Helen W. Johnson, 93, of Abilene, TX died Wednesday, November 11, 2004, at a local care center. Mrs. Johnson's wishes to be cremated will be carried out by Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St., Abilene, TX. Interment of the cremains will be at a later date in Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Mrs. Johnson was born in Silverton, TX on February 6, 1911, to the late Jack Monroe and Sarah Cleo (Kitchens) Williams. She was a high school graduate and then attended Texas Tech, receiving her B.A. degree in the summer of 1942. She taught school at Foster and Rochester, TX prior to three years of teaching at Chama, NM, for a total of 27 years, before retiring from the Albuquerque Public Schools in 1973. She married Sam B. Johnson in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1942. He also preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
