Lewis -- Dr. Edward S. Lewis, DDS, 92, passed away in Omaha, Nebraska on November 4, 2002. He was survived by his daughters, Sharon McGill of Omaha, Nebraska, Celeste Finch and her husband, Robert of Farmington, New Mexico; son Edward Lewis of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; two nieces and a nephew. Cremation has occurred and interment will be private. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Albuquerque Garden Center, 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87112. Maestas -- Martha Ortega Maestas, 91, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully November 8, 2002, in her home after a long and fruitful life.¯She was born in Chimayo, New Mexico, the third of five children to Nicasio and Virginia Trujillo Ortega, a world-renowned family of weavers.¯Martha is a graduate of Loretto Academy in Santa Fe and St. Joseph College in Albuquerque.¯She became an elementary school teacher, teaching primary grades in both Santa Fe and Rio Arriba Counties and the Albuquerque Public Schools for many years.¯She was an outstanding educator and dedicated her life to her students and to her family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Sigfredo Maestas, and two brothers, Jose Ramon and Richard Ortega. She is survived by her three children, Olivia Rivera and husband, Jerry of Albuquerque; Eli Maestas of Albuquerque, and Albert Maestas and wife, Mary from Tulsa, OK.¯She had 6 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Victor Maestas and wife, Lavone of Placitas, NM, Michael Maestas and wife, Gabriella of San Francisco, CA, Thomas Maestas of Albuquerque, W. Gary Rivera and wife, Kate of Albuquerque, Elizabethann de Leon Maestas and Jeanine de Leon Maestas of Tulsa, OK; her brothers, David Ortega of Chimayo and Medardo and wife, Jenny of Albuquerque; along with many nephews and nieces.¯She was dearly loved by her family and her life was a wealth of contribution to others.¯Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE, with Deacon Bob Lewis reciting.¯ Mass will be celebrated Monday, 1:30 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl SE, with Father Robert Chabot, SSS, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.¯ Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel for a viewing at time of rosary.¯¯

Phillips -- Rev. Joney L. Phillips, age 74, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Thursday, November 7, 2002. Rev. Phillips was a resident of Los Lunas formerly of Torreon, NM. He was past Pastor of the Rock Springs Holiness Mission in Torreon, NM for 30 years; and a proud Veteran of the United States Army. Rev. Phillips is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pauline M. Phillips of the family home; his children, Beverly Hines and husband, Tom of Albuquerque and Dwight Phillips and wife, Eileen of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Sherrill and Barbara Hooper; one brother Lewis Phillips; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be held Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Interment will follow at the Cuba Baptist Cemetery in Cuba, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband Ricardo Gutierrez; her parents, Alcario and Candelarita B.Cardenas; and a brother, Andres Cardenas. She is survived by her loving children, Herman Gutierrez and wife, Mary of Bernalillo, Candy Reams and husband, Paul of Bernalillo, Olojia Lucero and husband, Alex of Placitas, Victor Gutierrez and wife, Dorothy of Bernalillo, Carmen Valdez and husband, Luciano of Placitas, Cordelia Grauf, Felix Gutierrez of Albuquerque, Frances Candelaria and husband, Gilbert of Placitas, Jane Mujica and husband, Felipe of Bernalillo, Joe Gutierrez and wife, Debbie of Bernalillo, Joyleen Estrada and Albert Jacquez of Bernalillo, Rick Gutierrez and wife, Lorraine of Albuquerque; 31 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Lewis -- Nanette Lewis, age 33, of¯ Florence, Texas passed away Thursday, October 31, 2002 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Bell County, Texas. Nanette was born October 2, 1969 in Albuquerque to Michael and Trudie Weiss. Nanette graduated from Manzano High School and Nursing School in June 1988. She joined the Army in 1994. Nanette spent four years active duty at Ft. Hood in Texas where she met her husband, Robert Lewis. She married Robert on March 26, 1996. Nanette worked for Cosentra Healthcare in Round Rock, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lewis of Florence; step-son, Kylar Lewis of Jasper, Texas; parents, Michael and Trudie Weiss of Edgewood, New Mexico; brother, Curtis Weiss and wife, Jennifer of Tijeras; niece and nephew, Cameron and Kaitlyn Weiss of Tijeras; grandmother, Leota Gee of Edgewood; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and two loving dogs, Dallas and Abilene. The family will receive guests for Visitation from 12:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2002 at Young Memorial Chapel in Florence, Texas. Dean is survived by her daughter, Pat Raymond and husband, Harry of Albuquerque; son, Homer D. Day, Jr., and wife, Rosemary of Denver; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Home D. Day, Sr and daughter, Betty Metcalf. In her younger days, she was active in the Daughters of the Nile Patrol and Albuquerque Bridge circles. Greco -- Claire Greco, 76, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1988, passed away on October 28, 2002. She is survived by her son, Anthony"Chip" Greco, III and wife, Carrie of Amarillo, TX; three daughters, Jill Greco of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Jeri Bishop and her companion, Steve Morgan of Los Alamos, Jan Clark and her companion, Mike Quintana of Albuquerque; one brother; and one sister, both of Port Henry, NY. Claire is preceded in death by her husband, Chick; a granddaughter, Christy Greco; and son-in-law, Tommy Bishop. She was a member of the St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Claire touched many lives during her nursing career, which spanned more than 40 years of active service. She was an avid golfer and loved to travel. Before moving to Rio Rancho, Claire was a resident of Los Alamos from 1948 until 1988. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 Blocks N. of Paseo del Norte) with Deacon Bob Lewis, reciting. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW with Father John Conway, Celebrant.
