PALMER, DAVID E. David Eldon Palmer passed away July 19, 2014, soon after being diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. He was born December 15, 1929 in Raton, NM. David was one of six children born to M.R. and Beulah Palmer, all whom preceded him in death. David was an Albuquerque High School Alumni, class of 1948. Shortly after graduation, David joined the United States Air Force. He spent 3 years in the USAF, stationed in the Philippines during the Korean Conflict. David ultimately earned the rank of Staff Sargeant, working as a Crew Chief for aircraft maintenance. After his honorable USAF discharge, David attended and graduated from the University of NM in 1956 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He spent the better part of his life living his passion of teaching. David taught both middle school and high school vocational classes during his 26 years with the Albuquerque Public Schools. His retirement did not bring about a slower pace of life as David owned his own handyman service and kept his passion for building alive. When not making kitchen cabinets for friends, maintaining swamp coolers or helping at his local church, David found his relaxation on the golf course. His weekly, and later bi-weekly, golf games allowed him many fun hours with family and friends. While never a scratch golfer, David garnered more than one trophy at the Annual UMC Golf tournament. Even in his later years, his passion for golf never wavered as he would tune into the Golf Channel every day for nap time. His love for the game of golf, teaching and creating beautiful works of art from wood was only ever overshadowed by his faith and love for his wife and Family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn J. (Wheeler) Palmer; their five children: Debbie Knoll and husband, Darrell; Bobbie Mesquita and husband, Mike; Keith Palmer and wife, Joan; Mark Palmer and wife, Sadie; and Mary Beth Gonzales; seventeen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
