BAGGETTE -- Letha M. Baggette, 80, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Kile and husband, Richard of Albuquerque; son, Larry Baggette of Granbury, TX; granddaughters, Kelly Baggette of Ft. Collins, CO and Jill; grandsons, Bradley Kile and wife Sarahlynn of Los Angeles, CA and Christopher Kile of Albuquerque; sisters, Catherine Mosley, Sally Drinkard and husband, Everett and Ann Ray all of Bay Minette, AL; brother, Pete Thompson and wife, Ann of Enterprise, AL; in-laws, James E. Baggette, November 7, 2003; brothers, Mac and Bobby; and sister, Boots. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and talking with her good friends. BEACH -- Damon Beach, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004. He is survived by his brother, Jim Beach and wife, Wanda, of Tulsa, OK sister, Betty Jo Moore and husband, Roger, of Columbus, OH and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Langston Beach; brothers, Dr. Vincent W. Beach of Boulder, CO and Vernon H. Beach of Greenwood, AR. Mr. Beach served in the US Navy in WWII as a Communications Officer on an LST during several campaigns in the Pacific. He attained the rank of Lt. Junior Grade. Mr. Beach worked for McMillian Publishing Company for 34 years, first in Arkansas and then New Mexico and Texas schools. Services are being arranged by Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. BORLAND -- Carolyn (Davis) Borland died November 17, 2004 at Los Palomas Nursing Home in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Iola, KS on June 27, 1916. An Albuquerque resident for the past several years, she was formerly a bank teller in Chillicothe, OH and retired as Administrative Assistant in the Department of Correction for the State of Ohio in Columbus, OH. Mrs. Borland was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Wilbert Borland; her mother, Lucille Davis; and brother, Robert Davis, Chillicothe and Columbus, OH. She is survived by her sister, Maxine Campbell; and niece, Carolyn Martin, Albuquerque, NM; nephews: Michael Campbell, Houston, TX, Stephen Campbell, Lancaster, OH, Richard Davis, Aurora, CO, and Larry Davis, Columbus, OH. Cremation was by Sunrise Funeral Options, Albuquerque, NM, with Graveside services and burial in the Gahanna, OH Cemetery at a later date.

ENRIGHT -- Twyla Enright RN was born on November 26, 1916 in Baxter Springs, KS. As a child, she lived in Sioux Falls, SD with her adopted Norwegian family members. A single mother raised her and her sister on a farm, during the depression. Later she attended Baxter Springs Kansas High School where she excelled academically, played on the girls' basketball team and was a cheerleader during half time. In 1938 she graduated nurse's training in Kansas City, MO under the Sisters of Charity. She married Earl Enright of Joplin, MO and they, after WWII, with their three young children moved to San Juan, NM where Ms. Enright provided volunteer healthcare for residents of rural Northern New Mexico. It is said that she provided home healthcare for Georgia O'Keeffe. Twyla and her family moved to Albuquerque where Ms. Enright nursed at the old St. Joseph Hospital and then the Veterans Hospital Operating Room where she participated in the first open heart surgical procedure in New Mexico. After twenty-five years in the OR, she retired to her beloved Albuquerque home of many years, where she continued to volunteer healthcare services. Ms. Enright also loved music and, as a child, taught herself to play the piano and the violin. She was a time-honored supporter of the Arts in New Mexico. She also loved worldwide travel wherein she traveled to China, South American, Europe, Middle East, and Canada. She and her husband loved the mountains of New Mexico where they built their own cabin, in the wilderness, at the foot of the Brazos Cliffs in Tierra Amarilla, NM. As a child, Ms. Enright made clothes for she and her sister from recycled flour bags. She subsequently became an accomplished seamstress and dress designer. During her last years, she participated in Home Healthcare Reform under the auspices of her time honored home healthcare provider, Ms. Katherine Mann. Her husband, Earl, and sister Eula Marie, preceded Ms. Enright in death. Three children survive Ms. Enright: Nancy Reynolds of Dallas, TX, Patrick Enright of Santa Ana, CA and Michael Enright of Albuquerque, NM. Mrs. Enright enjoyed seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. She would also wish to acknowledge the services of longtime friend and neighbor, Kathy Esquerra. GEISLER -- Herbert D. Geisler, 78, a resident of Albuquerque from 1963 to 1994, passed away in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas on Tuesday, November 16, 2004. He was born on April 8, 1926 in La Port, Indiana. While living in Albuquerque, he was the owner and operator of Alaskan Air Conditioning and Heating and Alaskan Service. He also served as a supervisor in the new construction division of Albuquerque Public Schools from 1974 to 1992. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Geisler. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Dishuck, her husband, Steve, his stepson, Jim Johansen and wife, Carol, his stepdaughter, Barbara Galusha, his grandchildren, Brian Dishuck, Pamela Dishuck, Rachel Johansen, Christopher Johansen, Karen Galusha and Corey Galusha and great-granddaughter, Kayla Dishuck. JOHNSON -- Helen W. Johnson, 93, of Abilene, TX died Wednesday, November 11, 2004, at a local care center. Mrs. Johnson's wishes to be cremated will be carried out by Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St., Abilene, TX. Interment of the cremains will be at a later date in Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Mrs. Johnson was born in Silverton, TX on February 6, 1911, to the late Jack Monroe and Sarah Cleo (Kitchens) Williams. She was a high school graduate and then attended Texas Tech, receiving her B.A. degree in the summer of 1942. She taught school at Foster and Rochester, TX prior to three years of teaching at Chama, NM, for a total of 27 years, before retiring from the Albuquerque Public Schools in 1973. She married Sam B. Johnson in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1942. He also preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

NUANES -- Mrs. Susan Otero Nuanes, 82, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 22, 2004 with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Nuanes is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Mr. Romolo Nuanes; two daughters, Lucille Nuanes and husband, John Waskiewicz, Joan Nuanes and Dennis Schneider; one son, Romolo R. Nuanes and wife, Gloria; two sisters, Josephine Baca and Carmen O. Hauser; one brother, Felipe Otero and wife, Dorothy; four grandchildren, Tamara, Brian, Diana and Richard; three great-grandchildren, Chad, Ashley and Victoria; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Nuanes was a member of the Catholic Church, President of the Senior Council, Multi Cultural Senior Center for ten years, life member of the ceramics club at the Barelas Community Center; she was a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, she was always very proud that one of her Cub Scouts grew up to be State Senator Richard Romero; she was also honored by Congresswoman Heather Wilson as an OUTSTANDING volunteer and had numerous citations from the Governor and Mayor. She also worked as an election poll official in Bernalillo County for many years. A visitation will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mrs. Gabriella Nieto. OTERO -- Alice. The family of Mrs. Alice C. PETTIGREW -- Lily Elizabeth Pettigrew (86) passed away on November 22, 2004 at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after an extended illness. She was the youngest of six children born to the late Joseph Edward Pettigrew II and Edith Lillian Wannamaker Pettigrew of 1117 Cherokee Road, Florence, South Carolina. She was a graduate of Greensboro College (now UNC Greensboro) in 1940, and obtained her Masters Degree at Vanderbilt University. She worked in Washington, D.C. as a personnel supervisor in the Veteran's Administration. She later became Chief of Personnel at the Veteran's Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She retired from a very successful career with the Federal Government in 1974. She was very active in Civic clubs, and did extensive volunteer work with charitable, political, and literary groups serving in many capacities. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was devoted to her family and her heritage. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Edith Wannamaker Pettigrew, Frances Pettigrew Owen, and her brothers Joseph Edward Pettigrew, Jr., George Wannamaker Pettigrew, and James Alexander Pettigrew, sisters-in-law Margaret Elizabeth Ross Pettigrew, and Ruth Critcher Pettigrew. Surviving Elizabeth are nieces and nephews: Mary Frances Owen Hulberg and husband Chuck, George Wannamaker Pettigrew II and wife Linda, Joseph Edward (Ned) Pettigrew III, Gwynne Pettigrew Jeffords, Joy Pettigrew Ackerman and husband Bill, H. Timmons Pettigrew and wife Shirley, Nancy Ruth Pettigrew Robinson and husband Barry, William Edward (Bill) Pettigrew, and numerous devoted great and great-great nieces and nephews. After a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 26, 2004, she will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery with her parents and other family members. RAEL -- Linda Rael, 53, a New Mexico native, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2004 surrounded by family at her home in Albuquerque. Linda was an account manager for Blue Cross - Blue Shield of NM. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend. Linda is survived by her children Matthew Vigil, Christina Romero and Juanita Vigil and grand-children Adrianna Vigil and Andre Romero. She will be forever missed and never forgotten. A celebration of her life will be held Friday at 10 am at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph's Drive NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120, across from St Pius. SANCHEZ -- Conception Sanchez, 93, passed into the hands of our Lord, Tuesday, November 23, 2004. She was born on December 6, 1910. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Solomon, her baby boy, Charles, her parents, Venceslao and Erinea Baca, her mother and father-in-law, Juan Cruz and Barbarita Sanchez, her sisters Frances Aragon, Elsie Romero, Vera Griego, Marcella Sanchez, Katherine Lopez, Margaret Maestas and her brothers, Martin, Serafico, Pete and Tony Baca, seven brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. SANTISTEVAN -- Cora S. Santistevan, 64, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home in the arms of loving family on November 20, 2004. Mrs. Santistevan is survived by her daughter, Annette V. Robledo and husband, Joseph; her son, Greg L. Santistevan and wife, Evelyn; two grandchildren, Lauren Santistevan and Gregory M. Santistevan; her mother, Mina Archunde; three sisters, Rose Gallegos, Renay Gallegos, Josie Marquez and husband, Gene; two brothers, Gilbert Archunde and Stanley Archunde. Mrs. Santistevan was a member of the Catholic Church, was an employee and facility manager of the Albuquerque Federal Savings and Loan, retired from Albuquerque Police Department and was team leader of the Fingerprint Specialist Dept. A visitation for Mrs. Santistevan will be Friday morning, November 26, 2004, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with a Rosary to be recited at 8:30 a.m. by Josie Marquez and Rose Gallegos. SEYMOUR -- Jean Parrish Seymour, well known southwestern landscape artist and daughter of the famous illustrator, Maxfield Parrish, passed away quietly on November 19, 2004 at the Albuquerque Care Center where she had been a resident for four years. She was 93. Jean was born in Cornish, New Hampshire in the heyday of the flourishing art colony. She came in 1937 to Albuquerque, New Mexico, as the bride of Augustus T. (Joe) Seymour. They had one daughter, Anne. Their marriage came to an end in 1949, and this marked the beginning of Jean's long artistic career. She always painted under her maiden name, Jean Parrish. For an excellent review of her life, artistic abilities, and accomplishments please see MASTERS OF WESTERN ART, written by Mary Carroll Nelson, published 1982 by Watson-Guptill Publications. Occasionally her paintings can be found for sale on the Internet, but the vast majority of her work is still in private collections. Jean is survived by her daughter, Anne Seymour Heard; son-in-law, John Heard; two grandsons, David and Theodore Heard; granddaughter-in-law, Julieta; and two great-grandchildren, Andre and Camila. In accordance with Jean's wishes, her passing and her life will be celebrated with a festive gathering to be held in mid-January when her son-in-law will be back in country to participate. SHAW -- Bertie Faye Shaw, 74, of Knott, Texas died on Monday, November 22, 2004, in a Big Spring, Texas hospital after a 50 year battle with diabetes. Bertie and her husband, Larry built one of the most successful cotton farming businesses in the Southwest. Their business was featured in National Geographic and the National Cotton Farming magazines and received numerous awards and recognitions throughout the United States. Survivors include her husband, Larry Shaw of Knott, TX; one son, the Honorable Larry Don Shaw of Austin, TX; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Eric Johnson, teachers at Albuquerque High School in Albuquerque, NM; two sisters, Laura Gene Lawson of Albuquerque, NM and Wanda Stump of Bastrop, TX; three grandsons, Shawn Lepard and his wife, Stephanie of Guymon, OK, Chris Lepard and girlfriend, Sally Partridge of Austin, TX and Joe Romero of Albuquerque, NM; three granddaughters, Brooke, Brittany and Aubrey Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; three great grandchildren, Kristyn Lepard, Rachel and Aubrie Jamieson of Guymon, OK. SNYDER -- Malcolm J. Snyder, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away on November 23, 2004. He was born March 24, 1923, in Jamestown, New York, to Robert James and Madge E. Snyder. As a child, he moved with his parents to Toledo, Ohio where he grew up and graduated from high school. He enrolled in the University of Toledo and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity when WW II broke out. Malcolm enlisted in the Navy and eventually served on the USS Randolph as a torpedo pilot. Surviving combat and a crash landing in the ocean, he returned to complete his finance degree. Malcolm moved to Albuquerque in 1949, earning an MBA at the University of New Mexico and working at Sandia Labs from where he retired after 36 years. Malcolm is survived by his wife of 50 years, Allene Snyder; son, Michael James Snyder of Albuquerque; daughters Laura D. Bowman and husband Michael M. of Albuquerque, and Teri M. Johnson and husband Michael of Albuquerque; and four grandchildren, Byron Kroner, Cody and Troy Johnson, and Elizabeth Snyder. Malcolm's interests included golf, his beloved cabin at Elephant Butte, watching his grandchildren play sports, and his family, which Malcolm prized more than anything. He will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, in Albuquerque. VAUBEL -- Charles P. Vaubel, Jr., 84, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, November 21, 2004, with his wife, children and grandchildren at his side. Charlie was born January 13, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN. He was a WWII Veteran, serving his time on PT 311 in the Mediterranean. After moving to Albuquerque in 1958, Charlie was employed by Sandia National Labs and Kirtland Air Force Base. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 149 and a member of Temple Baptist Church. Charlie is survived by his wife, Betty; four children; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry; a sister, Georgian; and numerous nieces and nephews. ZINK -- Ramona E. Zink, born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on October 3, 1926 and a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died on November 23, 2004. Through her long journey of Parkinson's, she remained compassionate towards others.
