Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla, NM. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 11:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla, NM. Interment will follow at Garcia Cemetery in Garcia, CO. Gonzales -- Nires C. Gonzales, a long time resident of Valencia, NM, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2002, after a long illness. She was a member of the Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church in Valencia. Preceding her in death were her two sons, Elfigo and Robert Gonzales, and her daughter, Elaine Gonzales. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Santos of the family home; three daughters, Bertha Schenck and her husband, Jerry of Albuquerque; Betty Tapia and her husband, Orlando of El Cerro; Roselyn Cordova and her husband, Michael of Las Nutrias; and one son, Joe Gonzales and his wife, Nancy of Los Lunas. Nires is also survived by her many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all adored her. All services will take place at the Sangre de Christo Catholic Church. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 6 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow in the Valencia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her loving grandchildren, Jolane Padilla, Andrea Justice, Salina Sais, Analisa Hawkins, Armando and Miguel Cordova, Marcos Schenck, Rico and Nancy Jo Gonzales, and Mark Sanchez. Garcia -- Ernest Garcia, 43, went to be home with his father, Jose Garcia and brother, Anthony Garcia, on August 17, 2002. He is survived by his mother, Dolores Garcia; children, Steven, Joseph, Marie and Olivero Garcia, and Maxamilliano Cordova; grandchildren, Anita Garcia and Joseph Garcia Jr., and Julian Arguello; sisters, Sylvia and Eileen Garcia, and Helen Beitran; three nieces; two nephews; one great-nephew; and best friend, Robert Gallegos. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at Fairview Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Steven, Joseph, Olivero, Robert, Jorge Beitran and Mark Neuman. Honorary pallbearers will be Marie Garcia, Maxamilliano Cordova, Michelle Cordova, and Phillip Canomar. Martinez -- Benito Martinez, age 88, passed away August 26, 2002 at his home in Vaughn, NM. Benito was born February 2, 1914 in Las Tusaz, NM to the home of Pedro and Josefita Vigil Martinez. He was reared and attended schools in Vaughn. Benito married Josefina Cordova in 1933. She preceded him in death in 1955. In 1955 Benito married Cipriana Lesperance. Benito worked for the Santa Fe and Southern Pacific Railroad as a Section Hand for over 37 years. He assisted in building the Vaughn City Hall as well as the sidewalks around the Vaughn Area during the WPA. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Benito loved music and taught his nine daughters to sing and harmonize together and also taught them to play various instruments. He loved for his daughters to sing to him. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Josefina; an infant son; grandsons, baby, Jessie Juan Romero and baby, Ruben Griego; his brother, Frutoso Martinez, Blas Martinez, Eliseo Martinez and Samuel Martinez. Survivors include his wife, Cipriana Martinez of the family home in Vaughn; his daughters, Elisa Roe and husband, Russell of Rio Rancho, Mary Esther Baker and husband, Garey of Conchas Dam, Lila Willoughby and husband, Jim of Rio Rancho, Della Binkowski and husband, Richard of Rio Rancho, Virginia Gauna and husband, Louie of Albuquerque, Carol Pohl and husband, Joe of Albuquerque, Grace Roybal and husband, Tommy of Fort Sumner, Jeanette Lopez and husband, Daniel of Vaughn and Judy Romero and husband, Daniel Gutierrez of Edgewood; brothers, Juan Martinez and wife, Marina of Phoenix, AZ, Arturo Martinez and wife, Antonia of Santa Rosa; and his sister, Gloria Hernandez of Albuquerque. Also surviving are his 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and eight reat-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary Services will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Mary's Church in Vaughn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Mary's Church with Father John Jasinski officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Serving as Pallbearers will be all his grandsons. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Rudy Martinez, Pete Zamora, Gene Apodaca and Jerry Apodaca. Bunda -- Frank E. Bunda, 78, a resident of Tijeras since 1980 died Saturday, August 24, 2002. Mr. Bunda is survived by his wife of 53 years, Emily Carolyn Bunda of Tijeras; son, Steven Edward Bunda and wife, Doris Jean of New Castle, PA; daughter, Debbie Neely and husband, Sonny of Breckenridge, CO; son, Lonnie Edward Collins of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Timothy Allan Bunda and wife, Elisa, Shauna Neely, Justin Neely and Jennifer Collins; great-grandchildren, Christopher Bunda and Megan Bunda; and sisters, Mercedes Helmar of Rancho Cordova, CA and Lois Scheleher of Florida. Mr. Bunda was born in Trenton, NJ and served in the United States Navy during WWII. After WWII he attended Georgia Tech where he got his degree in electrical engineering. He was involved with the United States Space Program since its inception and he helped to establish the control center in Houston. He worked for Philco Ford, which became Ford Aeroneutronics from which he retired in 1980 after 30 years. He has lived in Tijeras since that time. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him. Services will be Tuesday, August 27, 2002, 12:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel with Rev. Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Torrez -- Sara Gutierrez Torrez, 91, went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2002. She was born on October 18, 1910 in Chilili, NM to the late Martin Gutierrez and Bernardita Mahony. She was a parishioner of San Jose Parish and a member of the Sacred Heart League. She is preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Torrez. She is survived by her son, Willie Torrez and wife, Cruzita of Albuquerque; sister, Lina Connelly; daughters-in-law, Bernice Torrez and Sadie Torrez.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Sara will be deeply missed by her loving family. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary at 7:00 p.m.. A final will be on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jerry Cordova, Rudy Torrez, Garland Torrez, Felix Torrez, Lanny Torrez and Michael Torrez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edwin Torrez, Anthony Torrez and Liberato Rael. Padilla -- Trinidad E. Padilla, age 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969 passed away Tuesday evening, August 6, 2002. Mrs. Padilla was born on November 1, 1912 in Cimmeron, New Mexico. She is survived by her loving children, Loretta and Walter Crespin of Albuquerque and her beloved grandchildren, Kyle Crespin and Kimberlee Crespin and fiancée, Jeff Richards. She is survived by her best friend and sister, Rufina Espinosa, sister, Mae Fernandez and husband, Louis, and brother, William Espinosa and wife, Sadie; numerous nephews and nieces, and many friends and neighbors. She is also survived by members of the Crespin Family who have embraced her as one of their own. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Padilla; her parents; sisters, Mary Padilla and Cleotilde Cordova and brothers, Ray Espinosa, Adolph Espinosa, and Franklin Espinosa. She was a longtime member of San Felipe Church and the DAV Auxiliary. Trini loved life and especially the time spent with her family. Sanchez -- Mr. Tony A. Sanchez, 62, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 2, 2002 with his loving family at his side. Mr. Sanchez is survived by his companion, Virginia Sapien; two daughters, Elizabeth Walker and husband, Bruce and Myra Mazzetta; two sons, Antonio L. Sanchez and wife, Bessie C., Robert Sanchez and wife, Joyce; three sisters, Kandy Cordova and husband, Smiley, Sally D'Attalo and Mary Jane Luna and husband, Lano; two brothers, Alex Sanchez and wife, Daisy and Luciano Sanchez and wife, Pauline; six grandchildren, Michael, Valerie, Jacqueline, Kathleen, Jeff and Placita.
