graduated from St. Vincent's Academy in 1932. She also graduated from Albuquerque Business College. Sam and Katie met when they both worked for Continental Oil Co. They were married on July 1, 1938 in Socorro, New Mexico. A Rosary will be conducted Friday, March 2, 2001 at Fitzgerald's Mortuary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas Rd. Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews. Catherine will be laid to rest next to her husband at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Catherine was active at Our Lady of Fatima Church. She loved her bridge club and her garden. Contributions in her honor can be made to Sandia Hospice, 4725 Indian School Rd., Suite 100, 87110.

Toon -- Margaret M. Toon, age 95, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, passed away in her sleep Tuesday, February 27, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Toon and three sisters, Minnie Marteno, Leticia Funderburke, and Molly Parmentier. She is also survived by daughters, Lucy Chavez, of Albuquerque; and Mary Chiado, of Windsor, CO; three sisters, Dee Chavez and husband, Fidel, of Sterling, CO; Mary Gonzales, of Albuquerque; Vera Henderson and husband, Bill, of Golden, NM; brother, Bill Riccon and wife, Eileen, of Albuquerque; four grandsons and three granddaughters; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Chapel. Pastor Michael Dominguez will officiate. Pallbearers are Ernest A. Chavez, Joseph S. Chavez, Dennis F. Chavez, James L. Culbertson, Albert B. Wenz elburger, Mario J. Gonzales, Joseph J. Chiado and Fidel Chavez. Interment is immediately following at Sunset Memorial Park. Webb -- Joseph V. Webb, 84, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, died on Sunday, February 25, 2001. He is survived by his step-son, Darrell Harrison and wife, Rosemary of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Mildred Shinn and husband, John of Hurley, NM; step-granddaughters, Peggy Ann (Zejda) Harrison of Albuquerque, Charl Barrileau and husband, Ray Sr. of Franklin, LA, and Denise Wallin of Arizona; four great-grandchildren; and by a dear friend, Lillie Zejda. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Crystal E. Webb. He was a Life Member of DAV and spent 20 years in the Navy, including service on the USS Yorktown when it was torpedoed in 1941. Services will be held Friday, March 2, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming NE with James Ward of 1st Christian Church, officiating. Burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit on Thursday, March 1, 2001 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel.
