Baca -- Juan Damacio"Johnny" Baca, originally from Las Nutrias, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2000. He had lived in Las Cruces and currently resided at Sangre de Cristo Nursing Home, Albuquerque for the past 2 1/2 years. Juan was a member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church in Las Cruces. He retired from White Sands Missile Range, and also was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Amelia Baca; his parents, Miquel S. and Rebecca Baca; and one brother, Finbar"Fin" Baca. He is survived by five brothers, Adelaido"Eddie", Efrain, Esmael"Smily" and wife, Elaine, Wilfido"Willie" and wife, Fina, Mike and wife, Betsy; five sisters, Lena Cordova and husband, Ruben, Mary Roebuck, Maria Reyes Jaramillo and husband, Jim, Angie Lovato and husband, Leo, and Elsie Smith and husband, Jim. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at San Isidro Catholic Church in Las Nutrias, Veguita, NM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Vincent Nicosia on Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at San Isidro Catholic Church. Baca -- Mr. Sylvestre M. Baca died Tuesday in Albuquerque at the age of 76. Mr. Baca worked at Albuquerque High School for 25 years. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers, Ralph and Manuel Baca; and a grandson, Antonio Baca. Mr. Baca is survived by his wife, Gloria Baca; sons, Sal Baca and wife, Ester, and Roger Baca and wife, Jill; daughters, Patricia Salas and husband, Adam, Theresa Silva and husband, Mike, and Susan Baca; brothers, Louie Baca and wife, Tillie, Johnny Baca and wife, Lupe, and Ruben Baca and wife, Carol; sisters, Toni Bustamante, Ramona Flores, Lupe Hooker and Connie Jaynes; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mr. Baca will be held on Saturday at St. Edwin Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Benson -- John J. (Jack) Benson, P.E., 76, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, July 24, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bernadette C. Benson of the family home, sons, John A. Benson and wife, M. Joann of Overland Park, KS and Paul J. Benson and wife, Suzanne T. of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Lisa M. Benson of Tempe AZ, Lori L. Delorit and husband, Aaron D. of Roeland Park, KS, Amy N. Benson of Lenexa, KS, and Sarah M. Benson of Albuquerque. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 30, 1924. Jack, as he was called by all of his friends and those who knew him, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and fought in World War II. He served with the fighting forces in Europe and the occupation forces in Japan. In 1956, he moved his family from hiladelphia to Albuquerque and went to work for Sandia National Laboratories as a Quality Assurance Engineer. He was a Professional Engineer for over 40 years. Jack retired from Sandia Labs in 1987, after 31 years of service. He supported the activities of St. Pius X High School, where his sons graduated. For up to 35 years, he was a member of numerous organizations, including Sandia Dog Obedience Club, NM Steward Assoc., Sandia Skeet Club, Kirtland AFB Officers Club, Coronado Club at Kirtland, Rio Grande Kennel Club, Thunderbird Travel Trailer Club, and the Central New Mexico Brittany Club. Jack raised Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and a champion Brittany. Rosary will be recited Thursday, July 27, 2000, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Deacon Ubaldo Chavez reciting. Butler -- John E. (Jeb) Butler, 48, passed away Monday, July 24, 2000 to walk hand in hand with the Lord. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Kari and two beautiful daughters, Natalie and Janine. Duran -- Alfonso Duran Sr., 97, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and tio, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, July 24, 2000. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Genoveva Montoya and Perfecto Duran in 1904 in Rainesville, New Mexico. Mr. Duran was the last surviving child of eight. He graduated from Menaul High School in 1928 and attended Highland University. He taught school in the counties of San Miguel and Mora. He worked as the Mora County Clerk, and a bookkeeper for the New Mexico State Corporation Commission and for the New Mexico Bureau of Revenue. He retired in 1969. Mr. Duran was an active member of the Tri-county Menaul Alumni Association; Santa Cruz United Methodist Church; a distinguished officer of the Espanola Lions Club and a board member of the Los Rincones Credit Union. In 1934, he married the love of his life, Dolores Chavez. Along with his wife, his is survived by his children, Alfonso Duran Jr., Mae Baker, Lia Guevarra, and Carlos Duran and wife, Dolores Padilla Duran. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Clarissa Duran, Alejandro and Magdalena Coronado, Danielle Duran, Sonrisa, Douglas and Jaylen Case, Arianne and Brelin Carroll, Alicia Duran and Elena Duran; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 27, 000, 10:00 a.m., at the Santa Cruz United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Heffner officiating. Interment will follow at the Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde. Serving as pallbearers will be Clarissa, Danielle, Alicia and Elena Duran, Sonrisa Case and Arianne Carroll. Gallegos -- Dolores P."Lola" Gallegos, 89, a resident of Albuquerque for over 60 years and originally from Lemitar, New Mexico, passed away July 25, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcial Gallegos in 1988. Garcia -- Mr. Miramon J. Garcia Jr, age 56, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle was called to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 26, 2000. He was a collector and like creating art work. He also worked on special projects for APS. Miramon J. Garcia Jr. was the number one roof doctor in Albuquerque. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Marie C. Garcia, one son Dennis M. Garcia and wife Maxine; grandchildren Brittany Garcia, Dennis Garcia II and Demitri Garcia; mother Trinnie Garcia; five sisters and one brother; and several nieces and nephews. Hansen -- Theresa Hansen (Aunt Grace),91, a resident of Albuquerque for 14 years passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2000. Theresa was born September 20, 1908 in Germany and as a young child immigrated to the US with her family. Prior to moving to New Mexico she resided in New York City. She is survived by her niece, Grace Derrick and husband, Kenneth of Albuquerque; and nephew, Donald Birkmaier of Long Island. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Hansen. Hunt -- Father Ted James Hunt, 77, a priest of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, passed away on July 26, 2000. Father Hunt was born on 1923 in Amsterdam, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Rose B. Hunt; and only sibling, Donald Hunt. Father Hunt is survived by his cousin, Sister Hillary Hacker of Wilmette, IL. Father Hunt served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945 during World War II in the European Theater. He received his theology degrees from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and St. Charles Seminary, Overbrook, Pennsylvania. On May 29, 1954, he was ordained by Archbishop Edwin V. Byrne in Santa Fe, NM. Father Hunt's numerous ministries include serving as: Parochial Vicar at St. Anne Parish in Tucumcari; resident priest of St. Gabriel Church in St. Louis, MO; Archdiocese of Santa Fe Director of High Schools; Principal of St. Piux X High School, Albuquerque, faculty member at St. Michael's College, Santa Fe; faculty member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary, Santa Fe; Chaplain, St. Paul Newman Center, Las Vegas; Chaplain, NM State Hospital, Las Vegas; faculty member, NM Highlands University, Las Vegas; Parochial Vicar, Immaculate Conception, Las Vegas; Pastor, St. Therese of the Little Flower, Albuquerque; Administrator, Queen of Heaven, Albuquerque; Pastor, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Espanola; Archdiocese of Santa Fe Director, Mentor Program for Priests; and Archdiocese of Santa Fe Director of Retired Priests. Jones -- Janice Ann Jones, born November 3, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio, died peacefully on July 18, 2000 at her home in Albuquerque. Growing up in the small town of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky in the nurturing environment of two large and loving families, the Stolle family on her mother, Irma's side and the Pendery family on her father, Roy's side, Janice was blessed with a deep and abiding love of family, remaining close to her entire extended family throughout her life. An Albuquerque resident since 1972, she is survived by her husband of 21 years, Byron Jones; her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Doris Merzweiler and three beloved grandchildren, JoRae, Mikala and Serena Merzweiler of Albuquerque; her sister, Susy and husband, Jack Wadsworth of Hong Kong; her nephews, John Wadsworth of Newport Beach, CA and Christopher Wadsworth and family of San Francisco; and her nieces, Libby Wadsworth Peppis and her family in Eugene, OR; her aunts, Margaret Hilliker, Ann Pendery and Vera Yearout and their families; and 19 cousins and their families. Having suffered through and beaten cancer in her early 40s, and facing debilitating physical challenges the last few years of her life, Janice maintained an indomitable spirit and positive outlook on life that was an inspiration and source of strength to all who knew and loved her. Cremation has taken place and a gathering followed by a memorial will be held Thursday, August 3, 2000, 6:00 p.m., at Ellana Gallegos Campground, 7100 Tramway Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque. Longtime friend, Episcopal Bishop Wallis Ohl, who married Janice and Byron, will officiate. Lopez -- Katherine Lopez, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983, died, Tuesday, July 25, 2000. She is survived by her niece, Dolores Schiess and husband, Eugene of Albuquerque; sisters, Conception Sanchez of Albuquerque and Lily Tabet of Belen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond T. Lopez. She was born August 29, 1905 in Belen, New Mexico. Katherine was a devoted catholic and attended mass daily. During World War II, while her husband, Raymond served in the US Navy, She worked in the war factories in California. Katherine had no children of her own, but was a loving ťMotherť to all her nieces and nephews. She was loved by all her family and her many friends. Her beautiful smile will always be remembered. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Lujan -- Mr. Leon (Joe) Lujan died Monday in Albuquerque at the age of 62. Mr. Lujan served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his brothers, Alfonso Lujan, and Raymond Lujan and wife, Flora; sisters, Carmen Lujan, Andrea Lujan, Berlinda Lujan, and Christina Bonds and husband, Chuck; and several nieces and nephews. Perkovich -- Mrs. Isabel P. Perkovich, 71, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on July 26, 2000. Mrs. Perkovich is survived by two daughters, Rose Coleman of Fountain Valley, CA and Dolores Marino and husband, John of Lexington, S.C.; three grandchildren, Thomas Biggert, Kate and Leslie Coleman; three great-grandchildren, McKenna Coleman, Johnnie Coleman and Zoe Biggert. Sharer -- Helen (Moser) Sharer, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died Monday, July 17, 2000 at Ladera Nursing Home while recuperating from a slight hip fracture. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and her parents, Ray and Myra Moser of Huntington, W. Virginia. She is survived by her brother, Raymond Moser and wife, Juanita of Huntington, W. Virginia; nephew, William Scott Moser and wife, Cathy of Webster, NY; and great-nephews, Eric Moser of California and Geoff Moser of Colorado. Helen is survived by her special friends, Martha Ordonez, the Jarrard family, Freda Voonasis and Daphine and Patrick Tritle. Helen's life is best remembered as independent, hardworking, with a great deal of love for family and friends. She worked as a dental hygienist, a welder at Lockheed Aircraft during WWII, owned a fruit stand in Tijeras and retired from the City of Albuquerque, Water Department. She and her husband were accomplished bowlers and participated in many leagues. Helen loved to read, travel and dine at the Sirloin Stockade. Helen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. Woodall -- Lois Elizabeth (Caldwell) Woodall, 89, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side, Monday, July 24, 2000. Lois was born June 24, 1911 in Weston, CO to Harvey and Elizabeth Caldwell. She grew up at Vermejo Park, NM. From 1939 until 1979, Lois was associated with her father, H. Caldwell and her brother, Earl Caldwell in a family business, H. Caldwell Motor Co., a Chevrolet and Oldsmobile dealership in Belen. She raised her family there who survive her: daughters, Joan Wilson, Jean Franklin, both of Albuquerque and Sue Tabet and husband, Richie of Los Lunas; son, Harvey Woodall of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Tamara Franklin Lang and husband, Mike of New York, NY, Troy, Todd, Travis, all of Albuquerque and Chad Tabet of Los Lunas, Aaron Wilson and wife, Peggy of Rio Rancho, David Wilson and wife, Midge of Las Cruces, Natalie Woodall of Albuquerque, Jerry Glen Franklin of House, NM and Mark Woodall of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren, Matthew Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson and Anna Franklin; nephew, Steve Caldwell of Denver, CO and his daughter, Gillian of Albuquerque; brother, Earl Caldwell and wife, Mary Jane of Palm Desert, CA. Lois loved and was loved by so many family and friends who knew her as a gracious, gentle lady whoťs commitment to her family was unconditional love. She was an angel to all. Her faith in Jesus Christ was a precious gift to us all. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Jack Havens officiating.
