Elston -- Lorraine Dorothy Hind Elston, born in Chicago, March 5, 1929 and a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died peacefully at home on July 27, 2000. She graduated with Honors in 1951 from the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University and received a Master's degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism in 1952. While at Columbia she met her devoted husband, Wolfgang (Wolf) Elston and remained his loving wife for 48 years. Subsequently, she worked for advertising agencies in New York, the U.S. Army at Fort Lee, VA, and the Lubbock, TX Avalanche Journal. After settling in Albuquerque, she devoted herself to raising her sons, Stephen, born in 1957 and Richard, born in 1960. She loved her family, friends, writing, theater, and collecting artifacts from many parts of the world, especially Native American art. She was a member of Women in Communications, Amnesty International, Planned Parenthood and Self Help for the Hard of Hearing. Although Lorraine suffered for many years with multiple physical handicaps, she bore her chronic pain with fortitude and continued to enjoy life and writing postcards to many friends during her travels. She took great pride in the careers of her two sons. She is survived by her husband; son, Stephen and daughter-in-law, Marion White of Seattle, WA, son, Richard and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Lada and grandson, Joseph of Gainesville, FL; brother, Joseph Hind and sister-in-law, Ruth of Madison, WI; and six nieces and nephews. The birth of her grandson, Joseph, in 1999 filled her last year with special joy. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 31, at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, followed by private interment at Fairview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Columbia University School of Journalism Class of 1952 Scholarship Fund, c/o Harold A. Greene -- Durward R."Bob" Greene, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947 died, Wednesday, July 26, 2000. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Nioma Greene of Albuquerque; son, Donald Greene and wife, Lucy; daughters, Glynda Greene and Linda Greene-Jablonski; grandson, Robert Jablonski; granddaughters, Jennifer Stanforth and husband, Richard Jr., Midshipmen Odetha Greene, Stephanie and Juliette Crandall, all of Albuquerque; great-grandson, Steven Ashcraft of Albuquerque; brothers, Paul D. Greene and wife, Lois of Yoakum, TX, Ronald C. Greene and wife, Doris of Clearwater, Fl and Raymond D. Greene of Corning, NY; and sister, Shirley Keith of Campbell, NY. He served in the Military for 22 years, both in Army and Navy and served 20 years with the Air Force Civil Service in Albuquerque. Hadcock -- Rosella M. Hadcock, beloved wife of Carryl E. Hadcock, passed away on July 14, 2000 in Columbus, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Elizabeth; and son, Darryl Hadcock. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 70 years,"Curly"; by daughter, Bonnie (Gary) Benson of Stanton, NE; and sons, Myrle (Pauline) Hadcock of Columbus, NE and Ralph (Jackie) Hadcock of Albuquerque. She was the beloved grandmother of 16 grandchildren, among them, Margaret (Richard) Smith, Georgette (Marc) Lombardo, and Andrew Hadcock, all residing in Albuquerque. Great-grandmother"Rose" is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren, two of whom live in Albuquerque, Stephanie and Matthew Smith. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, Nebraska, with Father Jeff Loseke. Interment was at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, also in Columbus, Nebraska. Arrangements were conducted by McKown Funeral Home, Inc. of Columbus, Nebraska. Hume -- Marguerite Louise Hume, nee Purvis, 99, died July 24, 2000 in Albuquerque. Mrs. Hume was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 6, 1901, and lived in that area most of her life. She and her late husband, Edward C. Hume Sr., retired to Marine City, Michigan, and later St. Clair, Michigan. In 1983, she moved to Palatine, Illinois, to be near her only son, Edward C. Hume Jr. and his wife, Ann; and when they retired, came with them to Albuquerque. Mrs. Hume lived for three years at Las Colinas Retirement Home and for the past two years was a resident at Sunbridge Mission Manor. In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, she is survived by her grandchildren, Diane Hume of San Francisco, Richard Hume of Livermore, CA and his wife, Jean, Edward C. Hume III and his wife, Judy of Austin, TX; and three great-grandchildren, Edward C. Hume IV, John Botsford Hume and MacKenzie Elizabeth Hume. During Mrs. Hume's lifetime, although she was primarily a homemaker, she served as treasurer for the Michigan Crippled Children's League for many years, was reknowned for her skills at needlework, and in her later years won many awards for her artwork. Johnston -- Dolores E. Johnston, 63, a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years, died Friday, July 28, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Melvin G. Johnston; son, Michael S. Johnston of Norfolk, VA; daughter, Michelle S. Johnston of Mill Valley, CA; stepsons, Lyndon and Jeffrey T. Johnston; granddaughter, Angel Ann Johnston of Norfolk, VA; mother, Zella Leonard; sisters, Louise Leonard and Margaret Sabo and husband, William, all of Albuquerque; and nieces, Judy Gerald and husband, Lanny and Bonnie Denham and husband, Dana. Mrs. Johnston was active in the Girl Scouts at both the National level and with the Chaparral Girl Scout Council. Lucero -- Norene Lucero, 59, a resident of Peralta and formerly of Blackfoot, ID, died Thursday, July 27, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Kochakian of Peralta; daughter, Christina M. Allen and husband, William Allen Jr.; grandson,"My Pumpkin" William Alecico Jr. Allen, all of Bosque Farms; sisters, Doris Bowman, Lela Rodgers, Vera Fullmer and husband, Darrell, all of Blackfoot, ID, Margene Stringham and husband, Ray of Cedar Hill, UT, Carol Williams and husband, Pete of Boise, ID, Zelda Phillips and husband, Stan of Winlock, WA and Joan Coleman and husband, Eddie of Blackfoot, ID; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude B. and Ella Humpherys Going; one sister, Edna Newcomb; and three brothers, Gerald, Stan and Russell Going. Norene was born on March 15, 1941 in Idaho Falls, ID. She attended and graduated from the Snake River School District and attended college in Boise. Norene married Max A. Lucero, they moved to New Mexico and later divorced. She then married Robert E. Kochakian. Martinez -- Lupe A. Martinez, born in Prescott, Arizona on January 27, 1926. She went home to the Lord on July 29, 2000. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Veronica in 1997. She is survived by her husband, Louis G. Martinez; daughter, Victoria Sandoval and husband, Manuel; son, David Martinez; daughter, Valarie Chavez and husband, John. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her priorities in life were simple, her love for the Lord and her love for her family. She will be missed. Richardson -- Col. Orin S."Rich" Richardson (USAF Ret) February 14, 1909 - July 26, 2000 Orin Shelby Richardson passed away peacefully in an Albuquerque Palliative Care facility with his wife and daughters near. Col. Richardson retired in 1964 after serving 33 years in the Air Force. He was an owner of the Wildorado Ranch and part-time resident for many years. He is survived by his wife, Gene; daughter, Jeri Mac Burkett of Durango; daughter, Vicki Lyn Koger of Oskaloosa, IA; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Robl -- Anne Garihee Robl, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1980, died Monday, July 24, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Pitts and husband, Frank of Medina, NY; sons, James Robl and wife, Peggy of Merrill, WI and Jeffrey Robl and wife, Loretta of Rothschild, WI; grandchildren, Lori Grollmes, Lynn Andersen, Gretchen and Erika Robl and Renee and Ross Robl; five great-grandchildren; brother, John P. Garihee; sisters, Marcia Garihee and Laurie Garihee, all of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robl in 1979; and son, Michael Robl in 1988. A native of Merrill, WI, before moving to Albuquerque, Anne was an active wife and mother, who loved to cook, bake and bowl. A 1938 graduate of Merrill High School, Anne enjoyed attending many class reunions. She was a longtime member of V.F.W. Post #401 Auxiliary. After her children were grown, she was employed as Society Editor of the Merrill Daily Herald in the early 1960s. Anne was then employed by Dr. Will Piikkila until moving to Albuquerque where she was employed by Dr. Diana Montoya until her recent illness. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 5, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Aquinas Newman Catholic Center, 1815 Las Lomas Rd. NE. Interment of cremains will take place at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Merrill, WI. Sanchez -- Adam C. Sanchez, 80, a lifelong resident of Belen, died on Friday, July 28, 2000. He was born in Belen on September 20, 1919 to Alfredo and Carlota Sanchez. He came from a family of six. He was one of the first students at St. Mary's School and a 1940 graduate of Belen High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in England and several campaigns across Europe. He arrived shortly after the troops who had invaded Normandy on D-Day. After the war, he returned to Belen and married his high school sweetheart, the former Amalia Sanchez on February 4, 1946. He went to work for the post office for a short time. He then went to work for Southern Union Gas Company, where he worked for 15 years, and then to PNM for 25 years until he retired in 1985. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Ushers Club at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church for several years, Valencia County Sheriff Posse, and also a volunteer firefighter for 27 years. He was an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 186 of the Boy Scouts of America, an assistant boxing coach under Timmy Solano with whom he helped train boxers such as Juan Sanchez. He farmed ten acres of land north of Belen, growing alfalfa, clover, wheat, fruits, and vegetables. He was a member of the Belen Moose Lodge, as well. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Patrick Sanchez on July 20, 1995; his parents; his brother, Otoniel Sanchez; and his twin sister, Isabel. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Amalia of the family home in Belen; children, Alfred and wife, Maria N. Sanchez of Belen, Barbara Ann Horton and husband, Bob of Belen; six grandchildren, Tammy C'de Baca and husband, Darren, Tanya Baldonado, Edward, Lisa and James Sanchez and Steven Adam Sanchez; five great-grandchildren, Brandy and Brian Baldonado, Alyssa and Andrew Sanchez and Andre C'de Baca, and one of the way; brother, Arthur Sanchez and his wife, Flora of Albuquerque; sisters, Carolyn Chavez of Albuquerque, Pelegrina Romero and husband, Ray of Belen, and Theodora Patton and husband, Milton of Fort Smith, AR. A viewing will be held on Sunday, 5:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 12:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment will take place at the Parish Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen.

Scott -- Suzan C. Scott, 64, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2000. Her loving husband, Robert Sr.; daughter, Susan, her husband, John and their daughter Brittany, daughter, Julie and her daughter, Caitlin, and daughter, Patricia and her daughter Amber; sisters, Kay and Joyce and their respective families survive her. Her only son, Robert, Jr. preceded her in death. She served in the Air Force and that is where she met the love of her life, Robert. She left the military to be the best stay-at-home mom ever and Mom loved to be in the garden whether is was with the vegetables or with her flowers. Everyone who came into contact with Mom will miss her; she had a special way of being your friend. Cremation and private services have taken place. Sunrise Society in charge of arrangements.

Sellman -- Helen Sellman, 78, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2000 at home following an extended illness. Helen was born September 15, 1921 in Bronte, Texas. She was united in marriage to Dick Sellman on June 6, 1941, who preceded her in death in 1977. Helen and her husband, Dick were very active in ranching in Watrous, NM from 1942 until Dick's death in 1977, where they worked together in establishing a nationally known herd of Hereford cattle and were well known in the Hereford industry. After her husband's death, Helen moved to Las Vegas, NM and became very active with Northeastern Regional Hospital, where she served on the Board of Trustees for a number of years. Helen belonged to Chapter AC P.E.O. and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Helen is survived by three daughters, Joann Olafson and husband, Hal of Las Vegas, Amy Craig and husband, Mike of Midland, TX and Gayle Poff and husband, Carey of Moriarty; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and brother, Jim Kiker of Portales; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Helen will be conducted Monday, July 31, 2000, 9:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Las Vegas, with the Rev. Mike Stahl officiating. Graveside services will be held at South Park Cemetery in Roswell at 3:30 p.m. Helen will lie in state at Rogers Mortuary Chapel, Sunday, July 30, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where friends may call. The family has suggested that memorials be made to the United Methodist Church, Helen Sellman Memorial Fund. Sewell -- Weldon E. Sewell, 71, a resident of Albuquerque for over 50 years, died Thursday, July 27, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Etta Rae Sewell of the family home; sons, Rex T. Sewell and wife, Barbara of Rio Rancho and Randal E. Sewell and wife, Gina of Las Cruces; daughter, Patti Miller and husband, Bill of Gallup; grandchildren, Michael D. Sewell of Albuquerque, Teri Lyn Tavella and husband, Paul of Okinawa, Japan, Dori Raylene and Cory William Miller, both of Gallup, and Alexandra Marie Sewell of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Katie and Cody Tavella; mother, Hattie T. Sewell of Albuquerque, and mother-in-law, Chloe Brazell also of Albuquerque. Mr. Sewell was retired from Mountain Bell in 1984 after 34 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a native New Mexican, an avid hunter, and fisherman. Mr. Sewell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Sisson -- Herbert F. Sisson, born January 21, 1929 in Blue Field, West Virginia, died July 26, 2000. He served in the U.S. Air Force for the latter part of WWII, and the Korean War. Attended DeVry Institute of Tech. from 1953-1957 and graduated with a record achievement level that was not broken for many years. In May 1957, he went to work for Sandia National Labs, where he remained until his retirement in 1986. He then went to work for Lockwood Greene in Spartenburg, SC. His last assignment was the Savannah River Project and his last residence was in North Augusta, SC. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; four children, Ray and his wife, Dena, Charlene and her husband, Darren, Herbert Gene and his wife, Traci, Carrie and her husband, Doug; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Bryan, Chelsie, Tiffany, Krystal, Travis, Tachelle and Katelynn; two great-grandchildren, Jerry and Natalie; a brother, Branham and his wife, Mary; three nephews, Doug, Rob and Freddie; five nieces, Becky, Judy, Mary, Kathy, and Carol; and also ex-wife and longtime friend, Rosalie. Stefanov -- Mary Stefanov, 90, born in Yogoslavia 8-9-09, died on July 24, 2000. She lived in Akron, Ohio until moving to Albuquerque in 1976. She was preceded in death by husband, Steve of 71 years. She is survived by her sister, Helen Ranous of San Diego, California; sons, Louis and wife, Mary Lou of Albuquerque, Donald and wife, Mary of Gahanna, Ohio, Robert and wife, Carolyn of Millwood, W.V.; daughter, Judi Royle of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews in Ohio. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 1, 2000 at Marble Ave. Bible Church, 5200 Marble NE. Services will be conducted by grandson, Rev. Mark Louis Stefanov. Trujillo -- Arthur E. Trujillo, Sr., 77, a resident of Las Cruces for 40 years, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000. Arthur was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Josephine Trujillo of Las Cruces; five daughters, Margaret Franklin and husband, Richard of Santa Clarita, CA, Arthie Jo Shuman and husband, Alan of Santa Fe, Elaine L. de Trujillo and Geraldine J. Garcia and husband, Tony, all of Albuquerque, and Trish Soybel and husband, Josh of Moscow, Russia; two sons, Arthur E. Trujillo, Jr. and wife, Leticia of Las Cruces and James K. Trujillo of Denver, CO; six granddaughters; five grandsons; three sisters, Flora Apodaca of Albuquerque, and Leonor Lovato and Mary Montoya, both of Las Vegas, NM; and two brothers, Aniceto Trujillo of Pueblo, CO and Frank Trujillo of Denver, CO. Mr. Trujillo was preceded in death by one brother, Eginio Trujillo and one sister, Teodorita Valverde. Mr. Trujillo was a veteran of WWII having enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as Pharmacist's Mate 2nd Class aboard the USS Pierce, USS Heywood and USS Doyen. As a navy Corpsman, he participated in 12 battles in the Pacific and was recipient of the American Theater of War, Asiatic Pacific, Philippine Liberation, Presidential Unit, Good Conduct and Navy Honor Commendation Medals. Arthur was also retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 40 years service in New Mexico and Texas. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Jerry Hietpas reciting. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, 4020 St. Joseph Place SW, with Father Frank Prieto, Celebrant. Interment will take place at 12:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arthur Trujillo Jr., James Trujillo, Jeffrey Shuman, Ryan Shuman, Cris Stern, John Franklin, and Jamison Soybel. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association of New Mexico, 525 San Pedro NE, Suite 101, 87108.
