PADILLA -- Apolo Padilla, 77, a resident of Albuquerque died Saturday, June 27, 2009. Apolo was born November 23, 1931, in La Ventana, NM, the first-born son of Atanacio and Juanita Adonelia Padilla, who predeceased him. Apolo is also preceded in death by his brothers Adonaiz and Isidro Padilla. He is survived by his daughter Ruby Chavez and husband Paul; three brothers, Frutoso, Frank and wife Teresa, and Johnny and wife Judy. He is also survived by four sisters, Priscilla Carrillo and husband Lurie, Pauline McMaster and husband Ray, Lucille and Abel Gamboa, Annabelle Carrillo and husband Luis. He is also survived by stepchildren Richard Sanchez and wife Joanne, Ronnie Sanchez, Rita Trujillo and husband Ray, and Ruth Chavez. He was affectionately known as Uncle Polo to his nieces and nephews. His other family members, friends, and many cousins will miss him dearly. A Rosary will be recited at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 9502 4th St NW, on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. with Mass to be celebrated following the Rosary at 9:00 a.m. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.

TAFOYA -- Pete Tafoya, Jr., age 76, a lifelong resident of Los Lunas, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at his home. Pete loved the outdoors, especially hunting wild game with his boys. He enjoyed farming his own garden. Pete proudly served as a 1st Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Evangelista Tafoya; brothers, Jesus and Jose Tafoya; sisters, Mercy Ellis and Erlinda Griego and his son, Richard Tafoya. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carmen; children, Theresa Romero and husband, George, Charles Tafoya and wife, Yvonne, Peter Tafoya, Julian Tafoya and wife, Joann, Gloria Tafoya and friend, Sanje and Josephine Archuleta and husband, Louie; brothers, Johnny and Martin Tafoya and sisters, Angie Jones and Adela Beck. Pete was also blessed with 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Pete's life will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 5:00 p.m., at God's Church on the Move, 19768-A, Belen, NM 87002. Interment will be private. EICHNER -- Ray H. Eichner, 90 years old, passed away June 15, 2009, after a brief illness. He is survived by a loving and devoted daughter, Carri Carpenter and Johnny Rucker; grandson, Dr. Tom Carpenter his wife Susan, and their children, Aaron, Austin and Evan; granddaughter, Kathy Carpenter-Heise her husband Rick and daughter Ariann; grandson, Ken Carpenter and his sons Dakota, Dustin and Robbie Sandlin; Sister Ruth Johnson her husband Melvin and their daughter's Jody Brown and Beverly Duensing; brother, Leroy Eichner and sons Larry and Steven and numerous loved family members. A special thanks to a devoted friend, Dora Santiago. He will be missed by many, many friends. Ray was the beloved husband of Genevieve, whom he married May 4, 1940 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She preceded him in death on May 30, 1997. He joined the Armed Forces of the United States as an aviation cadet on his birthday, May 22, 1944 and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, in the now called United States Air Force. Ray flew a P-38 during World War II on many successful missions earning numerous awards. In 1963 he completed 20 years in the Air Force Reserves before finally retiring. After the war, Ray returned to his farm life in Nebraska. The failing farm economy led him to move to Albuquerque in 1953. He held a job with Tellyer Pipe Company. This led to his decision to own his own business. He opened up the Ray H. Eichner Farmer's Insurance Agency in 1962. He retired after 40 years of dedicated service. Ray was an avid member of the Optimist International Club. He joined the local chapter in 1956 and became President in 1964. In 1965 he was elected Governor of the New Mexico-Texas District. In 1958 he joined the Executive Association of Greater Albuquerque and became president in 1975. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009 at French Mortuary, Lomas location, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Ogallala, Nebraska. GALLEGOS -- Rose A. Gallegos, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, sister and friend passed on to eternal life with the Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. She was 91. Rose was born to Antonio Anaya Sr. & Maria Tellez on June 30, 1917 in San Antonio, NM. She married her late husband Ernest Gallegos on May 7, 1941 in Socorro, NM, together they had six children and he preceded her in death in 1996. She leaves behind their precious son, Ernest T. Gallegos; four daughters, Ernestine Hicks and her husband, Bill, Helen Clay and her husband, Stef, Patricia Johnson, and Fran King; two sisters, Ninfa Archuleta and her husband, Aniceto, and Katie Mendoza and her husband, Epitacio, both from New Mexico; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosanne Campos; grandson, James Sedillo; her sisters, Lucella Sullivan and Sinfie Torres; her brothers, Tony, Manuel, Euesvio and Johnny Anaya. Rose was a dedicated mother and a volunteer in the Albuquerque community all her life. She was awarded Senior of the Year and honored by Governor Bruce King. Rose was recognized for her many years of loyal service to U.S. District Court in 1975. AARP awarded her with the Certificate for Gratitude & Dedicated Service to AARP from 1983 to 2000. The Office for Senior Citizens of Bernalillo County and the Office of Senior Affairs awarded her Outstanding Service to the Community in 1992. She was the liaison person for St. Bernadette Catholic Church at Rio Vista Senior Living Apartments for 22 years with the help of Sister Bea. She was presented a Certificate for Outstanding and Dedicated Services by "Princess Jeanne Meal site", where she proudly prepared and served meals every week for 15 years Seniors and Homeless in her Community. She was a RSVP Volunteer; she received an award for 25 years of service from IRS. She was an avid athlete and trained for "Senior Olympics" for 25 years. She won many 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place ribbons at City and State levels in Jogging, Sprint, Walking, Discus, and Bowling. She loved playing bingo and puzzles. A Celebration of Rose's life will begin with a Rosary, Monday, June 22, 2009, 10:30 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass at Gate of Heaven Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Sedillo, Josh Martinez, Edward Sanchez, Richard Lovato, Bob Savage, and Brian Cloud. TALAMANTE -- Guadalupe Jr. Born June 17, 1960 - Died June 14, 2009 Guadalupe Jr., 48 years old, went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2009. Jr. was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Antonia G. Talamante and Guadalupe Talamante. He was the eleventh child out of fourteen. Preceded in death by his parents; brother Gilbert; niece Mercedes Talamante. He is survived by brothers Vernie and wife Christina, Alex Talamante, Michael and wife Marcella, Lorenzo and wife Denisha and Patrick Talamante. Sisters, Edwina Basquez and husband John, Dorothy Sanchez and husband Gene, Mildred Baldonado and husband Johnny, Katie Benavidez and husband Tony, Nancy Ipiotis, Isabel Talamante and Brenda Talamante; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly by all.

GONZALES -- Elsie G. Gonzales, 78, a resident of Albuquerque entered into rest on June 16, 2009. Mrs. Gonzales is survived by her husband, Mr. Florencio Gonzales; three children, Lilly Kutzscher and husband, Richard, Johnny Vigil and Adelina Vigil; two stepchildren, Rudy Gonzales and Mike Gonzales and wife, Janice; three sisters, Frances Vigil, Elma Espinoza and husband, Alfred, and Sylvia Baca and husband, Boni; brother, Cayetano Garcia and wife, Vicky; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Gonzales was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Anita Garcia; brothers, Jake and Manuel Garcia; and sister, Mary Worley. HERN -- Frank Hern, Sr., 79, a resident of Arlington, TX and former resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away June 14, 2009. Mr. Hern is survived by his sons, Frank Hern, Jr., Kenneth L. Hern and wife, Rita, Glenn Hern and wife, Jackie; eight grandchildren, Victoria Tirone, Valerie Naranjo, Jeffery Hern, Bowman Hern, Amanda Hern, Samantha Hern, D'Drianna King and Monique Hern; six great-grandchildren; brother, Oliver Hern, Jr.; five sisters, Theresa Villanueva, Leandra Torres, Mary Hern, Lucille Chavez and Joann Kennedy. Mr. Hern was preceded by his wife Piedad Hern; and brother, Willie Hern. Mr. Hern was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by his granddaughters, Valeria Naranjo and Victoria Tirone. JOHNSON -- John "Johnny" Andrew Johnson, Jr., a native of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ Saturday, June 13, 2009. He is survived by his loving parents, John Andrew, Sr. and Marion Anding Johnson; brother, Harold Anding Johnson; cousins, Vernon Pleasant and wife, Sally, Virginia LaCharite and husband, Raymond, Jeannie Chunn and husband, Bob, and Cyrus C. Johnson III and wife, Kathy; best friend, Jim Davis; and a multitude of caregivers, therapists, aides and friends who so lovingly and graciously touched his life and who in turn were blessed to be included on his nightly and lengthy prayer list. He was preceded in death by sister, Janell Johnson; paternal grandparents, Cyrus Cleveland and Mary Pippin Johnson; maternal grandparents, Claude Ellis and Lucille Bell Anding; and aunts and uncles, Dr. Cyrus C. Johnson II and wife, Jean, Claude Ellis Anding Jr. and wife, Virginia, Harold Bell Anding, Janie Anding Pleasant and husband, Sessions, Nell Anding Pickett and husband, Haley Aubrey. He enjoyed many years of being a part of First Baptist Church of Albuquerque. Johnny so much appreciated his adult day care center, Share Your Care, and looked forward to attending X-Factor Church. A victor over cerebral palsy, he was able to walk with the aid of braces and crutches until confined after a stroke to a wheelchair at the age of twelve, but walks and even soars today on the streets of gold in his Heavenly Father's house. Having savored gospel music in this world, today he delights at the heavenly chorus. Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. N.E.
