BERNHARDT -- Barbara Maude Bernhardt, 84, a long time resident of Albuquerque, NM and Versailles, KY died on Monday, June 30, 2008. She is survived by her spouse, Walter Kenneth Bernhardt, also of Albuquerque and Versailles; daughter, Bobbie Kielhofer and her husband, John of Albuquerque; daughter, Tracey Weisberg and husband, Marty of New York; son, Ken Bernhardt and wife, Mary of Lexington, KY; daughter, Annie Low and husband, Stan of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Aisha, Aron, Ashton, Barbara, Carrie, Clayton, Hannah, Kate, Kenny and Margot; great-grandchildren, Abby, Aubrey, Elise, and Shane; and brother, Dr. Ivan Ward Lasher and wife, Helen of Fresno, CA. Mrs. Bernhardt was preceded in death by her brother, Dell Lasher and his wife, Charlene of Animas, NM; and parents, Clayton and Nina Tumblin Lasher, also of Albuquerque. Barbara served honorably during World War II, as a WAC medical technician, at Bruns Army Hospital in Santa Fe. She and Ken were married on August 4, 1945, and raised their family in Northern New Mexico and other locales during 63 years of dedicated marriage. They were members of the Versailles, KY Presbyterian Church, attended Sandia Presbyterian in Albuquerque, and were past members of Palos Park, IL Presbyterian Church. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. BERRY -- Rosella M. Berry, age 89, of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008. Rosella was born in Oregon, but was raised in Las Animas, CO. She married James A. Berry, Sr. in 1939 and, they moved to the Bay Area in California. She relocated to Albuquerque in 1992, and was active in the Westside YMCA. Rosella is survived by daughters, Hannah Elliott and Janet Berry; sons, James Berry and wife Janice, Floyd Berry and wife Carol, Gerald Berry and wife Audrey, Dennis Berry and wife Melinda; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Ruthella Lemke. A Life Celebration Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, at The Rose Garden at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. ELY -- Daniel (Dan) Ely, 84, finished his full and successful life June 26, 2008 at his home on Nettles Island, FL with his devoted and beloved wife, Betty, at his side. Dan was born September 15, 1923 in Chicago, IL to George and Josephine Ely. He is survived by wife Betty; step-daughter Terry Dean and husband John of Houston, TX. Six children from his marriage with Katy Lou McIntosh: David Ely, Todd Ely and wife, Terry, Melissa Ely Martinez and husband, Louis, all of Albuquerque, Erin Ely and Doug Bielefeldt of Eugene OR; Therese Ely-Schmitter and husband, Dan of Seattle, WA, and Laura Ely of San Francisco, CA; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister Joanne McIntosh of San Jose, CA and cousin Stan Reinisch of Chicago, IL. Private services were held in Florida. Dan graduated from High School and the Sea Scouts in Chicago and moved to Albuquerque during the 1940s to attend UNM. While at UNM, he played football and served in the Navy ROTC and made many long-lasting friendships. He graduated and received his Navy commission and was stationed in the Pacific during WWII and remained in the Navy Reserve for many years after returning home. He soon found he enjoyed sales and made a career in automobile retailing that led to his operating the Dan Ely Buick GMC Honda auto dealership in Albuquerque. He had particular interest in the RV industry including manufacturing a line of pickup campers. He was active in both the New Mexico and National Automobile Dealers Associations and GMC Dealer Advisory Board, serving on the boards and on many committees. Also, during his time in Albuquerque, he was active in the community with the Republican Party, particularly the Dave Cargo for Governor Campaign as Chairman and Treasurer; and Co-Chair of the Governor's Inaugural Committee. He also was a member of the UNM Lobo Club where he served on committees and was especially supportive of Coach Bob King and the UNM Men's Basketball program. Dan was appointed to the Board of the New Mexico Springer Boys School. He continued these activities until he sold his business and semi retired to Florida. In Florida, he was active in his community on Nettles Island (an RV Condominium vacation community), elected to the Nettles Island HOA Board and served on the St. Lucie County Code Enforcement Board. He continued his sales career on a semi-retired basis in Condominium sales and tried to wear out his boat and fishing gear by fishing as much as possible. Just as in Albuquerque, Dan made many friends on Nettles Island. Our husband, father and friend will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. FAJARDO -- Josephine E. Fajardo, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, was born March 6, 1945. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, she was called home to be with her loving Lord, unexpectedly on Monday, June 30, 2008 at the age of 63, after an injury. Services will be held at San Felipe Catholic Church in Old Town. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. LAMOUR -- RANDALL JOSEPH, JR. When he departed from his human form on Monday, June 23, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM, Randall Joseph Lamour, had lived almost 31 years. The story of his life would seem unlikely or even impossible to many. Born on July 29, 1977, in Springfield, MA, he traveled the continent extensively: writing and performing music; researching and seeking minerals; protecting; instructing; challenging; uplifting; exploring; bestowing blessings on anyone who befriended him. With a spirit that extends far beyond the confines of flesh and blood, his journeys continue on; his inner fire ever radiating love, strength, and devotion to its highest purpose. Always blazing new trails and expanding the threshold of possibility, he dedicated his energies to inner progress; new growth, and enlightenment of his brothers and sisters on earth. Healer; musician; traveler; scientist; writer; inventor; mentor; husband; father; friend; he has and will continue to be an inspiration to his human family for lifetimes to come. Through the gifts of his music, writing, art, and beautiful daughter, his legacy continues to unfold.In three decades, he experienced, studied, and created more than most people would dream of in a century. He was a man of extraordinary vision, passion, and conviction. His soul inhabits vast depths and untold heights; his influence reaches past the limits of this planet. The glow of his smiling face could light up a city, and the memories he has left us shine with that same light. In his life as in his death; Randall Joseph Lamour embodies the reality that We All Shine On.His wife of ten years, Erinn Manning Lamour; and three year old daughter, Zurial Azure Lamour, are first among countless loved ones who have been impacted by his death. LUTJE -- Roger W. Lutje of Placitas, NM and Pinedale, WY passed away June 28, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends. Roger was born May 17, 1946 in Palo Alto, CA to Wilma and Allain Lutje, he was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Alexandria; and granddaughter, Raquel of the home; son, James of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Terrie Fisher; and nephew, Austin Fisher of Scottsdale, AZ. Roger served in the Navy during Vietnam. His love of golf and travel took him many places. Roger also loved a good party. Roger owned his company for 30 years. NUNEZ -- Joe Lucio Nunez, 86, a life long resident of Albuquerque, after a battle with cancer, went home to the Lord with his family at his side on Monday, June 30, 2008. Joe was a Sgt in WWII, with the US Army. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose Marquez Nunez; his six daughters Patricia Funes (Felix), Toni Gallegos (Johnny), Judith Nunez, Jackie Ortiz (Ronnie), Victoria Nunez and Darlene Dimas (Ray); 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Martinez; and brother, Pablo Nunez. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson Jordan Greigo; and sons David and Alexander Nunez. Rosary will be recited Sunday, July 6, 2008, 5:00 p.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Road, NE. Mass of the Resurrection will be Monday, July 7, 2008, 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors. ROUSSEAU -- Mary "Jeanne" Rousseau, age 81, passed away on June 30, 2008 in Albuquerque. She was born April 12, 1927 in Gravette, AR. Jeanne was raised in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She received her college degree in Religious Education in 1952 at Phillip's University in Enid, OK and later received her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the same college. She played an important part in the Christian ministry of her husband, James, before moving to the Navajo Reservation in 1962. She taught Home Economics for the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Chinle Boarding School, and later, various grades in both Chinle and many farms for Chinle School District until her retirement in 1990. Jeanne retired to Albuquerque and worked as a docent at the Museum of Natural History in the Naturalist Center until her death. She was an active member of her church. Her hobbies included travel, gardening, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, James Rousseau; daughters, Mary Jane Brown and Lisa Blanco; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Jeanne was preceded in death by, her parents, Lloyd Arthur McAllister and Fern Schuler; stepfather, Nick Schuler; daughters, Martha Lynn and Rose Ann; sister, Jayne Holland. SANCHEZ -- JOE S. SANCHEZ 1926-2008 Joe S. Sanchez, age 81, born in 1926 to Jose Sanchez and Adela (Stephens) Sanchez. Joe departed this life to join his beloved granddaughter, Kierstin Marie Sanchez, into eternal life on Wednesday, July 2, 2008. He also joined his parents, Jose and Adela Sanchez; parents-in-law, M.C. and Angelina Baca; three sisters, Triny Garcia, Senaida Sanchez and Molly Gabaldon; and two brothers, Al Stephens and Dennis Sanchez. Joe was active in real estate and owned the Southwest Land Investment Corporation, Valley Real Estate Company, San Miguel Motel, and Brooks Apartments. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and he worked several years for the Railway in Belen. He was a life long member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus and he was very devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Sanchez; three sons, Albert Sanchez, Steve Sanchez, James Sanchez, and wife, Melissa and her parents, Adam B. and Veronica Baca, daughter, Kristi; five grandchildren, Jessica Baca and husband, John, Patrick and Krystle Carrillo, Jeremy and Joseph Sanchez; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Santiago Baca and Marcus Rimorin, brother, Gilbert Sanchez and wife, Ruth; two sisters, Eva Moya and Milly Bobinsky and husband, Jack; brothers-in-law, Ruben Baca and wife, Barbara, Leroy Baca and wife, Sylvia and Mac Baca and wife, Anita and sisters-in-law, Elsie Sachs, Margaret Baca and husband, Ned and Tina Baca. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. All Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a Viewing on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 12:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 12:30 p.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., with Father Stephen Schultz presiding. STELLMAN -- Marc Andrew Stellman, 55 passed away June 26, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born July 7, 1952 in San Francisco, CA, to the late George W. Stellman and Billie F. Williams. In 1957 he moved to Texas with his family. In 1978 he moved to Albuquerque, NM. He was a truck driver most of his life. He is survived by his son, Troy Stellman and wife Rebecca and granddaughter Kirstin of Albuquerque, his sister Linda Holt and husband Gary of Washington, his brother Richard Stellman and wife Judy of Oregon and several nieces and nephews. VAN PELT -- Jacqueline Van Pelt (Jackie) went home to Jesus on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. Jackie was born September 24, 1982. She attended Osuna Elementary School, Madison Middle School, and graduated from Sandia High School in May, 2001. She immediately went to the University of New Mexico, with tuition paid by the lottery scholarship, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2005 with an endorsement in ESL (English as a second language). She also received her masters at UNM in Language, Literature, and Social Cultural Studies on May 12, 2007. She worked part time for Bob Edwards State Farm Insurance Co. while she attended college. Her passion was teaching school, and she received her first teaching assignment as a second grade teacher at Kit Carson Elementary. She loved her students and they loved her. Jackie's favorite hobby was traveling. She was a big Ricky Martin fan and attended several concerts, traveling as far as Puerto Rico to see him. She enjoyed music, played the piano, and sang in the church choir for midnight mass. Jackie is survived by her parents, Dave and Patti Van Pelt; her brother, Dave and wife, Nicole; her two nephews, Kyle and Zack Van Pelt; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; too many to mention. Thanks to all of our friends and relatives for their lifetime of support for Jackie. We could not have done it without you. Our grateful thanks to her doctors: Barbara McAneny, M.D., Gabrielle Adams M.D., James Poliner M.D. and Luis Padilla Paz M.D. Special thanks to her family doctor of 25 years, Robin Tuchler, M.D. In addition, we would like to thank the nurses and staff at Presbyterian Hospital who were so kind and thoughtful when Jackie needed them so many times through the years. Jackie had a passion for children's literacy and would like to support the children of Kit Carson Elementary School.
