Obituary for Baca

Juan Damacio"Johnny" Baca, originally from Las Nutrias, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2000. He had lived in Las Cruces and currently resided at Sangre de Cristo Nursing Home, Albuquerque for the past 2 1/2 years. Juan was a member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church in Las Cruces. He retired from White Sands Missile Range, and also was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Amelia Baca; his parents, Miquel S. and Rebecca Baca; and one brother, Finbar"Fin" Baca. He is survived by five brothers, Adelaido"Eddie", Efrain, Esmael"Smily" and wife, Elaine, Wilfido"Willie" and wife, Fina, Mike and wife, Betsy; five sisters, Lena Cordova and husband, Ruben, Mary Roebuck, Maria Reyes Jaramillo and husband, Jim, Angie Lovato and husband, Leo, and Elsie Smith and husband, Jim. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at San Isidro Catholic Church in Las Nutrias, Veguita, NM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Vincent Nicosia on Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at San Isidro Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Eddie Baca, Efrain Baca, Smily Baca, Willie Baca, Mike Lucero, Chuck Birner, Ruben Cordova, Leo Lovato, and Jim Jaramillo. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be sent to San Isidro Catholic Church Altar Society, 1059A Hwy. 304, Veguita, NM 87062. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
