Huff -- John Arleigh Huff, 90, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2000. Arleigh was born on May 23, 1910, the son of Charles F. and Nancy S. Huff in Sigel, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Oil City, Pennsylvania, where he attended high school. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1932. Arleigh served in the US Navy during WW II in the European Theater. After living in Alice, Texas for many years, the family moved to Boerne, Texas. Arleigh served on the City Council and was Mayor of Boerne from 1965 until 1969. From 1976 through 1979, he presided as County Judge of Kendall County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellmarie B. Huff; his parents; and a sister, Mercedes Huff Teegardin. Arleigh is survived by a daughter, Nancy A. Jaqua and husband, Edwin of Corrales, NM; a son, Charles F. Huff and wife, Mary of Los Alamos, NM; granddaughters, Maria Huff and Suzanne Jaqua; and grandsons, David Arleigh Jaqua, and John W. Huff and his wife, Tania; two nieces, Nancy Smith and Susan Teegardin. Services will be held in Boerne, Texas with Ebensberger Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Boerne Public Library, 210 North Main, Boerne, TX 78006. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary.

Smith -- Mary Sutton Smith passed away on August 2, 2000 in Albuquerque, following a short illness. She was born August 11, 1909 in Seneca, Missouri to Smith Alexander Sutton and Martha Reneer Sutton. She married Wilbur Earl Smith Jr. in July, 1928. He preceded her in death in 1959. There were three children of this marriage, Martha Smith of Conroe, TX, Wilbur E. Smith III and wife, Kaye of LaPorte, TX, and Michael S. Smith of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Lisa Leming of Tomball, TX, Linda Rampy and husband, Ty of Calvert, TX, and Corey Jason Smith of Ft. Meade, MD; three great-grandchildren, Madison and Ty Evans Rampy of Calvert, TX and Mari Margaret Leming of Tomball, TX; one nephew, Paul William Matthews and wife, Rita of Oklahoma City, OK. Mary had one sister, Bernice Sutton Matthews Brady of Seneca, Missouri, who preceded her in death. There will be cremation with a memorial service at a later date.

Smith -- Mary Sutton Smith passed away on August 2, 2000 in Albuquerque, following a short illness. Disney -- Wayne Allen Disney, 66, of Bryan Circle, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2000 at Carlsbad Medical Center, Carlsbad, NM. He will lie in state Friday, August 4, 2000, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 5, 2000, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 5, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Reimers of Blodgett Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Pallbearers will be Mike Aguilar, Bob Rogers, Tom Burt, Lavoy Schierholt, Charles Hefner, and Randy Boles. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Wayne Allen Disney was born Saturday, April 28, 1934 to Jasper Allen Disney and Pauline Margaret Bensing Disney at home on the 40 acre farm near Huntsville, Arkansas. They moved to Hobbs, NM in 1946. Wayne served in the US Navy four years from November, 1952-November, 1956. Two years were spent in San Diego, CA and two years on the Air Craft Carrier"Shangrila" in the Philippines, Japan and Hawaii. On July 21, 1957 he married Roberta Lee Stuckey in Hobbs. They were married 43 years. Wayne's career was spent in the supermarket industry. In 1946, he went to work at age 12 for Ruffner's Grocery in Hobbs. He worked his way up to supervisor for Kimbell & Winn Dixie grocery chains. In June 1990, he moved to Carlsbad where he was manager of Furrs Grocery and retired at age 65 on March 1, 1999. His"Dream Career" would have revolved around his love of motorcycles in his younger days. Wayne's hobbies were helping people and yard work. He had a way of helping people feel good about themselves. He could turn a patch of weeds into a well-manicured lawn. Wayne was a deacon and active member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church. Wayne had a heavy burden for the lost. His desire was for everyone to receive Jesus as their Savior and spend eternity in heaven. Wayne had high family values and strongly believed in the Golden Rule. Whether you were his employer, employee, neighbor, friend or family he went out of his way to"show himself friendly". He took the time and made the effort to know all of his employees and many of his customers by name. He was fair and considerate and never asked anything of anyone he wasn't willing to do himself. He was a past member (resigning in May, 2000) of the Downtown Carlsbad Lions Club. He enjoyed giving his time and energy to the community. He was one of the most admired and respected people wherever he lived. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father- and mother-in-law, Elmer and Edna Stuckey; and a special brother-in-law and friend, Leslie Boles. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Disney of Carlsbad; two sons, Allen Disney of Carlsbad and Michael Disney of Albuquerque; one brother, Charles Disney of Phoenix, AZ; five sisters, Paula Sebesta of Fredericksberg, TX, Wanda Boles of Carlsbad, Dawna Freeman of Midland, TX, Wilma Smith of San Mateo, CA and Beth Lynch of Hobbs, NM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Saiz -- Pauline Saiz, 37, passed away July 30, 2000. She was born in Albuquerque, graduated from Albuquerque High School, and worked at A.O.L. She is survived by husband, Anthony Saiz; daughter, Angela; sons, Diego and Maurice; grandson, Little Dominic; parents, Sadie and Flavio Sandoval; sister, Peggy Torrez; her favorite cousins, Dora and Lou Lucero; and other loved ones who will miss her dearly. Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2000. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Hadcock -- Rosella M. Hadcock, beloved wife of Carryl E. Hadcock, passed away on July 14, 2000 in Columbus, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Elizabeth; and son, Darryl Hadcock. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 70 years,"Curly"; by daughter, Bonnie (Gary) Benson of Stanton, NE; and sons, Myrle (Pauline) Hadcock of Columbus, NE and Ralph (Jackie) Hadcock of Albuquerque. She was the beloved grandmother of 16 grandchildren, among them, Margaret (Richard) Smith, Georgette (Marc) Lombardo, and Andrew Hadcock, all residing in Albuquerque. Great-grandmother"Rose" is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren, two of whom live in Albuquerque, Stephanie and Matthew Smith. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, Nebraska, with Father Jeff Loseke. Interment was at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, also in Columbus, Nebraska. Arrangements were conducted by McKown Funeral Home, Inc. of Columbus, Nebraska. Sanchez -- Adam C. Sanchez, 80, a lifelong resident of Belen, died on Friday, July 28, 2000. He was born in Belen on September 20, 1919 to Alfredo and Carlota Sanchez. He came from a family of six. He was one of the first students at St. Mary's School and a 1940 graduate of Belen High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in England and several campaigns across Europe. He arrived shortly after the troops who had invaded Normandy on D-Day. After the war, he returned to Belen and married his high school sweetheart, the former Amalia Sanchez on February 4, 1946. He went to work for the post office for a short time. He then went to work for Southern Union Gas Company, where he worked for 15 years, and then to PNM for 25 years until he retired in 1985. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Ushers Club at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church for several years, Valencia County Sheriff Posse, and also a volunteer firefighter for 27 years. He was an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 186 of the Boy Scouts of America, an assistant boxing coach under Timmy Solano with whom he helped train boxers such as Juan Sanchez. He farmed ten acres of land north of Belen, growing alfalfa, clover, wheat, fruits, and vegetables. He was a member of the Belen Moose Lodge, as well. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Patrick Sanchez on July 20, 1995; his parents; his brother, Otoniel Sanchez; and his twin sister, Isabel. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Amalia of the family home in Belen; children, Alfred and wife, Maria N. Sanchez of Belen, Barbara Ann Horton and husband, Bob of Belen; six grandchildren, Tammy C'de Baca and husband, Darren, Tanya Baldonado, Edward, Lisa and James Sanchez and Steven Adam Sanchez; five great-grandchildren, Brandy and Brian Baldonado, Alyssa and Andrew Sanchez and Andre C'de Baca, and one of the way; brother, Arthur Sanchez and his wife, Flora of Albuquerque; sisters, Carolyn Chavez of Albuquerque, Pelegrina Romero and husband, Ray of Belen, and Theodora Patton and husband, Milton of Fort Smith, AR. A viewing will be held on Sunday, 5:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 12:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He had lived in Las Cruces and currently resided at Sangre de Cristo Nursing Home, Albuquerque for the past 2 1/2 years. Juan was a member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church in Las Cruces. He retired from White Sands Missile Range, and also was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Amelia Baca; his parents, Miquel S. and Rebecca Baca; and one brother, Finbar"Fin" Baca. He is survived by five brothers, Adelaido"Eddie", Efrain, Esmael"Smily" and wife, Elaine, Wilfido"Willie" and wife, Fina, Mike and wife, Betsy; five sisters, Lena Cordova and husband, Ruben, Mary Roebuck, Maria Reyes Jaramillo and husband, Jim, Angie Lovato and husband, Leo, and Elsie Smith and husband, Jim.
