ZUKOWSKY -- Myron Zukowsky, age 87, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2006. He was born in Gary, Indiana on May 2, 1919 to the late Steven and Rose Zukowsky. Myron was a retired interior decorator for Bankers Building in Chicago, IL. He and his late wife, Marian moved to Belen in 1986. Myron was a member of the first Baptist Church of Belen. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as an airplane mechanic. Myron was one of the mechanics that serviced the B29 "Enola Gay" on its mission to Japan that dropped the A Bomb. He was a long time member of the Painters Union in Chicago. Myron had a beautiful singing voice and he studied under the famous singing coach, Gertrude Metzger. Myron loved his family dearly and he will be greatly missed by family and friends. Myron is survived by his two loving sons, Leith and his wife, Andrea of Tuscon, AZ, and Gregory and his wife, Kathy of Belen; one granddaughter, Hattie-Maria Zukowsky and one great-grandson, Nathanyal-Wyatte Zukowsky, both of Tuscon. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. A private viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 7 at 1:00 p.m. All services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel beginning with a viewing on Monday, August 7 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Final visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8 from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery. BACA -- Nemesina Baca, age 91, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, went home with our Lord, Monday, July 31, 2006. She was born in La Jara, NM; and was a resident of Albuquerque. Nemesina was an active member of the Catholic Church; Blue Army, and Las Carmelitas of Mt. Carmel Mission. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and caring for her rose garden, and especially spending time with her family and friends. Nemesina is survived by her loving daughter, Theresa Sanchez and Jeremaiah Anderson; one granddaughter, Bernadette Sanchez and Mario Martinez; step-son, Julian Baca and wife, Camilla; her loving siblings, Andres Maestas and wife, Carolina, Alex Maestas and wife, Texann, Bennie Maestas and wife, Reina, Petrita Lucero and husband, Pete, Maria Garcia, Ella Hill, Lucinda Chavez, Dolores Lovato, and Susie Segura; sisters-in-law, Fannie Maestas and Mellie Maestas; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Nemesina will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Visitations will be today (Wednesday) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary for Nemesina will be recited Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. TORRES -- Jose Ignacio Torres, 72, longtime resident of Albuquerque, originally from Taos, went home to our Lord on Sunday, July 30, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; six children, Emily, Loretta and husband, Dennis, Berlinda, Peggy and husband, Gabriel, Pamela and husband, George, and David and wife, Susan; nine grandchildren, Leslie, Valerie, Amanda, Aaron, Michael, Elias, David, LeaJo, and Mathias; one great-grandchild, Jameson; two brothers, Elden and John Torres; and many extended family and friends. Mr. Torres was preceded in death by his parents, Jacobo and Manuelita; in-laws, Clemente and Maria; and his brothers, Octaviano and Julian. He was a hard working carpenter and rancher and loved walking, spending time in the outdoors and socializing with everyone that came his way. Mr. Torres was also a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, 9:00 a.m., at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th Street NW. ARAGON -- Espiridion O. "Speedy" Aragon, age 85, a resident of Valencia, NM, passed away on July 29, 2006. He was a member of Valencia Catholic Church and a veteran of World War II. Espiridion was a lifetime Valencia County farmer and also drove a school bus for the Los Lunas Schools. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita O. Aragon, who passed away on January 1, 1996; his brothers, Tony Aragon, and Jamie Aragon. He is survived by his daughter, Vitalia A. Chavez and her husband, Roman of Belen; his four sons, Celestino Aragon and his wife, Loretta T. of Valencia, Ralph Aragon of Valencia, Frank Aragon and his wife, Nadine, Delfin Aragon and his wife, Ida of Los Lunas; four sisters, Pablita A. Aragon, Emelia Aragon, Virginia Aragon, and Eufemia Aragon; one brother, Jose Maria Aragon; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. All services will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Sandia Cristo Church beginning with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Valencia Catholic Cemetery. LIRA -- RUDY JR. and WANDA Mr. Rudy Lira Jr. and Mrs. Wanda Lira residents of Albuquerque passed away as the result of an automobile accident on July 28, 2006, and are now in heaven with our Lord. Rudy is survived by his mother, Maria Lira; his seven loving children, Candice Lopez, Emerald Lira, Jade Lira, Elijah Lira, Josiah Lira, Ariana Lira and Raelyn Lira; two sisters, Myrna Lira and husband, Ceasar Andazola, Mayra Lira and husband, Leonel Cuellar; a nephew, Leonel Cuellar Jr.; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Rudy was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Lira Sr. Wanda is survived by her father, Bob Ware and his wife, Lorraine; her mother, Anna Ware; her three loving children, Jonathan Sanchez, Ariana Lira and Raelyn Lira; one brother, Bobby Ware Jr.; two sisters, Gracy Tenorio and Leslie Ware; her grandparents, Joe and Mercedes Turrietta and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rudy and Wanda were member of the Catholic Church. GRESHAM -- Thomas Wayne Gresham, 70, born April 8, 1936 in Mt. Park, OK, passed away July 26, 2006 at home in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.A. and Lurlene Gresham; brother, Joe Gresham; and sister, Evelyn Patton. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nelma Gresham; three sons, Danny and wife, Audry of Ridgecrest, CA, Monty and wife, Misty of Albuquerque, Brian and wife, Maria Martinez of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Sheldon and wife, Erica, Patricia, Kyle, Kiva, Keaton, Aaron, Shane, Brandon, Brianna; and three great-granddaughters, Bailey, Faith, and Ashley; sisters, Juanita Click and husband, Bill, Bernadene Haywood; and brother-in-law, Arville Patton. Wayne was a resident of Albuquerque for 37 years where he owned and operated DMB General Contractors for the past 30 years. Prior to this he farmed in Texas and Colorado. MARTINEZ -- Matias Martinez, 93, of Albuquerque, and formerly of Leadville, CO, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 in an Albuquerque nursing home. He was born April 17, 1913 in Llano, NM to the late Gavino and Alicia Martinez. Matias began his working career in Leadville where he worked for American Smelting and Refining Company for numerous years. He opened the Grill Cafe in 1965 with Robert Martinez, Sr. They jointly owned and operated it for several years. He retired from New Jersey Zinc Company in Gilman, CO after 26 years of service in the mine and in other positions within the company. Matias was liked by everyone and never got involved in controversy. Matias was a very gentle and kind person who was devoted to his family, friends, the Catholic Church and his God. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors. When asked how he wanted to be remembered, Matias said, "I want everyone to remember how we spent time together and how we always took care of each other. I also want them to remember I was the best person I could be. I always want people to say that I never spoke badly about anyone and I want them to remember that I did the best I could in my life. I worked hard, I took care of my family and loved my dear Lord, my God, my Father with all my heart." He was preceded in death by the love of his life and companion of 22 years, Cidelia Gomez-Gurule on May 8, 2006; his two sisters, Maria Inez Martinez and Porfiria Martinez; his brother, Manuel Martinez; his two half-brothers, Juan Jose Arguello and Genaro Arguello. Matias is survived by his son, Manuel Martinez of Leadville, CO; his daughter, Annablle Vigil and husband, John of Broomfield, CO; his step-children, Ruby Danbury and Nancy Romero, both of Albuquerque, LeRoy Gomez and wife, Diane of Ft. Collins, CO, Delfino Gomez of Wheatridge, CO, Marie Brodie of Scottsdale, AZ, and Thomas Gomez and wife, Kathleen of Arvada, CO; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 29, 2006, 10:00 a.m., at Annunciation Catholic Church in Leadville, CO with Father Jay Jung, Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Leadville, CO.
