Allen -- Betty Ruth Allen, age 87, and an Albuquerque resident passed away at sea November 10, 2002. Betty was born in New York City on October 24, 1915 to the late Alexander and Beckie Allen. Survivors include her daughters, Tara Sue Allen of Albuquerque, NM, and Gail R. Springer and husband, Peter of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Dr. Alexander Granok and wife, April of St. Louis, MO, Dr. Howard Granok of St. Louis, MO, and Jillian Rae Springer of Santa Fe; great-grandchild, Eadric Granok; also many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Allen. She was a member of Congregation B'Nai Israel since 1951 and a life member of Hadassah and B?Nai Brith women, and a member of the sisterhood. Betty enjoyed playing bridge, fishing for trout in Northern NM and traveling. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at Fairview Memorial Park 700 Yale Blvd SE with Rabbi Arthur Flicker and Cantor Michael Dzubin officiating. Atler -- Daniel E. Atler, 48, a resident of Belen, passed away November 14, 2002. He is survived by his mother, Dina Atler of Belen; brother, Dominic of Albuquerque; sister, Darcel of Albuquerque; dear friend, Tom Duran; his paternal grandmother, Lillian Atler of Amarillo, TX; his aunts and uncles; six nieces, six nephews, and numerous friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandfather, his father, David and his brother, Dennis. Visitation for Daniel will be Friday, November 15, 2002, 5:00 p.m. until the time of the Rosary, which will be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2002, 11:00 a.m., at the chapel of Mt. Calvary Cemetery, with Deacon Pilar Garcia, officiating. Interment will follow. Briggs -- Feliciana Briggs, 24, died suddenly in San Diego, CA on Saturday, November 9, 2002. Feliciana graduated from Stanford University and was living in San Diego with her father at the time of her death. She is survived by her father, Charles L. Briggs and stepmother, Clara Mantini-Briggs; her mother, Helena Reilly; brother, Michael of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Jessie Fries-Kraemer; brother, Gabriel Fries-Briggs; their mother, Barbara Fries, all of Albuquerque; grandmother, Nancy Gay Robb Briggs; grandfather, William C. Briggs and friend, Barbara Ellis; uncle, Christopher Briggs and wife, Patricia; their children, Matthew and Rachel; great-uncle, Herbert R. Briggs; his children, Randy and JoAnn Briggs; great-uncle, John D. Robb, Jr. and wife, Peggy of Albuquerque; their children, John Celeste, Ellen, Brad, Jeffrey and David; and great-aunt, Priscilla McDonnell and husband, Sanford of St. Louis, MO; and their children, Robin and Randy. Feliciana graduated from the Taft School in Watertown, CT, she studied a year in France, worked with Native American children in Venezuela and the Center for International Policy in Washington, DC, was a gifted writer of short stories, fluent in French and Spanish, taught yoga, and loved to sing, dance and run. She will be remembered for her beauty and grace, her ebullient laughter, her intelligence and the strength of spirit and intensity of love with which she graced those who knew her. Brito -- Alfonso (Big Al) D. Brito, 74, peacefully left our lives when called home to be with our Lord. Born in Estancia, servicing our country in the United States Army, settling in Albuquerque upon his return. He served his community as a firefighter with Manzano Base and was dedicated to his family. He is forever living, always loved and remembered by his family, friends, and all he touched. Big Al is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth L. Brito; five daughters, Anita L. Miksch, Dolores M. Brock, Rebecca I. Myers, Roberta A. Brito and Joey E. Brito-Tenorio; three sons-in-law, Mark Miksch, Dean Tuckman and Ron Tenorio; and six grandchildren, Francisco J. Garcia, Johanna M. Stahlecker, Allison L. Brock, Christine M. Garcia, David A. Brock and Amy E. Brock; one great-grandchild, Maisie M. Dudley -- Virginia Baird Dudley, 77, died Tuesday, November 12, 2002 after a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Florence Baird Decker and Alan Glazebrook Decker. Virginia attended Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia, from which she graduated in 1945 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. She worked as a social worker in Roanoke, Virginia, until she met her future husband, Dr. J. Nicholas ¯Nick¯ Dudley, the health commissioner of Roanoke. On November 20, 1948, Virginia and Nick were married and continued to live in Roanoke until moving to Albuquerque in 1953. Virginia was active in the Ladies¯ Volunteer Auxiliary at Lovelace Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital, and Anna Kaseman Hospital, and she was a member of the Lovelace Wives¯ organization. She was an avid bridge player and a charter member of the ¯born to shop¯ brigade, who took special delight in finding the perfect gift. Virginia and Nick were active in three Albuquerque churches: Immanuel Presbyterian, First Presbyterian, and Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church. As a deacon for First Presbyterian Church, Virginia participated in various outreach activities. She was a busy mother, who was very involved in the lives and activities of her children. Virginia cherished time with her family, most recently participating in a family reunion in the months preceding her death. She enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband, including several trips to Europe, numerous cruises, and domestic destinations (her favorite being San Francisco)¯oftentimes to visit her children. Virginia is survived by her husband of 54 years, J. Nicholas Dudley, MD of Albuquerque and her four children and their families: James N. Dudley, Jr. and wife, Tonimarie; Kemper Dudley of San Francisco, California; Lt. Col. Robert Dudley, (USAF retired) of Memphis, Tennessee; and Carol Boswell and husband, Greg of Dayton, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan and Zachary Dudley of Albuquerque: Laura and Scott Dudley of Hampton, Virginia; and Lucas Boswell, of Dayton, Ohio. Other survivors include her brother, Robert Decker of Brookfield, Vermont; a cousin, Winfield Baird of Birmingham, Alabama; and close friend, Douglas Bond of San Francisco, California. A Memorial Service will be held at the same location on Friday, November 15, 2002 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Larry Moss officiating. Edwards -- Marian R. Edwards, 78, passed away on November 8, 2002. Marian was born May 22, 1924 in Chatham, New York. The daughter of John and Harriett Kelly. Marian graduated from Chatham High School in 1941 and the Albany Business College in 1943. Marian was a matron of honor of the"Amaranth" and a member of the United Methodist Church of Chatham. Marian and her husband Raymond moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1981, after his retirement from New York State Electric and Gas of Hillsdale NY. They were active members of the Desert Chapel United Methodist Church in Apache Junction, AZ. Marian is survived by her two sons, John R. Edwards of Albuquerque, NM and Alan C. Edwards of Gilbert, AZ; and her two sisters, Ilene Keil of Chatham NY and Helen Stalker or Titusville, FL. Emswiler -- Rodney L. Emswiler an Albuquerque native for 43 years passed away November 14, 2002 after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Emswiler. Forman -- Dorothy G. Forman, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, November 13, 2002 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Forman of Albuquerque; daughters, Nancy L. Helander of Fruitland Park, FL, Anita M. Malone-Jupp and husband, Dr. Rob of Veguita, NM and Kathi J. Ball and husband, Jerry Wayne of Pasadena, TX; and special companions, Charlie and Brownie. Mrs. Forman was active with arts and crafts; taught quilting and other crafts at the 4-H Center in Albuquerque. Mrs. Forman loved her animals and gardening; Cabbage Patch dolls and pink flamingos were her favorites. Gage -- June Hall Gage, 87, a resident of Carefree, AZ died Monday, November 4, 2002 in Albuquerque of cancer. She was born June 15, 1915 in Perkins, OK and was raised in Texarkana, AR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery M. Gage who died December 24, 1996. They were married February 11, 1945 in Texarkana. The Gages lived in Los Alamos, NM until their retirement in 1979. June worked as an executive secretary in the theoretical physics division of Los Alamos National Laboratory for 14 years. They lived part-time in Los Alamos and in Carefree, AZ until moving permanently to Carefree in 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Gage Hume and husband, William C. Hume; and her son, William A. Gage and wife, Fairy Heiser Gage; and four grandchildren, William Avery Hume, Elizabeth Anafred Hume, Katherine Elizabeth Gage and Michael William Gage. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard V. Hall and wife, Julie Hall, and Robert E. Hall and wife, Betty Ann Hall; sister-in-law, Mary Gage Nowlen and husband, Wayne Nowlen; brother-in-law, William H. Jaramillo -- John A. (Chief) Jaramillo Sr. a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 11, 2002. Mr. Jaramillo is survived by two daughters, Valerie Gallagher and husband, Brian, Yvette Rivera and husband, Robert; one son, John Jaramillo Jr. and girlfriend, Elizabeth Garcia; several grandchildren; ex-wife, Inez Jaramillo; several brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Keegan -- Mildred Irene Keegan, surrounded by her children, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2002. Mildred was born in Long Island, NY on June 11, 1916 to Josephine Penfold and William Ninesling. Mildred, a devoted wife and mother, is survived by her loving children, JoBeth Wakenigg, Pat Turpen, Carol Horn, Michael Keegan; seven grandchildren, Michael Wakenigg, Tad Harris, Richard D. Wakenigg, Robb Keegan, Randy Wakenigg, Kerry Keegan, Brian Keegan; and ten great-grandchildren. Rogers -- Daniel H. Rogers, 78, of San Jose, California passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2002. He was born on February 13, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan. Dan moved with his family to Bay City, MI in the 1930's where he graduated from Bay City Central. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the War, Dan returned to Bay City, MI where he married the late Barbara Benson, who was from Flint, MI. Dan later moved to Midland, MI where he owned and operated Auto Parts and Spring Co. The business was sold in the early 1970's and Dan relocated to California. Dan was a lifelong member of the Elks Club and a founding member of Temple Beth El in Midland. His parents, Joseph Rogers and Bertha Kaizman Rogers and his brother, Albert Rogers, precede Dan in death. Dan is survived by his son, Elliot Rogers of Chevy Chase, Maryland; his son, Steven Rogers and daughter-in-law, Marjorie Rogers of Albuquerque and his daughter, Carole Yuster and son-in-law, Keith Yuster of Highland Park, Illinois. Three grandchildren, Alissa Rogers and Stephanie Rogers of Grand Rapids and Adam Yuster of Highland Park, Illinois Park; and his brother Sam Rogers and sister-in-law, Florence (Babe) Rogers of Bay City also survive Dan. Russell -- Michael Kevin Russell, age 33, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died November 11, 2002 as a result of a heart attack. Survivors include his mother, Joan J. Russell; sister, Margaret M. Russell; brother, James V. Russell V all of Albuquerque; nieces, Samantha and Shaylene; nephews, John J. and Michael L.; and numerous aunts and uncles. Michael was a 1987 graduate of St. Pius X High School, and served in the U.S.A.F. He and his brother James were father figures to their nieces and nephews. Michael loved all sports and was an avid Buffalo Bills and OU Sooners Fan. He coached little league baseball for several years. Michael was liked and loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. Stober -- Russell Stober, 49, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, November 13, 2002. He is survived by his aunts, Doris Hudgeons and husband, Arnold of Gallup and Lenore Stober of Albuquerque; brothers, Richard Norman Helm and wife, Lisa and Carl Anthony Helm and wife, Vasha; sister, Georgia Parks and husband, Eric, all of Denver, CO; six nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. Mr. Stober was preceded in death by his sister; parents; and grandparents. He was born to Russell Thomas and Denise Stober and was adopted by his maternal grandparents Carl and Ivadell Stober. Mr. Stober was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church. He volunteered time at several nursing homes. Sussmann -- Patricia Sussmann died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 after a long illness. She was 87. Though she spent the last decades of her life in New Mexico, she was born in Ashfield, Massachusetts on April 16, 1915. ¯Both her parents were educators, her father, Rudolf Sussmann, a high school principal and her mother, Mildred Brooks, tutored students in Greek and Latin. Patricia, like her mother, was educated at Radcliffe College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1937. After graduation, she worked for the WPA in Washington DC and later the State Department. In 1943, the State Department transferred her to London, and later Brussels where she spent the rest of the War. During the post-war years, she was based in Paris with the Marshall Plan. Returning to the States in the early 50s she moved to Chicago where she worked as Director of Volunteer Services for the American Hospital Association and became an active volunteer with the Lincoln Park Zoo. After retiring from the AHA, she moved to Albuquerque, and began a second career as Public Information Officer for UNM Hospital until she retired again in 1982. After her second retirement, she turned her energies to volunteer work. She was a staunch supporter of the environment and animal rights. She served on the Board of Directors for the New Mexico Zoological Society and was the lead founder of the Friends of the Rio Grande Botanic Gardens. She was active in both supporting and volunteering her time with the Democratic Party and was a full time volunteer in Senator Bingaman's first campaign in 1982. She was also active in the New Mexico Harvard-Radcliffe Club. She is survived by her brother, Philip Sussmann of Albuquerque and her nieces Pamela Stovall of California and Cynthia Gruver of Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will be held at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd, NE on Saturday, November 16, 2002 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in Patricia's name, to the Rio Grande Botanic Gardens, 2601 Central, NW, 87104.

Vivar -- Randolph Vivar, passed away on November 12, 2002 in his home from a heart attack. Randy was a decorated Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Born to Jesus and Victoria Vivar in Los Angeles, CA on April 27, 1940. Randy was a Security Police officer in the Air Force for 11 years. He was in the U.S. Army for five years in the Reserve and retired with Honorable Discharge in 1990. Randy was in Mounted Patrol in New Mexico and was also a Commission Sheriff for Valencia County. Randy retired from the Department of Labor after 25 years of service. Randy was an active member of Calvary Temple where he served in a variety of ministries. Randy spent his whole life serving other people and protecting his country. He is survived by his wife, Gie Vivar; brother, Robert Vivar and family of California; three daughters, Michelle, Angela and Fawn; one son, Randy; and several grandchildren. Service will take place on Monday, November 18, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 5331 Montano NW, with Pastor Micheal Dickenson, officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Calvary Temple, 5331 Montano NW, Albuquerque, NM, designated for Philippines Missions. Ward -- Ross J. Ward, 62, a resident of Sandia Park for 34 years passed away in comfort November 13, 2002, after a five year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Ross is survived by his dog, Radar; wife, Carla; daughter, Tanya and husband, David Goodman; grandson, Theodore Roscoe of Los Angeles; and son, Jason and wife, Megan Ward, and granddaughter, Hedy Rose of Albuquerque; Sandra Stangle, mother of Tanya and Jason; and countless relatives, friends and visitors to Tinkertown Museum. Ross was born in Aberdeen, SD on April 5, 1940. Artist, woodcarver, sign painter, showman and self-described"free thinker", Ross Ward's hands were seldom idle. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1959 and ran away to join the circus. He is the creator of the Tinkertown Museum in Sandia Park, NM. His creativity, imagination and sense of wonder continue to inspire, influence and amaze us all. His Moto was,"I did all this while you were watching TV". The family would like to thank the loving staff in the Arcadia Unit at Manor Care Sandia for the care and comfort he received over the last year of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of New Mexico. Cremation has taken place. Family is holding a private Service over the weekend and a public Memorial is scheduled for April 5, 2002 at Tinkertown Museum.

Woodley -- James (Jim) T. Woodley, 68, died at UNM Hospital on November 12, 2002 following a lengthy illness. James was born November 28, 1933 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Howard G. and Mary Elizabeth Woodley. He served in the USAF from 1951 to 1955. He married Evangeline (Vangy) Vialpando of Parkview, NM, in January of 1955. Jim is survived by his wife, Vangy of the family home. He is also survived by two children, son, Kenny and wife, Jamie and their four daughters,¯ Rojan of Concord, CA., Jennifer, Brandy and Cassie of Albuquerque; daughter, Kandy and husband, Tom Berry and their two children, Kage and Brooke of Albuquerque. Last but not least, great-granddaughter, Alexus Rayne Woodley. We will all miss his compassion,¯ humor and companionship. We wish him a safe journey and we will see him again. Memorial Services will be held at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming NE. A rosary will be recited Friday, November 15, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UNMH Neuroscience ICU; 2211 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. 87106.
