SIMON, HELEN BARBARA Mother, Mom, Moma to her five surviving children, passed away in her sleep on July 31, 2014 at 97 years of age. She was a walking, talking, living, breathing, Wikipedia, encyclopedia Britannica, spellcheck, grammarian and moral compass. She devoured information, loved baking, Bridge, artwork and music. I think she liked us kids too. Above all she was a lady, a class act that her offspring must strive to live up to. A lady she was but when the cards were dealt, she was a ruthless shark. She was born on November 14, 1916 and died July 31, 2014. She is survived by five adoring children, Joan Brooks, Kathy Puglisi, Greg Simon, Pete Simon and Pattie Cox. The list of grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren totals 65, too long to name each. Almost everyone was able to visit or speak with her during her last two weeks of life. She was still her smart and humorous, same card-playing self, until she went to bed and didn't wake up two days before her death. You made your life and your death easy for us and we loved you deeply. Thank you. Services to honor this amazing woman will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 6701 Wyoming Blvd. NE at 10:30 a.m. A celebration of her life will follow in the Vineyard Community Room at 1:30 p.m., 6118 Edith Blvd NE. Anyone who attends who would like to share a memory is invited to come prepared to do so. For those who are unable to attend and would like to express their thoughts please go to danielsfuneral.com where her obituary will be listed also.
