ARNOT -- Rev. James L. On March 9, 2008, Rev. James L. Arnot (Jim) entered into the presence of the Lord he served for over 40 years as a Minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Jim was born in Albuquerque, NM in 1940. He graduated from Highland High School, the University of New Mexico and San Francisco Theological Seminary. Jim faithfully served churches in Nebraska, Minnesota, Florida and Ohio. Music was his life-long passion and became an important part of his ministry as he would always participate in the choirs of the churches where he served. New church development and re-development was very important to Jim and later in his career he helped lay the groundwork for the New Albany Presbyterian Church (New Albany, OH) where he has worshipped since his retirement. Rev. Arnot is preceded in death by his father, Robert Arnot and his mother, Alice Arnot. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 43 years, Nancy, and his sons Michael of Newport Beach, CA and Mark of London, UK, his brother Robert Eugene (Dona) of Albuquerque, his sister Margaret (Paul) Cunningham of Albuquerque, nieces: DeeDee (Pete) Butterfield, Debra Arnot (Scott Hammond), Alicia Cunningham, nephew, Nathan Cunningham, of Albuquerque and grandnieces of Albuquerque. A Memorial Service was held on March 15, 2008 at Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church in Columbus, OH with Rev. David Milroy officiating. An Albuquerque Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rev. BACA -- Henry "Hank" Baca Dear Family and Friends; Our beloved Henry "Hank" went home five years ago. In his memory, we keep him in our thoughts and prayers. BACHMAN -- Bernice Marie Bachman, 87, a 13 year resident of Albuquerque, passed away on April 29, 2008. She was a previous resident of Phoenix, AZ, having lived there for over 50 years. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star and had worked with Rainbow Girls. She is survived by four children, Howard Bachman Jr., of Phoenix, Linda Mitchell and her husband Bill of Oregon, Gary Bachman and his wife Pam of Albuquerque, and Carol Clauser and her husband Mark of Albuquerque; also surviving are her grandchildren, Shaunn, June, Andrea, Diane, and Jordan. She is also survived by her sister, Cleo Connor of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Cremation has taken place and a private Memorial Service will be held by the family. BATES -- Jack H. Bates, Jr. (Casey), 54, departed this life on April 24, 2008, at his home in West Plains, MO. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer prior to leaving us. Born in Albuquerque August 13, 1953, to the late Jack H. and Peggy Bates, he was a 1971 graduate of Valley High and an honorably discharged veteran of the USAF. Casey is survived by his longtime companion, Glenda Carr, of West Plains, MO; sister Julianne B. Knutson, her husband, Paul; and children, Kohl and Kassidy, of Orchard, CO: his sister, Jennifer B. Averill and her husband, William Allen Averill, of Corrales; and many good friends in NM and MO. Although sometimes a troubled wanderer, he was an artist with his music, woodwork, house renovations, painting, and beautiful housekeeping. We will miss him and send him love on the next journey; Life means all that it ever meant. I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past. Nothing has been lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before-only better. Infinitely happier. We will be one, together forever (Kevin Healy).

BEBBER -- Ruth E. Bebber. PhD, 87, of Albuquerque, NM, and Ashland, OR, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Alzheimer's Care Facility at the Cottages of Albuquerque. Ruth was born in Albuquerque, NM, in 1921. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1938 and received her bachelor's degree in Social Studies from the University of New Mexico in 1942. During World War II, Ruth was the only woman in a squadron of aviation mechanics in Gainesville, Georgia. In the evenings, she played trombone in the Navy Band.After the war, she earned a Master's Degree and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Health and Education in 1956 at University of Southern California. Dr. Bebber taught in the Albuquerque and San Bernardino, California, Public School systems as a physical education instructor. She joined the faculty at Southern Oregon College (now University) in 1954 and was head of the physical education department when she retired in 1986. She was the first exchange teacher from SOU to Dankook University in Seoul, South Korea. There she taught American Folk Dance and helped bring American culture to many South Koreans. At Southern Oregon University, Dr. Bebber was considered a Master teacher and was responsible for hundreds of student teachers who learned to love their chosen profession as she did.She was passionate about swimming and was the coach for the womens' swim team at Southern Oregon University for many years. She also taught swimming for the American Red Cross, the Youth Aquatic School and Elderhostel for decades.She was the president of many organizations, including, the UNM chapter of Alpha Chi Omega from 1941 to 1942; the SOU chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, the Jackson County Chapter of the American Association of University Women, and the state president of the Oregon Chapter of Business and Professional Women. She enjoyed music, gardening, and dance. She traveled extensively throughout the world: touring, dancing, hiking and backpacking. She was an extraordinary cook and donated over 2500 cookbooks to the Culinary Arts department at Central New Mexico Community College. She was a member of our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland Oregon. Dr. Bebber was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Chester Bebber and Henrietta Weiser Bebber, and her brothers, Chester F. Bebber of Denver, Colorado, and William T. Bebber of Chico, California. She is survived by her sisters, Henrietta Bebber Loy and Marilyn Bebber Sheppard, of Albuquerque, and by Delores Weimer Bebber, of Denver, and by Jacqueline Woods Bebber, of Chico, California; and by her many nieces and nephews, and their children; and by her beloved dog, Babe. A Mass of Celebration will be held on Tuesday, May 6, at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE. Call Laura Dennison, her niece, for more information, 505-417-6616. BILLUPS -- Floree (Johnson) Billups was born in Chester, South Carolina on the 18th of May, 1934. She passed on April 28, 2008. She accepted Christ at an early age; her dedicated devotion to God was a constant console and support throughout her life. She was the mother of five sons, Harold, Derrick, Jerome, Aundra, and Sebastian. She devoted her love and support to her husband, sons, and daughters-in-law, grand and great grandchildren. She taught trust in the Lord, integrity, self respect, responsibility, the importance of family, and respect of others. Mrs. Billups was mother of Abundant Life Community Church; she was an inspiration and an example of God's special role for everyone. She truly walked in the light of the Lord. Floree Billups accompanied her husband, the late Rev. James F. Billups, on military assignment to Bangkok, Thailand. While in Bangkok, Mrs. Billups served her country as an American Red Cross Volunteer at the Military Hospital located in Bangkok. Mrs. Billups also taught English to Thai personnel working with the Department of Defense and civilian American companies based there. She emphasized throughout her life love and fellowship of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and for her family to have a relationship with God. Floree Billups is survived by four sons, Derrick, of Albuquerque, NM, Jerome of Fargo, ND, Aundra of Marietta, GA, and Sebastian of Tucson, AZ; her daughters-in-law, Michele, Tracy, and Joycelyn; her sister, Martha; 11 grandchildren, Nathaniel, Danielle, Aaron, Benjamin, Christina, Kelsea, Tanisha, Matthew, Jarel, Kadeem and Alani; five great-grandchildren, Adrian, Jalen, Kanye, Amari, Kassidi; a host of nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends. Her husband, Rev. James F. Billups, and her son, Harold W. Billups, precede Floree Billups in death. The Viewing and Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW. Following the Funeral Service, Mrs. Billups will be laid to rest next to her husband, James, at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. The Reverend Clarence Washington will preside over all of Mrs. Billups' Services. Pallbearers will be Derrick Billups, Jerome Billups, Aundra Billups, Nate Billups, Matthew Billups, Talib Abdul Hakeem. BRYSON -- Robert Martin Bryson, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 28, 2008. He was born in Xenia, Ohio, and moved to Albuquerque in 1944. Bob, as he was known to all, traveled the southwest as a manufacturer's representative. He enjoyed singing in his church choir and teaching Sunday school. He was also a longtime member of The Gideons International. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Florence Bryson; his wife of 64 years, Ruth Bryson; son, Martin Bryson; brother, H. Edwin Bryson, and sister, Helen Brantley. Bob is survived by his daughters, Carole Mericle and husband Daniel, and Rita Austin and husband Weldon; grandchildren, Daniel Mericle Jr., James Mericle, Michael Austin, Melissa Haro and Matthew Austin; sisters, Mary Anne Neff and Betty Martel; other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Private Services have already been held. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park. BULLARD -- Norma E. "Judy" Bullard, 83, a resident of Albuquerque for 18 years, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edwin R. Bullard, Jr.; son, Edwin R. Bullard III and wife, Kathy of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Katie; brother, Herb Holford; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Judy was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. She was born in Peoria, IL on March 27, 1925 to Herbert and Cecile Holford. On a trip with a friend to Oregon, she met Ed Bullard and they were married in Albuquerque, NM in March of 1945. Judy and Ed moved to Midland, TX where Judy worked as an office manager in the oil industry for over 10 years. They lived in El Paso for almost 30 years before moving to Albuquerque in 1990. She was a very strong and determined person, always able to handle what came along. Judy had a passion for gardening and was a very giving person, continually wanting to help those in need. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientists in Albuquerque. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will take place at Carestone Assisted Living, 7101 Eubank NE, Monday, May 5, 2008, 1:30 p.m. Interment of Judy's cremated remains will take place at a later date in El Paso, TX. BURNS -- Scott R. "Scotty" Burns age, 43, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Vanderbilt Medical Ctr. in Nashville. Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at St. Michaels Episcopal Cemetery in Faunsdale, AL with Rev. George McKee officiating and Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing Services. Survivors include his loving wife of five years, Meredith Sherling Burns, of Nashville, TN; his father, Don Burns, of Albuquerque, N.M.; his mother, Susan Long Burns, of Farmington, N.M; one sister, Cindy Matlock, of Farmington, N.M; one niece, Sarah Matlock; and one nephew, Chris Matlock. Scotty was born in Albuquerque, N.M. and has resided in Nashville for five years where he played the fiddle with many Nashville Country Stars. He was a member of Wentworth Baptist Church in Nashville.
