FAJARDO -- Josephine E. Fajardo, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, was born March 6, 1945. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, she was called home to be with her loving Lord, unexpectedly on Monday, June 30, 2008 at the age of 63, after an injury. Josephine graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1965. She married Billy Davis in 1969 and started her family, eventually having two daughters. She was a member of San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. Josephine was preceded in death by her father, Jose P. Fajardo; and her mother, Carolina Fajardo; brothers, Benny and Paul; great-granddaughter, Mariah Davis Tapia. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Sanchez and husband Joe, Carolyn Marquez and husband Gino; grandchildren, Valerie, Ricky, Desiree and Gino Berry; great-grandchildren, Shaun J. and Juliann; sister, Suzanne Tapia and husband Bernie; brothers, John Fajardo and wife Denise of Carlsbad, NM; Richard Fajardo and wife Anna and Bill Fajardo; sister-in-law, Kathy Fajardo of Garland, TX; many nephews and nieces, Bernie Jr. who was like her son and Benny Tapia, Michael, Theresa, John, Amber, Ashley, Richard, Alicia, Lynette, Philip, Aaron and Bryan Fajardo. Services will be held at San Felipe Catholic Church in Old Town. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Joe was a Sgt in WWII with the US Army. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose Marquez Nunez; his six daughters Patricia Funes (Felix), Toni Gallegos (Johnny), Judith Nunez, Jackie Ortiz (Ronnie), Victoria Nunez and Darlene Dimas (Ray); 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; sister Juanita Martinez and brother Pablo Nunez. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson Jordan Greigo and sons David and Alexander Nunez. Rosary will be recited Sunday, July 6, 2008, 5:00 p.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Road, NE. Mass of the Resurrection will be Monday, July 7, 2008, 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors. GONZALES -- Steven J. Gonzales, age 69, a life-time resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2008, after a long battle with various illnesses. He was a long-time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in Peralta and the San Clemente Parrish, in Los Lunas. Steven was also an active member of the Belen Elks Lodge #2499 and numerous other state and community organizations. He retired as a clinical social worker for the Department of Health and continued to work part-time as a counselor for the Department of Vocational Rehab. Steven was always very active in the community and with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank; four brothers, Ruben, Bernie, Robert and Ray; beloved sister-in-law, Sandy Gonzales; nephew, Frankie Gonzales and his baby grandson, Joshua Campbell. Steven is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Bernice; his two sons, Bernie and grandchildren Joel and Olivia and Dante and granddaughter, Lisa; his daughter, Lisa Campbell and son-in-law, John and grandchildren, Nicholas and Caroline; his mother, Manuela; eight siblings, Virginia, Herman, Linda, Johnny, Jimmy, Theresa, Yolanda and Bernadette; his mother-in-law, Lena Connelly and many loving brother and sister-in-laws. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and family members. The Gonzales family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support. All Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, beginning with a viewing on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the San Clemente Catholic Cemetery. MARQUEZ -- Juan Clemente "Johnny" Marquez, 70, of Santa Rosa, NM died Monday, May 5, 2008 at the V.A. Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. He was born July 20, 1937 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Juan C. and Paula (Aguilar) Marquez. He was raised at La Loma and Santa Rosa, NM. He attended school at Santa Rosa until the 9th grade when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served four years. Johnny and his brother, Joe Marquez, owned and operated the Piggly Wiggley grocery store in Santa Rosa for many years. Johnny was active in local and state politics he served on the NM Human Rights Commission, a member of the Santa Rosa City Council, and for several years served as Director of the SURE House in Santa Rosa. He was presently employed at Luna Community College in Santa Rosa. Johnny was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Santa Rosa a past member of the Knights of Columbus and Rotary Club. He began each day at the Puerto De Luna Senior Citizens Center. He enjoyed visiting the casinos, Guadalupe County politics, camping, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Paula Marquez; a brother, Joe B. Marquez; and a sister, Magdalena Chavez. Johnny was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by his longtime companion, Rose Perea, of Santa Rosa; three sons, Elbert Arthur Marquez of Vaughn, NM, Ernest Kennedy Marquez and wife, Stacy, of Santa Rosa, NM, Delbert J. Marquez and wife, Annette, of Henderson, NV; three daughters, Luana Lacey and husband, Robert, of Santa Rosa; Yvette Henderson and husband, Eric, of Green, Ohio; Creselda Diosdado and husband, Ismael, of Houston, TX; three sisters, Esmeralda Zamora of Panhandle, TX; Rose Lopez of Santa Rosa, NM and Theresa Encinias and husband, Manuel, of Las Vegas, NM; also surviving is the mother of his children, Corinne Chavez, of Santa Rosa; thirteen grandchildren, Ethan Marquez, Zachery Marquez, Melissa Marquez, Stephanie Marquez, Jeremy Romero, Adrianna Romero, Brant Henderson, Jimmie Henderson, Daniel Gatewood, Miguel Gatewood, Andre Marquez, Daniel Diosdado, David Diosdado; three great-grandchildren, Keira Gatewood, Keitlyn Romero, and Jeremy Romero Jr. Rosary Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, with Father Antonio Mondragon and Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa. LARA -- Jose Roberto (Bobby) Lara, 61, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 22, 2007 in Socorro, NM. He was born March 8, 1946 in Socorro, NM relocating to Albuquerque, NM in 1973. He served in the Army National Guard for 32 years until his retirement in 1995. Bobby was preceded in death by his step-father, Candy Torres; his brother, Billy; and his son Raymond. He was an amazing father, grandfather, beloved son, uncle, brother-in-law and friend to many. He is survived by his mother, Eva Torres of Socorro; his daughters, Billie Jo Padilla and husband, Carl of Roswell, NM; Bobbie Jo Valdez and husband, Enrique (Kiki) of Belen, NM; grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Padilla; Brittany and Michael Lara; Arianna, Samantha, Sydney and Mario Valdez; numerous loving nieces and nephews and cousins. Bobby was a very giving and caring person who would help anyone in need.
