Jose Roberto (Bobby) Lara, 61, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 22, 2007 in Socorro, NM. He was born March 8, 1946 in Socorro, NM relocating to Albuquerque, NM in 1973. He served in the Army National Guard for 32 years until his retirement in 1995. Bobby was preceded in death by his step-father, Candy Torres; his brother, Billy; and his son Raymond. He was an amazing father, grandfather, beloved son, uncle, brother-in-law and friend to many. He is survived by his mother, Eva Torres of Socorro; his daughters, Billie Jo Padilla and husband, Carl of Roswell, NM; Bobbie Jo Valdez and husband, Enrique (Kiki) of Belen, NM; grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Padilla; Brittany and Michael Lara; Arianna, Samantha, Sydney and Mario Valdez; numerous loving nieces and nephews and cousins. Bobby was a very giving and caring person who would help anyone in need. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 26, 2007 at Steadman-Hall Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Andy Pavlak as Celebrant. Burial will be in the San Miguel Cemetery. Pallbearers are Carl Padilla, Enrique (Kiki) Valdez, Justin Padilla, Jordan Padilla, Andy Romero and Frank J. Jaramillo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Woodard, Manny Marquez, Johnny Armijo, Ben (Chamba) Armijo, Ron Spencer, Leon Miller and Art Ariello. We will miss you and your kindness and generosity. You were always a loving and caring father, son, uncle and friend. Your generosity, compassion and care for others has completed your journey here on earth, may you rest peacefully in heaven, with our Lord, and other family members who have preceded you.
