MOORE, MILDRED Long time Albuquerque resident, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014. She was 99. Millie was born in Mendon, Vermont. Her parents, Harry and Georgia Moore, were farmers. Millie had only one sibling, Charlotte, who passed away in 2004. When Millie finished high school, she attended business school receiving a secretarial degree. She enlisted in the Army in 1943 working in Communications. She completed her service in 1945. She remained state-side for the duration of her Military Life. She wanted to live in a sunny, dry, mountainous area and when she located Albuquerque (with her best friend Ginny) she knew this was the place she wanted to live her life. Millie started working for attorneys and worked in that capacity for many years. We all remember the striking tall lady with the white hair working at the American Bank of Commerce in Downtown Albuquerque. She worked there from the late 60's until she retired in the late 70's. Starting her banking career as a secretary and holding the title of Vice President when she retired. Millie loved a good Martini. When asked by her Hospice Nurse, "what is the secret to your having such a long life?" Her answer, "good Martinis and young friends". She never lost her sense of humor, or her senses, for that matter! She traveled and volunteered at the Downtown Library after she retired. In honor of Millie's wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no service.
