ANAGNOSTOU -- Jean Markowitz Anagnostou went home to be with our Lord on Friday, July 31, 2009. Jean was born on Wednesday, June 13, 1956 in White Plains, NY. She moved to Albuquerque in 1979 where she met her best friend and now her husband for the past six years. Jean is survived by her husband, Spiro Anagnostou of the family home; sister, Betty Ann Dowless of Albuquerque; brother, John Markowitz and wife, Margo of New York; nieces and nephews, Kathleen, Kimberly, Katie, James and Johnny; father and mother-in-law, John and Kiki Anagnostou; sisters-in-law, Tasia and Kathy of Greece and Kalliopi of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Markowitz. Jean will be deeply missed and her memory will be greatly cherished. GARCIA -- Philip Garcia was born May 14, 1931 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, he passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the age of 78. Philip was preceded in death by his mother and father, Manuelita Perea Garcia and Santiago Garcia and by his daughter, Yvonne Garcia and his son, Johnny Garcia. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Jane Montoya of Albuquerque, Phyllis Montez and husband Tom of Pueblo, CO, Geraldine Garcia of Denver, CO, Barbara Garcia of Albuquerque, NM; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. A Communion Service will be celebrated at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church in Old Town on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 10:00am. Private family burial will follow at a later time. GARZA -- Martha (Vigil) Garza, age 74, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on July 28, 2009. She was surrounded by her family. Martha was born May 6, 1935, to Jessie and Tom Vigil. She was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and enjoyed her family immensely, especially her grandchildren. She rarely missed a sporting event involving her family and her beloved Lobos. She loved traveling and crocheting and made the best tortillas, tamales and natillas in town. She was the secretary of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Queen of Heaven Conference, and a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Society. Martha is survived by her husband Erasmo Garza; her brother Orlando Vigil; uncle Edward Padilla; brothers and sisters-in-law Bruce and Sylvia Banks, Rudolfo and Edna Garza, Victor and Lydia Gonzales and Marcella Garza; her children Daniel Garza, Henry Garza (Geri), Christine Garza Bronson (Nicholas), Larry Garza (Michelle) and James Garza (Michelle); 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces and grandnephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law Angeline and William Green; brother-in-law Fernando Garza; aunt Feliciana Padilla; uncle Johnny Duran; uncle Ross; and aunt Lucy Duran. Honorary Pallbearers Francisco Duran, Christopher Garza, Mark Garza, Dylan Garza, Johoshua (JAG) Garza and David Garza. CHAVEZ -- Robert "Bobby" J. Chavez, age 83, a life long resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2009. He was a decorated World War II veteran, he returned to Albuquerque, and worked at Sandia Laboratory as a procurement officer. He retired from Sandia Labs. Mr. Chavez is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Della Chavez; children, Robert Chavez, Jr., Rudy Chavez (Diana), Carol Chavez, Steve R. LUCERO -- Felix Lucero of Albuquerque passed away on July 25, 2009. He was born on April 9, 1926 in Tome, NM. He and wife Stella were married in Manzano, NM on September 20, 1949 and spent the last 60 years together. After his disability 40 years ago, if you saw one, you knew that the other was not far behind. He was only 20 years old when he also became parent of his younger brothers and sisters after they lost their parents. He suffered for many years with multiple illnesses but was always happiest spending time with his family. He was a Quarter Master for the Boy Scout Troop 118 of San Jose Parish in the 1960's and, was a church Padrino at San Jose. He loved the outdoors and while he could, he enjoyed camping, hunting and the annual family matanza. He is survived by Stella Lucero, wife of 60 years; children, Cipriano Lucero, Niva Garcia, Edward and wife Theresa Lucero, Johnny Lucero, Louis and wife Margaret Lucero, Lorraine Torres, Theresa Archuleta, Martha Hayes; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brother Florian Lucero and wife Felez; sister- in- law Lucila Lucero, wife of Tobias Lucero, sister- in- law, Juana and husband Celedon Griego, brother- in-law, Polinario and wife Bernice Chavez, sister- in-law, Crucita and husband Willie Torrez, sister- in-law Corina Torrez, brother- in-law Daniel Chavez, sister- in- law Cleo Naranjo, sister- in- law Ernestina and husband Danny Madrid. MONTANO -- Rufina Montano, 81, passed away Friday July 24, 2009. She was preceded in death by husband Jose Blas Montano and sons: Willie and Johnny Montano. Rufina is survived by sons: Nicolas Montano and wife Margie, Andres W. Montano and wife Denise, and George Melini and wife Marie; daughters: Dorothy Levitte and husband William, Mary Bunn and husband Kevin, Lorraine Williams and husband Jesse, Gloria Intogna and Ruby Montano, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved teaching children at the Centro de Amor pre-school and was known as Grandma to all the children.
