Smith -- Sarah"Helen" Smith, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away early Thursday morning, September 7, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital. She is survived by one brother, A.W. Smith of Santa Rosa; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn; two sisters, Fanny Guy and Faye Hamilton; and two brothers, Earl and Joe M. Smith II. She will be missed by all. Helen was born to Joseph M. and Athena Smith on January 12, 1911, in Guadalupe County, NM. She attended school in Guadalupe County and graduated from Santa Rosa High School. Helen and her husband, Lynn Smith, cultivated and established Clines Corners Restaurant and Service Station. Pre-deceased by her husband Lynn, Helen became an entrepreneur and enjoyed a seasonal home in Santa Barbara, CA, where she had many friends. In the latter part of her life, she returned to Albuquerque and retired where she abided for the rest of her life. Services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE, with Dr. Charles Crutchfield officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Davison -- Frank Davison passed away suddenly August 31, 2000, as a result of a construction accident in Santa Fe. He was born March 8, 1959 in Albuquerque. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Davison; his sons, James Alarcon and Joseph Davison of Los Lunas; his mother, Carolyn Franklin of Albuquerque; sisters, Jeannie Rodriguez and her husband, Richard Chavez of Denver, CO, Patricia Goodrich and her husband, Ken of Louisville, KY, Carol Smith and her husband, David of Gainsville, FL; and his brother, Robert Hancock and his wife, Mary of Yukon, OK. He was a resident of Los Lunas for 18 years and a member of the First Baptist Church there. He was a Little League and youth basketball coach. He will be remembered as a great father with a big heart, who had many friends who loved him. Visitation will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, on Saturday, September 2, 2000, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2000, 10:30 a.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Murphy -- Our beloved Lola Lorene Murphy, 75, was called by our Lord on Friday, August 25, 2000. She was born Monday, September 1, 1924 in Montezuma, Kansas to Hugh and Laura Elliott. She was the fifth of ten children. She moved to Albuquerque in 1940. She married her beloved husband, Hanibal Murphy in 1944 and he preceded her in death in December, 1977. Lola was known for her love and giving spirit. Her home was a refuge to many throughout the years as she extended kindness and compassion to those who crossed her path. She showed remarkable strength and courage through ill periods. Lola was a joyful Christian and faithful member of Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church and a founding member of Winona Art and Study Club. She loved jewelry making, cooking, traveling, shopping, puzzles, animals, gardening and fishing. She is survived by two sisters, Opal Smith of Albuquerque, Edith Harrison of Rialto, CA; two brothers, Merle Elliott and wife, Julia of Albuquerque and Pat Elliott and wife, Glenna of Rialto, CA; two daughters, Laura Lipscomb and husband, Donald, Cleonis Farmer of Albuquerque; five step-sons, John Murphy, Clarence Murphy, Eddie Murphy, Joe Murphy, Freddie Murphy of Albuquerque; two step-daughters, Lela Mayfield of Poughkeepsie NY and Dollie Caldwell of Compton, CA; four grandchildren, Melanie Lipscomb, Tierney Lipscomb, Michelle Presser, all of Albuquerque, and Carlester Farmer of Chula Vista, CA; four great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, family and friends. Her counsel, love, and smile will be greatly missed, for we have been made richer having known her. Services will be held at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1901 Pennsylvania NE, with a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, September 1, 2000. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2000, with burial following at Fairview Memorial Park. Gallegos -- Ruth C. Gallegos, 76, passed away August 30, 2000. She is survived by children, Maryellen Martinez and husband, Eddie, Robert Gallegos, John Gallegos, Ray Angel Gallegos and wife, Toni; grandchildren, Daphany Martin, Danielle Brent, Gabrielle Segovia, Desiree Chavez, John Stephen Smith, Jeffrey Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss her. Gentry -- Fern Christine Gentry, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home Monday morning, August 28, 2000. She was born October 28, 1920 to John and Mamie Simpson in Wilderness, MO. Fern married Thomas P. Gentry on January 15, 1941 in Bernalillo. She spent most of her life in El Paso, TX and was a former resident of Albuquerque before moving to Oklahoma City five years ago. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Lewis and Arnold Simpson; and a sister, Sybil Hughes. Fern is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Thomas P. Gentry of the home; daughter, Tomilou Fern Gentry Liddell of Oklahoma City; brother, Rex Simpson of Raymore, MO; two grandchildren, Luci Belinda Liddell, Jesse Duncan Thomas Liddell; and a nephew, Dick Hughes of Ft. Davis, TX. Graveside services will be officiated by Dr. Guy Ames, 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 31, 2000, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City. Smith -- Elva Gertrude Smith, 87, died August 22, 2000 in Phoenix, AR. She is survived by her son, Bill Smith and wife, Darla of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Todd Smith of Farmington, NM, LaShawnda Siemsen and husband, Casey of Fresno, CA, and Cody Smith of Albuquerque; three great-grandchildren, Aleice Smith and Chelsea Smith, both of Ft. Worth, TX, Brandon Smith of Fresno, CA; sister, Yvonne Munn of Prescott, AR; brothers, Ellis Smith of Prescott, AR, and Harold Smith of Texarkana, TX. She was a former longtime resident of Albuquerque, where she retired from Sears. After retiring, she moved to Ruidoso in 1972, where she lived until 1998 when she moved to Arizona. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star in Albuquerque and Chapter No. 65 in Ruidoso. Services will be held Monday, August 28, 2000, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will take place at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Laneburg, AR, with arrangements by Shackelford Funeral Home in Prescott, AR.
