Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Saturday September 13, 2008

Robert Louis Jordan was born in Leota, KS on November 14, 1922. The depression left his family poor. But the father of a close friend helped Robert go to Kansas State University. Robert went on to medical school at Wayne State University with the support of the Navy, and then completed his internship at Baylor University in Dallas. When his medical training was complete, Robert was called back to service in California during the Korean War. Robert and his family settled in the Los Angeles area where he trained at the Southern California Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. During this training, Robert supported his family by working nights making house-calls across the Los Angeles area. Upon completion of his Psychoanalytic training, Robert began a successful private practice as a psychiatrist. In the 1960s, Robert became interested in alternative approaches to mental and physical health care, which remained his passion until the end of his life. Robert was also a spiritual seeker, exploring Eastern religions and metaphysical teachings throughout the 1960s and 70s until finding a home in Evangelical Christianity in the last years of his life. In the 1980s, Robert entered a new phase of his career, working in hospital psychiatry in his new home of Albuquerque, NM where he found great success for many years. Robert moved to Montana for a few years but later returned to the Albuquerque area, settling in Belen, NM. Robert passed away in his sleep on July 20, 2008. He was 85 years old.
