NORDSTROM -- Thomas MacRea Nordstrom, 57, of Placitas passed away peacefully at home amongst his loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife and childhood sweetheart, Hattie Spears; his son, Chaim Nordstrom and wife, Michelle of Albuquerque; his daughter, Naomi Nordstrom of Denver, CO.; his step-daughter, Jody Brown, step-son, Russell Turner, step-son, Nathan Grano; his grandchildren, Josefita and Nathaniel. He is also survived by his mother, Claire Nordstrom of Macintosh, NM.; his brother, Joel Goldstein and wife, Megan Branman; his sister, Aviva and husband, Douglas Brooks; his sister, Laura Castro, brother Dan, sister, Annie Maxson; his nephews and a niece; and oodles of loving family and friends. Cremation has taken place at Direct Funeral Services. There will be a Memorial Service at Placitas Presbyterian Church on Saturday the 31st of May at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in his memory.

PROETT -- William W. Proett, long-time educator at Albuquerque Academy, passed away in Denver, CO on May 21, 2008. He was the son of Herman and Mildred Proett and was born on February 27, 1930 in Ong, NE. He began his teaching career in Eldora, IA and then taught at Lake Forest Academy, Lake Forest, IL for eight years. He and his family moved to Albuquerque (and later to Placitas) in 1969 where he taught chemistry for 22 years. He also helped coach football for many years at the Academy. He retired from teaching in 1991. Bill was skilled in woodworking and in retirement was active with Habitat for Humanity. Bill and his wife Jo moved to the Denver area in 2007 to be near their son Michael, his wife, Noriko, and their two children, Zoe and Theo. Bill is also survived by his sister, Delaine Halberg, of Hudson, WI. A memorial service was held in Centennial, CO on May 28, 2008. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity, 204 San Mateo SE, Suite E, Albuquerque, NM 87108.

RUSSELL -- Matthew Stephen Russell, 37 of Albuquerque, New Mexico died on May 28, 2008 at home. He was born September 23, 1970 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Matt graduated from Illini Central High School and received his undergraduate and graduate degree in Forestry from the University of Illinois (Go Illini!). He worked for the City of Albuquerque as their urban forester. He is survived by his wife, Susan Kroger; his parents, Stephanie and David Russell; grandmother, Carmen Russell; in-laws, Al and Barbara Kroger; sister, Pam and her husband, Scott Kunkel; nephews, David and Jack Kunkel; aunts, and uncles, Walt and Jessie Wright, David Wright, Howard and Judy Wright and Betty Cothran. There will be a celebration of his life held at Weldon Springs Park in Clinton, Illinois on Sunday June 1, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Matt believed that planting trees and taking care of our environment made the world a better place and this is what he did one tree at a time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks loved ones to plant a tree in remembrance of Matt or make a donation in his name to the Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, NE 68410. SMITH -- Herbert A. Smith passed away at the age of 83 at his home in Albuquerque on May 24, 2008, with his wife by his side. Mr. Smith was born Jan. 1, 1925 in Milan, Mo. He was a WWII veteran and had a Master's degree in Education, which he utilized as teacher and administrator until his retirement in 1971. He then went on to own several business in the Alb. area. His varied interests included automobiles, philosophy, art and billiards. He was an accomplished gunsmith and won several world and state championships in shooting competitions. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughter, Suzan; sons, Mike and Rick; daughter-in-law, Jeannette; grandchildren, K.C., Hannah, Tyrus and great-granddaughter, Naomi Rose. There will be a private service in Milan, Missouri. The family has set up a memorial fund in Mr. Smith's name at the American Lung Association.

SULTEMEIER -- Ernest "Red" Sultemeier, 88, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Ernest was born in Corona, NM on February 25, 1920 to Frank and Dulcie Sultemeier. Red is survived by his wife of 53 years, Allene; two sons, Allen and wife, Kristin of Capitan, Mark and wife, Barbara of Corona; son-in-law, Bunk Mullins and wife, Laurie of Las Cruces; grandchildren, Dulcie of Corona, Dustin, Keith and Wade of Capitan and Byron and Kyle of Las Cruces. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frankie and Clintie and his daughter, Lois Ann Mullins. He served his country in the United States Army as a Tech Sgt. and was a ball turret gunner and sustained a serious head wound on one of the missions he flew. Ernest served one tour and was three missions short of being discharged when he was wounded. He received the Purple Heart and the air medal with three oak leaf clusters. After recovering he returned to the ranch he loved in Corona and remained active there until he moved to Albuquerque for health reasons. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2008, 11:00 a.m., at the Corona Public School Auditorium in Corona, NM. TRAIN-CRANMORE -- Paula Jean Train-Cranmore, born November 25, 1956 in Honolulu, Hawaii, beloved daughter, sister and mother, passed away on Sunday May 25, 2008 following a long illness. Paula was preceded in death by her father, Walter T. Train. She is survived by her mother, Daisy M. Train; her sons, Jeffrey Cranmore and wife, Monique, John Cranmore and Joshua Cannon. Grandchildren, Dominic, Alexis and Angelique. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Train and husband, Joseph Bernardini of Canton, Mass.; nephew, Alexander and niece, Ashley; and sister, Sandra Train of Albuquerque, NM and nephew, Kristopher Kemper; brother, John Train and wife, Angela of Loveland, Co., nephew Stephen, nieces, Crystal, Angela and Mercedes.
