Abeyta -- Joseph"Mark" Abeyta, 38, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, April 18, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Manuel and Frances Abeyta; son, Joseph Andrew Abeyta; fiancé, Monica Roybal; mother of his son, Andrea Abeyta, all of Albuquerque; a number of aunts and uncles; and nephew, Julian Christopher Gallegos of Albuquerque. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 6:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 a.m., at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 Plaza NW, Old Town. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Roybal, Paul Martinez, Antonio Coca, Ronnie Jaramillo, Diego Roybal, Tony Saavedra, Victor Coca and Dean Salas. Brown -- Arthur W. (Art) died in his sleep March 27, 2002, at a rest home in Duluth, MN. He was 87. He was born and raised in Iowa. Art and his wife-to-be, Elizabeth (Bess), came to and were married in Albuquerque in 1946. Art served in the U. S. Army Air Corps in Florida during World War II where he met Bess. Art entered the real estate business in the 1950's from which he retired in 1997. He was founder and president of Little-Brown & Co. Inc. His real estate work was concentrated on Albuquerque's west side He was indeed a visionary and became recognized for his knowledge about the area. Art was always upbeat and optimistic about Albuquerque, making predictions about how the west side would look in the future. He lived to see all but a few of them come true. Bess preceded Art in death in December 2000. Their ashes will be scattered in Albuquerque.

Calderon -- Albina R. Calderon, 85, a resident of Albuquerque, died on April 17, 2002. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Eva Vasquez of Carlsbad, NM, Emma Gallegos and husband, Tony of Albuquerque and Rose Ann Romero and husband, Mark of Albuquerque; 4 sons, Juan Carrasco of El Paso, TX, Abel Carrasco of Albuquerque, Manuel ¯Chito¯ Carrasco and wife, Marylou of Carlsbad and Ruben Carrasco and wife, Mary Jane of San Diego, CA; one stepdaughter, Lupe Sanchez and husband, Celso; and one stepson, Juan Calderon and wife, Rita, all of Albuquerque. Albina is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 33, great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Damas F. Calderon on July 31, 2001. Rosary will be recited on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary ¯ Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks North of Paseo Del Norte) Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday at 10:00 a.m at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th St. NW. Caller -- James M. Caller, 97, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Edith DeWitt Caller; daughter, Joan Collins; granddaughter, Kelli Collins and husband, Michael Wilson and great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Lindsay Barr. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Signe A. Caller in 1978. Mr. Caller was an Electrical Engineer for General Electric, RCA, Sperry Gyroscape, Raytheon and retired from Sandia Labs in 1969. He was a member of the Shrine, Eastern Star, Sons of the American Revolution and a member of the Masonic Daylight Lodge #77 of which he was Worshipful Master at the age of 90 years. Graveside Services will be held at Sandia Memory Gardens on Saturday, April 20, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Myron White of First Presbyterian Church and Ron Brinkman of Zia Daylight Lodge #77 will preside. Delong -- Elizabeth (Beth) Jane DeLong, loving mother and grandmother, died peacefully after living with cancer for 2 1/ 2 years, Tuesday, April 16, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Audrey Hagen and husband, Rody of Jackson, WY; son, John Robert Pansewicz and wife, Michelle Bevier of Wilson, WY; daughter, Camille Elizabeth Pansewicz of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Tomi John Hagen and Annabel Jane Hagen; and soul-sisters, Marie Killebrew of Albuquerque and Mary Bartholomew of Randolph, MA. Beth was born in Troy, NY and graduated from the University of Rochester School of Nursing in New York. She was a Registered Nurse for 40 years, most recently at St. Joseph¯s Rehabilitation Hospital. She was a positive healer for many years, and practiced Reiki and Healing Touch with her patients. Beth was a resident of Albuquerque for six years and she loved the southwest. Think of... Stepping on shore, and finding it Heaven! Of taking hold of a hand, and finding it God's hand. Of breathing a new air and finding it celestial air. Of feeling invigorated, and finding it immortality. Of passing from storm to tempest to an unbroken calm. Dickens -- Carl E."Chub" Dickens 89, a longtime resident of Albuquerque Died on April 17, 2002. He was born September 6, 1912 in the"Little Stone Jug" in Newfield, New York. Chub was preceded in death, by his wife, Ellen A. Dickens; and is survived by his daughter, Lisa Maurer and husband, Stephen; sons, Carl E. Dickens Jr., John A. Dickens and wife, Lynne and Casey Dickens; grandchildren, Gretchen and Elizabeth Dickens and Antal Maurer; and step-grandsons, Dennis and Clint Phillips. Chub is also survived by numerous friends. Chub was known and loved by many and will be greatly missed. A picnic and memorial are planned for 12:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2002 at Dixon's Apple Orchard.

Gabaldon -- Phillip E. Gabaldon, 53, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Los Chavez passed away on April 18, 2002. He was a member of the Holy Family Church in Albuquerque. Phillip retired from GTE Lenkurt as a Maintenance Technician after twenty-two years of dedicated service. After his retirement, he went to the Motor Cycle Mechanic Institute in Phoenix, AZ. and graduated in 1994. After his graduation, he went to work at Nail Fast in Albuquerque as a pneumatic tools mechanic. Phillip was a top-notch Harley Davidson mechanic and Harley owners always sought him out to work on their bikes or just to shoot the breeze about motorcycles. He was a long time member of the Harley Owners Group. Next to his love for his family, he loved when his wife, Angie would go with him on long runs on their"Hog." All his family individually accompanied him out on the road on many occasions. Phillips sense of humor and caring ways will be dearly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank D. and Mary S. Gabaldon; his brother and sister, Salomon and Rosie Gabaldon. Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Angie; his children, Phillip Gabaldon Jr. and his wife, Sue of Belen; Valerie Gabaldon and her fiancé, Andrew Ulibarri; Victoria Gabaldon and Adrian Platero, both of the family home in Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Amanda, Alexis, and Mateo; his twin brother, Philbert and his wife, Lydia, of Los Lunas; and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Beckie Gabaldon of Anaheim, CA. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Hayden -- Stewart Hayden, 77, died Saturday, April 13, 2002. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Baca and husband, Albert of Albuquerque and Cindy Braaten and husband, Dennis of Katy, TX; and grandchildren, Alison Kathryn Baca, Catherine Blair Braaten and Connor Hayden Braaten. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn. Mr. Hayden, a former resident of Albuquerque, was living in Houston, TX at the time of his death. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. While in Albuquerque, Mr. Hayden worked for Papercraft, before retiring in 1993. Kubitz -- Carol Summerside Kubitz, age 90, passed away April 13, 2002 at her home in Albuquerque. She was born November 16, 1911 in Huron, South Dakota to Frank and Caroline (Oestreich) Summerside. She was a resident of the Montebello Retirement Community for the past seven years. Prior to her move to Albuquerque she and her husband, Vern were residents of Gallup since 1954. She graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1934 and taught physical education until her marriage in 1938. In Gallup, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was extremely active with a number of community organizations including the American Association of University Women, the Hospital Auxiliary, Girl Scouts and was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star of Redfield South Dakota. She is survived by daughters, Anne Jue of Tucson, AZ, Julie Lucas (Curtis) of Hobbs, NM and Jill Chavez (Lee) of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Randy Jue, Debbie Jue, Lory Nunez (Ben), Kevin Lucas, Stephanie Behrens (Kirk), and Domonic Chavez; and great-grandchildren, Allison Jue, Stetson and Emma Lucas, Derrick and Cera Nunez, Christopher and Nicholas Behrens. She is survived by siblings, Robert Summerside of Pierre, SD, George Summerside of Libby, MT, Frank Summerside of La Mars, IA, and Rosemary Meyers of Phoenix, AZ. Mrs. Kubitz was preceded in death by her husband, Vern in 1984; son-in-law, Jim Jue; siblings, Dorothy Taylor, Helen Lawson, and Jean Summerside. Lord -- Rose Mary Lord, age 55, died on April 17, 2002 in Albuquerque. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rio Rancho and her Lord and family were priority in her life. Rose Mary was a very loving, caring person who never met a stranger. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting, especially wild turkeys. She was preceded in death by her mother, Christiana Gutierrez, in 1997. Rose Mary will be dearly missed by family and friends who survive her, including husband, Wayne Lord; and son, Andrew; and her father, Catrino Gutierrez. Also surviving are four sisters, Betty Marquez and husband, Richard, Aurora Gonzales, Lulu Trujillo and husband, Freddie, and Susie Torres and husband, Ray; a brother, Walter Gutierrez; numerous nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of good friends. Rademacher -- Rosella E. Rademacher, age 91, died April 17, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born March 28, 1911 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Michael J. and Margaret E. (Gilmore) Ryan. Reubold -- Jeanne Sawyer Reubold, born in Chicago, IL on October 3, 1914, died in Albuquerque, NM on April 17, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Reubold, of Albuquerque; a cousin, Dr. James B. Marks and wife, Nancy of Huntsville, TX; and several great-nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her"other" daughters, Mary Wells and husband, John; grandson, Philip Wells, and Debi Burud, all of Minnesota. She is also survived by the"livestock", Bubba, Boy and Hawkeye. Her life was enriched by Cathy's wonderful friends, especially Kate Piper and Cathy's best friend, Jim Sampson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Reubold. Jeanne was born in Chicago, IL and resided there until her family relocated to Wisconsin. She graduated from Columbia School of Nursing in Milwaukee, WI and did post graduate work in obstetrics. When Cathy started school, Jeanne went back to her nursing career, this time as an industrial nurse. She was very active in various nursing organizations and held state offices. She was a World War II veteran, serving as an officer in the army, mostly in the South Pacific, utilizing her skills as a Registered Nurse. She was very proud of her military service and was a life member of the American Legion, joining in 1958. After she and Art retired in 1970, they moved to Albuquerque. She then began another career as a Pink Lady at Anna Kaseman Hospital until health problems forced her to quit. She had a long, interesting and productive life and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to Jeanne's wonderful doctor, Dr. John Guttman and the Lovelace hospice unit, especially Pam and Sherie; also to the wonderful, compassionate caregivers from Home Instead, Donna, Lori and our new good friend, JoAnn. Salopek -- John Salopek, 80, passed away Monday, April 15, 2002 at Arbors of Del Rey. He was born September 22, 1921 in Ogulin, Croatia to David and Mary Salopek. In 1929, the family moved to White Spur, north of El Paso, TX then to the Mesilla Valley in 1935. He attended Las Cruces High School where he received a testimonial for unusual ability as Livestock Judge held at the American Royal Livestock Show in Kansas City, Missouri in 1939. He graduated from New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts, now New Mexico State University, February 4, 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He belonged to the New Mexico Farm Bureau, Southwest Irrigated Cotton Growers, Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post #0010. He was on the Board of Directors of Mesilla Gin; and chairman of the board for Elephant Butte Irrigation District for 18 years resigning in 1997. In December 1999, he was inducted into the Sam Steel Society at New Mexico State University for being a pioneer in using full-grown pecan transplants. He was an avid financial supporter of NMSU and cooperator in pecan research. He married Margaret Meny in 1947 and married Dacia Custer Salopek in 1980. John was a second lieutenant in the 242nd Rainbow Division, G company in World War II. He was reported missing in action, but taken prisoner spending three months in a German prison camp before escaping. It took him 13 days in mid-winter to get back to American lines. In the process his feet were frozen and turning black, but were saved by a French Red Cross worker, Xavier Cattay, who hid him in a wine cellar and enlisted a nurse to treat his feet with bandages soaked in brandy. He received the Bronze Star for exemplary conduct in ground combat against the enemy, the Silver Star, and the Purple Heart. He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Mary; brothers, Tony, David, and Frank. He is survived by his wife, Dacia, of Las Cruces; his seven children, Ellen Walth of Boulder, CO, Jim Salopek of Santa Fe, NM, Jack Salopek and wife, Vicki of Las Cruces, Elizabeth Hoffman and husband, Bill of Las Cruces, Patty Kinney and husband, Bob of Albuquerque, Steve Salopek and wife, Marcia of Las Cruces; and Christine Brown and husband, Bill of Grapevine, TX; step-children, Gary and Sandra Steele of Dripping Springs, TX and Laura Montoya and husband, Marty of Las Cruces; his sister, Ann Hoffman of Albuquerque, NM; and brother, Tom Salopek; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, at Graham Mortuary. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2002 at Graham Mortuary Chapel. Private Burial Services will be at Santa Fe Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.

Sheridan -- James Ralph Sheridan, age 66, passed away April 16, 2002, a resident here 28 years. Mr. Sheridan was a well-known General Contractor and custom cabinetmaker. He is survived by his wife, Renate; one son, James R. Sheridan, Jr.; three daughters, Cathy Shisler and husband, Mark, Julie Miller and husband, James, Melissa R. Sheridan-Papas; step-children, Mario Gridley, Candie Borg; four sisters, Delores Dodge and husband, Ronald, Fran Kubinski and husband, Ralph, Ann Fowler and husband, Rick, Helen Ruth Rutherford; five grandchildren, Aaron and Adam Sheridan, Ryan and Kelly Sheridan and Lois James Papas. She is preceded in death by siblings, Charles Sheridan, Margaret Bulloch, Catherine Hansen, Carl Eugene Sheridan; and her parents, Thomas and Effie Sheridan. Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2002 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Sim -- George H. Sim, 83, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on April 17, 2002.
