Leonard Edward Pettis, 80, a resident of Los Lunas for 58 years since 1949, died Sunday, September 21, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois Bradshaw Pettis; children, Carl Pettis and wife, Melanie of Springtown, Texas, Kathy Stevenson of Belen, NM, Darrell and wife, Evelyn of Magdalena, NM; grandchildren, Glenn and James Pettis, Jacqueline Chavez, Dwayne Herrell, Montana and Lexy Pettis, JoDawn Green, Keith Lowe, Amber Benavidez; great-grandchildren, Garret, Courtney, Chance and Chelsi Pettis, Megan, Abigail, Emily Miera, Haelli Chavez, Cody, Jerome, Alexis and two more on the way; brother, James Pettis and wife, Nancy of Los Lunas; sister, Lorene Roberts of Manteca, CA. Leonard was preceded in death by son, Alan Ray Pettis; parents, Leonard Harrison and Minnie Belle; sisters, June Pettis, Esther LaMunyon and Mavis Dean. He was born in Clayton, NM on Thursday, January 24, 1928 then later moved to Albuquerque in 1941. Leonard worked at ACF Industries in Albuquerque for 12 years and General Electric for two years, then he opened El Cerro Nursery and Feed in Rio Communities which he ran for 15 years. He retired in 1981 to travel and take care of his beautiful yard. Services will be held Friday, September 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Glenn, James, Chance, Garret, Montana Pettis, and Dwayne Herrell.
