BILLUPS -- Floree (Johnson) Billups was born in Chester, South Carolina on the 18th of May, 1934. She passed on April 28, 2008. She accepted Christ at an early age; her dedicated devotion to God was a constant console and support throughout her life. She was the mother of five sons, Harold, Derrick, Jerome, Aundra, and Sebastian. She devoted her love and support to her husband, sons, and daughters-in-law, grand and great grandchildren. She taught trust in the Lord, integrity, self respect, responsibility, the importance of family, and respect of others. Mrs. Billups was mother of Abundant Life Community Church; she was an inspiration and an example of God's special role for everyone. She truly walked in the light of the Lord. Floree Billups accompanied her husband, the late Rev. James F. Billups, on military assignment to Bangkok, Thailand. While in Bangkok, Mrs. Billups served her country as an American Red Cross Volunteer at the Military Hospital located in Bangkok. Mrs. Billups also taught English to Thai personnel working with the Department of Defense and civilian American companies based there. She emphasized throughout her life love and fellowship of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and for her family to have a relationship with God. Floree Billups is survived by four sons, Derrick, of Albuquerque, NM, Jerome of Fargo, ND, Aundra of Marietta, GA, and Sebastian of Tucson, AZ; her daughters-in-law, Michele, Tracy, and Joycelyn; her sister, Martha; 11 grandchildren, Nathaniel, Danielle, Aaron, Benjamin, Christina, Kelsea, Tanisha, Matthew, Jarel, Kadeem and Alani; five great-grandchildren, Adrian, Jalen, Kanye, Amari, Kassidi; a host of nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends. Her husband, Rev. James F. Billups, and her son, Harold W. Billups, precede Floree Billups in death. The Viewing and Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW. Following the Funeral Service, Mrs. Billups will be laid to rest next to her husband, James, at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. The Reverend Clarence Washington will preside over all of Mrs. Billups' Services. Pallbearers will be Derrick Billups, Jerome Billups, Aundra Billups, Nate Billups, Matthew Billups, Talib Abdul Hakeem. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sebastian Billups, Kadeem Billups, Jalen Williams, Donald Washington, Louis Moseley, and Alvin Carrington.
