SCHULTZ -- Raymond H. Schultz died Monday, September 8, 2008 in Grand Junction, CO at age 89. He was born August 14, 1919, to Herman and Clara Schultz and was one of three children. Ray attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Manhattan Project Corp of Engineers in Los Alamos, NM. Ray worked for 38 years for Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque; during this time, 19 years was spent as manager of their Quality Assurance Weapons Evaluation Program. Ray loved playing golf, gardening, dancing, decorating the house with Christmas lights, and traveling. As a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, Ray taught Bible classes, sang in the choir, and was a member of the church council. He also volunteered to drive cancer patients to their treatments. While attending Illinois Institute of Technology, Ray met and married his wife of 55 years, Violet (Vi) Noftz who passed away in 2001. Ray is survived by his brother, Ron Schultz and his wife Joan of Illinois. He is also survived by his three children, Don Schultz and his wife Shirley of Longmont, CO, Sherry Schultz of Albuquerque, and Steve Schultz and his wife Debbie of Grand Junction, CO. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Jessica Chelf and her husband Cory and their children Kaelyn, Rebecca and Nathan, Sean Curry and his wife Heidi and their daughter Julia, Daniel Schultz and his wife Sarah, Shannon Kendall and her husband Ryan and their son Aidan, Matt Schultz and his wife Crystal, Chris Schultz, and Katie Schultz. His Life will be Celebrated in a Private Ceremony on Saturday morning, September 13, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.
