Malcolm J. Snyder, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away on November 23, 2004. He was born March 24, 1923, in Jamestown, New York, to Robert James and Madge E. Snyder. As a child, he moved with his parents to Toledo, Ohio where he grew up and graduated from high school. He enrolled in the University of Toledo and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity when WW II broke out. Malcolm enlisted in the Navy and eventually served on the USS Randolph as a torpedo pilot. Surviving combat and a crash landing in the ocean, he returned to complete his finance degree. Malcolm moved to Albuquerque in 1949, earning an MBA at the University of New Mexico and working at Sandia Labs from where he retired after 36 years. Malcolm is survived by his wife of 50 years, Allene Snyder; son, Michael James Snyder of Albuquerque; daughters Laura D. Bowman and husband Michael M. of Albuquerque, and Teri M. Johnson and husband Michael of Albuquerque; and four grandchildren, Byron Kroner, Cody and Troy Johnson, and Elizabeth Snyder. Malcolm's interests included golf, his beloved cabin at Elephant Butte, watching his grandchildren play sports, and his family, which Malcolm prized more than anything. He will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, in Albuquerque.
