ADAMS -- Lois Ardell Adams of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the age of 87. She was born in Cleveland, OH on Monday, March 14, 1921 to Thomas and Adeline McGraw. In 1957, Lois moved with her children to Albuquerque, NM from Cleveland, OH in order to have a better life and be closer to her family. She began working in 1959 at the Sandia Base commissary and then worked with DASA doing security clearances. At the age of 55, Lois attended Albuquerque TVI in order to obtain her GED High School diploma. We all were so proud of her! Lois retired from Civil Service in 1984 after 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers; and one sister-in-law. Lois is survived by son, Robert J. Adams and wife, Clarice of Oklahoma City, OK; daughters, Donna L. Kortlever of Bellingham, WA and Patt A. Quirici of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; great- niece, Theresa and husband Green, and two children; great-nephew, Terence and wife, Lydia, and two children, and so many cousins and loving friends. Lois enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling, spending time with her family and many friends. She spent a great deal of her retirement time volunteering with the Office of Senior Affairs, working hard at many of the various senior centers such as Palo Duro, Bear Canyon, Highland, Barelas and Los Volcanas. She drove seniors to different events over the last few decades. Lois was affiliated with the Solo Club and collated their newsletter for many years as well as being on several bowling leagues. Lois was a member of the Amigos and ACLOA. Music Theaters Southwest was a major part of her life over the past ten years, where she donated her time and loved being involved in any aspect where she could be of help. She managed their concession stand and monitored the back door, where they nicknamed her "Sarge". Lois had a smile for everyone. Was well loved. She touched so many lives and will be missed greatly. The family wishes to sincerely thank Bernadette, Corina and Dawn and all the staff members of Presbyterian Hospice and Princeton Place for the loving care they provided Lois during her final days. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life is scheduled for Monday, September 15, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Private interment will take place later. ALEXANDERSON -- Mary G. Alexanderson, 72, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was born December 12, 1935 in Cuchillo, NM to Felix and Josefita Sanchez. She moved to Albuquerque in 1957 and married Elwood Alexanderson in 1959 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Elwood; their two children Ellen and husband Scott Wilson and Russell and wife Pam Alexanderson; four grandchildren Taryn and Lari Wilson, Trey and Wes Alexanderson; and sister Hermila Romero. Mary was a Histology Technician at Bernalillo County Indian Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital and UNM Hospital for 22 years. Visitation will be Sunday, September 14, 2008, 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. GOEBEL -- William Goebel "Bill", was born July 15, 1930 in Wexford, MI. He passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 in Rio Rancho, at age 78. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Goebel. GUTHRIE -- Cozette Guthrie, age 94, a resident of Albuquerque, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at a local hospital. She was born on November 29, 1913 in Prague, OK, the daughter of Elva and Florence Irick. She was a member of New Covenant Church for many years. She was an elementary school teacher, retiring after 30 years of service at Yucca Elementary School. Cozette had received the distinguished award of being named Teacher of the Year during her tenure. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Hopson and her husband, John of Albuquerque; her grandson, Daniel Reyes of Holland, MI; her sister, Doris Jackson of Laguna Hills, CA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, David Reyes on October 25, 1998. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 15, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. HENINGTON -- Charles Graham Henington, a long-time resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2008. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Belen, serving as a deacon and church treasurer. Graham retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1977 after 40 years of outstanding service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Florence Henington, in 1990; son, Rex in 2007, sister, Marie Scheschuk and brothers, Harry Hennington and John Love. Graham is survived by his wife, Edna Ray Henington; three sons, Mack Henington of Albuquerque, NM, Scott Henington and wife, Janette of Littleton, CO, and Bruce Henington and wife, Vicki of Denton, TX; daughter-in-law, Sue Hennington of Los Lunas, NM; brother, Jack Love and wife, Muriel of Albuquerque and sister-in-law, Eleanor Love of Los Lunas. He is also survived by ten loving grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. HOLCOMB -- Tillie Holcomb, 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 11, 2008. She is survived by her children, Leroy Andrade and wife Mary, of Greely, CO, Fred Holcomb and wife, Dolores, Vince Holcomb and wife, Linda, Louie Holcomb and wife Rita, Patricia Griego and husband, Juan all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Michael, Carole, Sharon, Cynthia, David, Becky, Kenny, Nicole, Denise, and Eraina; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Phil Andrade and wife Annie of Pueblo, CO and Bernie Andrade and wife Cora of Freemont, CA. Mrs. Holcomb was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Ben Holcomb; and son, Lawrence Holcomb. Tillie was a longtime member of Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church. JORDAN -- Robert Louis Jordan was born in Leota, KS on November 14, 1922. The depression left his family poor. But the father of a close friend helped Robert go to Kansas State University. Robert went on to medical school at Wayne State University with the support of the Navy, and then completed his internship at Baylor University in Dallas. When his medical training was complete, Robert was called back to service in California during the Korean War. Robert and his family settled in the Los Angeles area where he trained at the Southern California Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. During this training, Robert supported his family by working nights making house-calls across the Los Angeles area. Upon completion of his Psychoanalytic training, Robert began a successful private practice as a psychiatrist. In the 1960s, Robert became interested in alternative approaches to mental and physical health care, which remained his passion until the end of his life. Robert was also a spiritual seeker, exploring Eastern religions and metaphysical teachings throughout the 1960s and 70s until finding a home in Evangelical Christianity in the last years of his life. In the 1980s, Robert entered a new phase of his career, working in hospital psychiatry in his new home of Albuquerque, NM where he found great success for many years. Robert moved to Montana for a few years but later returned to the Albuquerque area, settling in Belen, NM. Robert passed away in his sleep on July 20, 2008. He was 85 years old. He is survived by four children, two step-children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. As a boy, Robert was an Eagle Scout, and in his adult years Robert served as a troop leader. MARKO -- Shirlee Marko, of Albuquerque, was born June 8, 1927, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, where she was raised. She died peacefully on September 8, 2008. Shirl came to Socorro, NM in 1957, and to Albuquerque in 1963. She had three children, Kate, David, and Jane. She is survived by daughters, Kate Nanlohy and Jane Gagne and son-in-law Norm Gagne, all of Albuquerque; grandson Kaben Nanlohy; sister Norma Pilling and her husband, Gaelynd; brother Jack Kearl and his wife, Donna; brother Wayne Kearl; and many dear nieces and nephews and friends. The last decades of Shirl's life were the best. She spent 13 happy years with her husband Charlie Marko, a sweet and good man who loved her deeply and charmed her life. She was a Life Master in bridge and she traveled the world. She had good, caring friends, and she loved her family to her soul. In January 2008, she learned that she had terminal cancer. She had no fear, and spent her last months in complete dignity and grace, with a remarkable sense of humor and a glowing, beautiful smile to the end. Over the months, family and friends came from all over to say good-bye; we all laughed and hugged and talked, and cried some too. NEUBERT -- Flora Neubert, age 87, a resident of Valencia County for many years, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008. Flora was an independent and adventurous woman. She graduated nursing school at age 52. She worked at the University of New Mexico Hospital in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit for several years, before working as a nurse in Saudi Arabia. Flora traveled the world, and at age 60 became a certified scuba driver. Upon returning to Valencia County, she continued her nursing career caring for infants and young children. For the past several years she lived at El Morro. Flora was a strong woman and an excellent role model for family and friends. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Neubert. Flora is survived by three daughters, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. SAIZ -- Julian Saiz, 81, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was reunited with the Lord on September 11, 2008. Julian worked for Sandia Base for 28 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 69, the DAV, the VFW, as well as the North Valley Senior Center and the Alameda Society. Julian is survived by his wife, Vijes Saiz; son, Ben Saiz; daughter, Juliet Marquez and husband, Frank; brothers, Gilbert Saiz and wife, Mercedes, and Arthur Saiz and wife, Elsie; sisters, Cecilia Garcia, Rose Parknaven, and Lilian Dimas; grandchildren, Jon-Paul Marquez, Anthony Marquez and wife, Skye, and Andrew Marquez; and great-grandchildren, Joseph, Angel, Julian, Joshua and Francisco Marquez. SANDOVAL -- Anthony R. Sandoval, age 58, beloved son, father, grandfather, and brother, was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 11, 2008, while surrounded by his loving family. Anthony was a life long resident of Albuquerque. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, who served his country during the Vietnam War. Anthony enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Sandoval. Anthony is survived by his mother, Victoria Sandoval; brothers, James, Leo, and Jacob Sandoval; sisters, Connie Sandoval, Helen Hunt, and Pauline Sanchez; his children, Demitria Sandoval, Melanie Sandoval, Manuel Rodriguez, Anthony Sandoval, Jr., and Ashley Sandoval; five grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Anthony will be greatly missed by all. SCHULTZ -- Raymond H. Schultz died Monday, September 8, 2008 in Grand Junction, CO at age 89. He was born August 14, 1919, to Herman and Clara Schultz and was one of three children. Ray attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Manhattan Project Corp of Engineers in Los Alamos, NM. Ray worked for 38 years for Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque; during this time, 19 years was spent as manager of their Quality Assurance Weapons Evaluation Program. Ray loved playing golf, gardening, dancing, decorating the house with Christmas lights, and traveling. As a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, Ray taught Bible classes, sang in the choir, and was a member of the church council. He also volunteered to drive cancer patients to their treatments. While attending Illinois Institute of Technology, Ray met and married his wife of 55 years, Violet (Vi) Noftz who passed away in 2001. Ray is survived by his brother, Ron Schultz and his wife Joan of Illinois. He is also survived by his three children, Don Schultz and his wife Shirley of Longmont, CO, Sherry Schultz of Albuquerque, and Steve Schultz and his wife Debbie of Grand Junction, CO. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Jessica Chelf and her husband Cory and their children Kaelyn, Rebecca and Nathan, Sean Curry and his wife Heidi and their daughter Julia, Daniel Schultz and his wife Sarah, Shannon Kendall and her husband Ryan and their son Aidan, Matt Schultz and his wife Crystal, Chris Schultz, and Katie Schultz. His Life will be Celebrated in a Private Ceremony on Saturday morning, September 13, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque. SIPP -- Grant C. Sipp, a resident of Albuquerque for 39 years, died on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the age of 83. Mr. Sipp was a friendly and lively person who enjoyed the company of friends.
