CASTILLO-KUHN -- Mary Davis Castillo-Kuhn,age 98, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away quietly at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 22, 2008. She was born in 1910, in Moriarty to the late Jose and Juanita (Martinez) Davis. Mary was the Charter Grand Regent of the Belen Chapter of Catholic Daughters of America. She served her community as City Clerk and Valencia County Clerk in the Assessor offices. She was also preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters; her first husband, Richard C. Castillo, a prominent business man in Belen; her second husband, Larry Kuhn of Denver, CO; her daughter, Gloria Castillo Kadison, a well known film actress and son-in-law, Ellis Kadison, which Mary is survived by Gloria and Ellis two sons, Joshua and David; two sisters, Celina Raff and Anne Walker of Albuquerque, NM; and three sons, Dr. R. Robert Castillo and wife, Ruthella, Leo Castillo and Francis Leonard Castillo and wife, Regina. She is also survived by her 30 loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A visitation and Funeral Mass were held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Interment followed at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. CHACON -- Teresa M. Chacon, 82, born March 23, 1926 and crossed over on September 22, 2008. She left this earth as she came into it, a sweet, innocent child of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Guadalupita Montoya; step-mother, Maggie D. Montoya; sisters, Ruth, Ramona, Stella and Antonia; brothers, Frank and wife Amadita, Benny, Oswaldo Tibby; step-brother, Joe Saiz; and husband late N.M. State Senator Matias L. Chacon; and son Matthew. Teresa is survived by her brother, Eloy Montoya and wife Stella; sister-in-law, Melinda Saiz; sisters-in-law, Stella Kulp and husband Russell, Laura Montoya and partner James; and brother-in-law, George Leichtle; sons, Michael, Donald, Ronald Chacon and wife Monica; and daughter, Bernadette Chacon-Nelson and husband Gary; grandchildren, Chanelle, Michelle, Christina, Rogie and Israel Chacon; two step-grandchildren, Ashley and Isaac Ortiz; and many nieces and nephews. After Catholic School and Santa Fe high school graduation, Teresa attended secretarial school, worked in Los Alamos and Santa Fe, and a few years later met a handsome young law student named, Matias Chacon from Canon Plaza, NM. After law school they married and she, Matias and later his partner, Pete Melendez set up an Espanola law practice with the expertise of Nora Romero, also a legal secretary. Teresa juggled a career, five children, was a Senator's wife and still had time to tend to the life of living on a farm. She loved to sing, dance and play her piano and organ. She was her church organist and choir director at San Jose de Rio Chama Parish in Hernandez for many years. She also belonged to the Sacred Heart Altar Society and the VFW auxiliary. She leaves behind her love of life, family, and special memories. Teresa has been reunited with her creator. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Ronald Chacon, Gary Nelson, Miguel Timoteo Gurule, Jim Myers, Rudy Cordova and Tomas Cordova. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael, Donald, and Israel Chacon and Michael Gomez. CHAVEZ -- Ernest Blas Chavez, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, a life long resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 23, 2008. Mr. Chavez is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lucia A. Chavez; sister, Deluvina Sanchez and husband, Ernest; son, Arthur Chavez and wife, Flora; daughter, Kathy Torres and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Sandra Hendricks, Rosa Hart, Renee Sanchez, Steven Chavez, Elizabeth Reinert, Jonathan Chavez, and Susan Chavez; and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Chavez was preceded in death by his son, Pete Chavez. Mr. Chavez was a member of Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II, he was retired from Kirtland Air Force Base after 25 years of service; and was a volunteer firefighter for ten years. FORBES -- Shirley (Sissy) Anne Bordelon Forbes passed away quietly on Sunday, September 21, 2008 after a brief illness at 75. Born July 9, 1933 in Denver CO, moved with her family to Albuquerque, NM in 1934. As a young child in Albuquerque, Sissy attended St. Vincent Academy, St. Mary School, and graduated from Highland High School, class of 1951. Survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Louis L. Forbes retired Air Force, Senior Master Sergeant originally from Elizabeth City, NC. Their life together began in Albuquerque followed by many tours around the world to places such as Bitburg and Hahn Germany, Karamursel Turkey, Riverside CA, and Phoenix AZ. Sissy was a Junior Catholic Daughter of America, and she helped to establish the first Military Council of Catholic Woman in 1957 in Germany, and was also as a member while she was stationed with her family in Turkey from 1971 - 1974. Preceded in death by her parents Allen Bordelon and Margaret Meehan Bordelon, her daughter, Sharon Louise Forbes, her mother in-law, Mildred James Forbes Sivills and her sister Allene Bordelon. Sissy will be remembered deeply by her son, Bernard A. Forbes and daughter, Felicia Forbes Rider, grandchildren, Christine R. Forbes, Rachel L. Rider, and Jackson F. Rider, daughter-in-law, Laurie J. Forbes and son-in-law, William J. Rider, sisters, Barbara Corson, Cynthia O'Meara, Deidre Bordelon, and Suzanne Bilby, brothers-in-law, John O'Meara and Richard Bilby, John W. Forbes of Currituck, NC; and many nieces and nephews. The Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 9:30 a.m., Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel. GARCIA -- Linda M. Garcia, 75, lifetime resident of New Mexico went home to be with our Heavenly Father, Sunday, September 21, 2008. Linda is predeceased by her husband Blas Garcia, parents; Manuel and Selida Morfin, brothers; Fermin and Jose Morfin and a nephew; David Morfin. She is survived by daughters; Josie Starr and husband Tom, of Broken Arrow, OK, Evelyn Martinez and husband Leandro J., II, of Broomfield, CO, and Julie Anne Garcia and fiance Bobby Harper of Albuquerque, NM, her 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Linda is also survived by her brothers, Thomas Morfin of Cortez, CO, Benito Morfin of Coyote, NM; sisters, Angie Romero of Espanola, NM, Edalia Madrid of Hernandez, NM, Fidilia Gurule of Espanola, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Although Michael was not always in his life and did not get the opportunity to know his wonderful son Jacob, he did make peace with him in the end and he did acknowledge him. May he rest in peace.

GLOMSKI -- Gerald Joseph Glomski, (Jerry), 62, a 23 year resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 from a heart attack and a 23 year bout with heart disease and diabetes. Jerry was born in St Louis, MO on December 3, 1945 to Joseph and Ollie Glomski. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry is survived by his wife, Clarita; his sister, Judith Seidinger and husband, Kurt; his four children and their spouses, Christopher Glomski and wife, Christine, Lisa Hoeft and husband, Justin, Major (select) Joaquin Glomski and wife, Angela, and Joseph Glomski; six grandchildren, Matthew, Taylor, Alexis, John, Emily, and Sophia. Jerry was an incredible and loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and teacher. He was a retired Major in the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam and later in the Federal Government Civil Service. He was a Patriot, Scientist, and overall Renaissance man. Jerry was raised in St. Louis, MO, before earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Southern Illinois University in 1967. He subsequently graduated from the US Air Force Officer Training School in 1968 and received his commission as a 2nd Lt in the US Air Force. He attended Navigator training at Mather AFB in 1968 and shortly after was selected for and attended Electronic Warfare Officer's Training at the same location the following year before he flew with B-52 aircrews in bombing missions over Northern and Southern Vietnam where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and various other distinguished medals. Jerry later attended Operations Research and Systems Analyst School at Fort Lee, VA in 1976. He held positions such as Study Director and Branch Chief at Kirtland AFB, NM from 1979 to 1984 where he met his loving wife, Clarita. Throughout his career he completed various other advanced schools by correspondence to include Squadron Officer's School in 1974, Air Command and Staff College in 1976, and the National Security Management Course in 1983. Jerry was an incredibly brilliant and brave man who always put his family and others first. He will be tremendously missed, but his spirit will live on forever in our hearts and memories and his legacy will forever survive through the lives and deeds of his family. A Rosary for Jerry will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Daniel's Funeral Home, located at 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, 87109. There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the Rosary. Details for the Friday Morning Funeral Mass will be available through Daniel's Funeral Home. GROOMS -- Alan Kent Grooms, 69, passed away, surrounded by his family, peacefully at home in Chino, CA on September 19, 2008. Alan is survived by his wife Gail; daughters Ginny and Rhonda; son Erik, daughter-in-law Angelica; son-in-law Jay; and grandchildren Brandy, Megan, Melissa, Emily, Jay II, and Erik II. Alan, a l957 graduate of Albuquerque High School, moved to California in l973 where he met his wife Gail and together raised their family. In 2005, Alan retired to his vacation home in Bullhead City, AZ where he loved to take his boat to the lake and fish, took pictures of the magnificent sunsets, and played ball with his Maltese dogs, Taffy and Krissy. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Roy Hollingsworth; four daughters, Linda Stephens of Odessa, TX, Roxanne Pittard and husband, Don of Albuquerque, Trenna Tankersley and husband Charles of Williamsburg, VA, and Treva Nance of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Roy Stephens and wife Charla, Carla Steffen and husband Brett, Lynn Knight and husband Chris, Amara Nance, Jake Nance and wife Taylour, and Mark Tankersley and wife Claire; six great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Jo Johnson and husband Leroy of El Dorado, KS; and several other relatives and friends. KELLOGG -- Kimberly Ann Kellogg, M.D. With family and friends at her bedside, Kim passed away peacefully on Friday,September 12, 2008. In her immediate family, she is survived by her mother, Lillian Ann Kellogg of Rio Rancho, NM;, her brother Bobby Kellogg, his wife Amy and their children of Shawnee, KS; and her father Robert T. Kellogg, M.D. of Albuquerque, NM. Kim was born on January 8, 1970 and grew up in Corrales, NM with her many animals and pets that she loved. She graduated from New Mexico State University, and later the University of New Mexico Medical School. Her residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology took place at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Santa Clara, CA. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her for her twinkling eyes, her beautiful smile, and mostly for her kind, generous, giving heart. She was a loving spirit who cared so much for others. Kim has requested that there be no service held in her honor, but rather that those who were a part of her life hold a warm spot in their heart for her, as she has for them. She touched many lives and many have touched hers - for this she was grateful. OLSON -- Robert (Bob) Olson, 85, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2008. PATTERSON -- Christine Tryens Patterson, 57, passed away on September 21, 2008 after a lifelong fight against the effects of rheumatoid arthritis. Chris was born in Wilmington, DE and spent her childhood there. She graduated from Ursuline Academy and Brandywine College. She moved to Albuquerque in 1977. Chris is survived by her son, Daniel Tryens and his wife, Mandy; and her former husband and dear friend, Bill Tryens of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Fitzpatrick, Kathy King, John Szabo, Joanne Corrao and Beth Sheehy and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Steven Patterson; her parents, Stephen and Frances Szabo; her brother, Jerry Szabo; and her nephew, Michael Sheehy. He was born in Clayton, NM on Thursday, January 24, 1928 then later moved to Albuquerque in 1941. Leonard worked at ACF Industries in Albuquerque for 12 years and General Electric for two years, then he opened El Cerro Nursery and Feed in Rio Communities which he ran for 15 years. He retired in 1981 to travel and take care of his beautiful yard. Services will be held Friday, September 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. SOTO -- Mabel Soto, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, September 19, 2008 at the age of 91. Mabel retired from Parkview Baptist Church after 29 years of service. She also worked for St. Anthony's Home for Boys until its closing. Mrs. Soto was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Soto. She is survived by her two brothers, David and Joe Madrid; her four sons, Roland Soto, Oliver and his wife Bea, Ricarte and his wife Susie, Paul and his wife Dolores; one daughter, Louise Padilla and her husband Robert; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. STEGALL -- Emory K. Stegall, 91, a resident of New Mexico for 30 years, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008. Emory was born December 18, 1916 the son of Frederick and Edna M. Ray Stegall in Bullard, TX. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 35 years of service. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, and earned six Bronze Stars. Emory was an avid writer, he would type up letters to express his opinions, and send them to politicians and newspapers. He also loved listening to Ballroom music. Emory was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 2003; his parents, Frederick and Edna Stegall; brother, Edwin Stegall; two sisters, Marguerite Harrell and Nettie D. Clendin; and grandson, Eric W. Martin. He is survived by three children, Jo Marie Payne and husband Willis of Weston, CO, Thomas Stegall of Columbus, OH, and Charlene Armstrong and husband Richard of Merced, CA; a special granddaughter, Brandy Shinnick and eight other grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Ray Stegall and wife Dorris of Austin, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. STRICKLIN -- Paul Mitchell (Mitch) Stricklin, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, September 14, 2008, with his wife and loving mother by his side. Mitch was born in Fairview, NM on January 20, 1961 to Paul L. Stricklin and Evelyn Herrera Martinez. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Stricklin; his step-father Bobby Sosaya; his grandparents, Juan Isidro and Carlotta Herrera; and grandparents, Verbatine and Jack Stricklin. He is survived by his wife, Colleen; his son, Paul; his daughter, Maggy; his mother, Evelyn Martinez; his sister, LaVonne Buchanan and husband, Colin Buchanan; and his sister Robynn Sena and Jonathan Romero. He is also survived by nephews and nieces, Jennifer, Bobby, Christopher, Patrick, Candace, Caley, Jennika, and Chiara. Mitch graduated from J.K. Mullen Preparatory School in Denver, Colorado in 1979. Mitch grew up in Colorado and New Mexico, but settled with his wife and children in Yuba City, CA. Mitch loved to travel, and explored the entire United States, Brazil, Mexico, and Bolivia. He was a true, comedian, outdoorsman and horticulturist but was most proud of his two children. Mitch provided generous guidance and parental influence to many lost troubled youth. Mitch donated his body to the LifeLegacy Foundation for purposes of medical research. WHALEN -- William Murray (Bill) Whalen, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Whalen of Albuquerque; four children, Nancy Whalen, Tom and Rita Whalen, Bill and Missy Whalen, all of Albuquerque, and Patty and Ken Morris of Plano, TX. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Muriel Whalen of Butte, MT. An Albuquerque resident since 1959, Bill was born in Seattle, WA and was raised in Butte. Following service in the United States Army during World War II, he earned a degree from St. Thomas College in St. Paul, MN in Accounting and Business Administration. He began his career working with the National Cash Register Company in Butte, Seattle and Las Vegas, NV. He was subsequently employed by Sandia National Laboratories, retiring after twenty years in 1982, enjoying 28 years of happy and productive retirement. Bill was a member of Our Lady of Annunciation Church for 17 years, and Church of the Risen Savior for over 30 years. Much of his time was spent volunteering with various charitable organizations including Civitan, Catholic Charities, the Women's Coalition, the Assistance League, Act On Society, and Right to Life. He and Jean have enjoyed traveling and membership in the Thunderbirds and Siglo de Oro RV Clubs, and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his amazing energy, sharp mind, optimism, keen sense of humor, willingness to help anyone in need, and generosity of his time and talent.
