BROCK -- B.J. passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008. She was surrounded by her family, with all of the love and strength they could give her to take with her on this new journey. B.J.'s final dream came true when she watched her daughter, Amber, graduate from college just hours before she left this world. B.J. is survived by her daughter, Amber Mares and Jim Bowen; daughter, Nicole and Rob Brown; her grandchildren, Misty Nicole Mares (her partner in crime) and Brandon Lee Mares (her fashion sidekick); Gary Brightbill, her partner in so many aspects; Jynx, Spango, and Deja May, her kitties; sister, Kathy and Mike Everett; brother, Ken Miller; and numerous "family" members including: James Mares, Janice, Tanner, and Carolyn Wood, Rhonda and Doug Abbott, Andrew C. Rogers, Hank and Helen Koller, Kimmy and Shelly DeBord, Azuree Fajardo, Natasha Stephens, Grady Brock, as well as numerous friends. B.J. has now been reunited with her mom and dad, Ruby and Charles O'Connor, Roselyn Baca, Tommy, Happy, and Sissy. B.J. was a very accomplished and successful woman during her lifetime. She was so accomplished that trying to list everything would be too immense. "For the last two days I have been trying to find any words that would come remotely close to describing mom. I have now decided that there are not any in existence. My mom was my strength, my study partner, my biggest fan, my teacher, my role model, and above all she was my best friend! My world is missing one of the most vital aspects needed to be right! My mother was my all; she was my everything. 'Mom, thank you for sacrificing yourself to make sure I was taken care of. Thank you for being my mom, my teacher, and above all for being my friend! Not a day will go by that a thought of you will not go through my mind and my heart! I will forever respect you, learn from you, remember you, and love you! Happy Mother's Day! I hope that it's a good one and one where you have pure happiness and rest. I love you so much and am blessed that I was able to be the biggest part of your world. No mom, it's not my door bell-just sounds like it. Only because I had the 411 on you this whole time. You had to go out teasing me about how I sleep-didn't you? Hope you got the last laugh and did it all the way to nana and nane!" With my heart as yours and all the love I can give to you! Amber-Your Baby Girl "Not a day went by that I did not think of my mom. The lessons I learned from her taught me how to be a strong, independent, loving woman. I will always love my mom and continue to think of her each day. I take comfort in the fact that she is in a better place looking down on all who loved her." Nicole Brown "Mom was a wonderful person. It will be impossible not to miss her being in my life. Not only did she make an impression with me, but she did with anybody she came in contact with. B.J. made so many people happy! I love you mom." Jim Bowen "I have shared many good times with my Nana. She meant a lot to me and if she was here I would want her to know that 'I love you!' Her name is B.J. Brock (aka Nana, Noni, and Mom) to me and my mommy. If I could have one wish, it would be to have my Nana alive! I will love you and miss you forever!" Love Always, Misty "Nana was the best! She was the coolest person I have ever met. I will miss her and enjoyed all of the times I spent with her. I will always remember her and she will always be in my heart!" Love you Nana, Brandon (aka Shorty McGoth Boy, Shorty McTalks A Lot, and Bubba) "B.J. was so many things to me; my friend, my advisor, and my partner in business and in life. She was nothing less than 100%. She lived her life on her terms and if it wasn't right then it just wasn't! Her love for me was like her life-unequivocal. My life is at transition now, and I know the ones who knew her felt it too. We are all a little less without her. Thanks for your love Babe and the grace you brought to my life!" Love Gary "Seasons have come and gone and many things have changed. There is one thing that I am sure of that will always remain the same; B.J. was always there when needed, she gave her shoulder to cry on, had a laugh to make you smile, and she would give a stern word to keep you in line. She always went the extra mile! I know that she will never truly be gone as long as her loving memory remains in my heart!" Love James "What a truly beautiful woman you are! I feel so lucky to have been befriended and loved by both you and Amber. The way that you embraced my kids and I into your heart is a bond that we will forever cherish. Thank you for inviting us into your life B.J. I hope your last memory of me is poking fun at you, not of me repeatedly poking you in the eye trying to remove your contact! I love you B.J.-with all of your grace, warmth and charm. Yours are shoes that can never be filled by anyone." Janice "B.J. was a really great lady who lit up the room every time she walked into it. I didn't know her very long, but I am grateful for the time we had together. She will be greatly missed." Tanner "Nana B.J. was like no other woman. She would have this feeling of security when with her. She was a gorgeous woman who always had a twinkle in her eyes. Whenever she would walk into a room, it would just seem brighter. She was positive, fun, beautiful, funny and she was just a joy to have known. It makes me want to cry that so many people won't have their lives touched by her like mine. Right now I am ready for her to come back home to all of us." Love Carolyn "I have had something very tragic happen in my life. My nana just died. Even though she is not actually my nana, she is like one to me. I really loved her. Even though she was not part of my family she was part of my life. I miss her a lot and wish with all of my heart that she would come back but she can't. I want her to come back. I love you nana!" Love Natasha There will be a wake for BJ at 1601 Muriel Dr NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 with refreshments and memories following the Service!
