Apodaca -- Mrs. Evange T. Apodaca, 69, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on March 19, 2002. Mrs. Apodaca is the beloved mother to one daughter, Gera Apodaca-Provencio and husband, Jose; two sons, Mike Apodaca and girlfriend, Rose Otero, Jacob Apodaca and wife, Esther. Mrs. Apodaca is also survived by three sisters, Linda Cordova and husband, Tony, Nasaria Montoya, Natalia Andrews and husband, Tom; four brothers, Merced Tafoya and wife, Annabelle, Leo Tafoya and wife, Eva, Eloy Tafoya and wife, Mary, Jacob Borjorquez and wife, Betty; eleven grandchildren, Jared, Kevin, Brian, Steven, Miguel, Chris, Michelle, Yolanda, Natalie, Erica and Valarie; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Apodaca was a member of the Catholic Church. A viewing will be Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 Lizz and Larry Large, Annette Apodaca and Debbie Wood, reciting. A final viewing will be Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW, with A Communion Service to be held at 11:00am by Deacon Harry Beare. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be, Joe Gabaldon, Bib Apodaca, Abie Apodaca, Johnny Tafoya, Wayne Cordova and Stanley Tafoya. Baxter -- Beatrice Baxter, age 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 60 years went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 17, 2002. Mrs. Baxter is survived by one daughter, Linda Malseed and husband, Robert A.; one son, James Baxter and wife, Norma-Jean all of Albuquerque, three grandchildren, Stacy Baxter, Matthew and Chris Doxtator; one niece, Carolyn Greer also survive her. She was a member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Albuquerque Duplicate Bridge Club. Viewing and Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 21, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. in the Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary with Pastor Ken Moore officiating. Berbiglia -- Joseph P. Berbiglia passed away Sunday morning, March 17, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Berbiglia; and his three grown children, Michael J. Berbiglia, Peter J. Berbiglia and Betsy Villines; and grandchildren. Mr. Berbiglia attended the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, NM and graduated in 1949. He also worked in the Liquor Distributing business through out the state of New Mexico. Final viewing will be held on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. also at the church. Burial will take place at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Chavez, Jay Romero, Jorge Reyes, Ron Waddell, Richard Casaus and Leon Jaramillo. Bourbonia -- Ora (Caudill) Bourbonia, age 92, a lifelong resident of New Mexico died March 19, 2002. She was born in the territory of New Mexico in the township of Lovington, NM to James W. Caudill and Martha Cornett. Ora is survived by daughter, Betty Jean Davis of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughters, Janice Anderson and husband, Brian of Albuquerque, NM, Elizabeth Cox of Albuquerque, NM; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Duncan and husband, Dave of Las Cruces, NM, Jonny Cummins, Tommy Cummins and Jimmy Anderson all of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Mittie McGuire of Las Cruces, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John A. Bourbonia. As a young girl she and her family moved to Tyrone, NM during WWI, graduating from Silver City High School in Silver City, NM, she attended New Mexico State Teachers College in Silver City, NM, where she received her Teacher's Certificate, specializing in mathematics, upon graduation she was hired in Rincon, NM, where she met her future husband. Ora and John also resided in Hatch, NM, moving to Albuquerque in 1955, particularly rewarding were her many years of service to the International Order of Rainbow for Girls at Hatch Assembly #26 as Mother Advisor as well as serving as Worthy Matron of Hatch Chapter #52 Order of the Eastern Star. Ora held many state offices and committee positions for the Grand Chapter of New Mexico O.E.S. Including attending the International Convention of General Grand Chapter in Edenborough, Scotland. She enjoyed Ballroom Dancing, was an excellent Bridge Player and a master gardener with a special Love of roses. She was also a very active member of many other organizations. Prior to retirement, Ora was Credit Manager for Fedway Dept Stores for 10 years. Following her husband's death, she resided at La Vida Llena retirement center where she enjoyed many friends. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply and spent many hours teaching and caring for them. The family wishes to thank all staff members at LVL, especially Shirley Gilbertson for their many hours of care. Services will be held March 23, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE with Rev. Charles Price officiant. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park 700 Yale Blvd SE.

Byerly -- Helen Byerly, 97, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2002. Helen was born November 3, 1904 the daughter of Carl Edwin and Louisa Elizabeth Lewis Shepard in Danville, Illinois. She loved the beauty of New Mexico and enjoyed square dancing and rock hunting in her active days. Helen will be remembered for her kindness and her wonderful smile, even in the throes of dementia. She leaves us with many beautiful memories and will be deeply missed. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert O. Byerly in 1994. She is survived by her son, Charles and wife, Sue of Chatham, Illinois; her daughter, Brenda of Rio Rancho; her grandson, Todd Byerly; and granddaughter, Laura Ash, both of Illinois; and her sister, Nevada DeNeal and husband, Ray of Roanoke, Virginia. The family extends its thanks to the staff at the Rio Rancho Nursing Center for the outstanding and loving care they gave Helen for the past six years. Garcia -- Nick T. Garcia was born in Albuquerque, NM. May 9, 1923 and passed away March 20, 2002 in Albuquerque. He was a retired plasterer, and loved to chop wood. Nick loved spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret of the family home in Corrales; eleven children, Frankie Garcia and wife, Juanita, Emily Gomez and husband, Alex, Nick Garcia and Gloria, Elizabeth Sanchez and husband, David, Barbara Montoya and husband, Tino, Andy Garcia and wife, Henrietta, Johnny Garcia and wife, Henrietta, Roberta Garcia and husband, Louis, Betty Bradley and husband, Kenny, Chris Garcia and wife, Rita, Bobby Garcia and wife, Eileen; brother, Valentine Garcia and wife, Rose; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who loved and will miss him. Jaramillo -- Tomasita (Tomie) Jaramillo, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, passed away peacefully from her life, Saturday, March 16, 2002 in Albuquerque. She was born October 29, 1925 to the late Celedon and Castula Romero in Valverde, NM. Tomie was preceded in death by her husband, Tranquilino Jaramillo, Jr. in 1985; one brother, Pete Romero in 1994; a son-in-law, Greg Gutierrez in 1995. Tomie and Tranquilino Jr. were married on May 10, 1947 and had two sons, Richard Jaramillo and wife, Susie Racheal, Bobby Jaramillo; one daughter, Ernestine (Ernie) Gutierrez of Socorro, NM; her grandchildren, Gloria and husband, Val Anaya Jr. of Albuquerque, Brenda and husband, Mando Renteria of Las Cruces, NM, Lisa and boyfriend, Steven of Albuquerque, Crystal and husband, Kyle Wisdom of Aviano, Italy, and Lori of Albuquerque. Also surviving are one brother, Celedon and Aurora Romero of Socorro; numerous other relatives, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her for her strength, smile and sense of humor. She was a lady of deep faith that enjoyed dancing, crocheting, seek find words, cooking, baking and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church; a member and volunteer of the North Side Senior Citizens. Visitations will be held Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Jensen -- Nettie Opal Jensen, Grandma Opal, went into the arms of the Lord, March 19, 2002. Opal was born November 12,1920 and lived in New Mexico most of her life. Opal was a great Christian. She loved and cared for her family and everyone she came in contact with. Her faith was very important to her, and she lived it every day as an example to all. Opal is survived by her children, David Ray, Peggie Russell, Carolyn Anderson and husband, Listen, Kenneth Jensen and wife, Teresa, Blanch Castruita and husband, Jesus; and her grandson, David E. Ray whom she raised and thought of as her son and his wife, Linda. Opal Had 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren, and many family and friends she loved and shared her life and faith with. Kerston -- Evelyn V. DeVoss Lewis Kerston, born December 31, 1911, died Sunday, March 17, 2002. She is survived by her son, Charles Lewis and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Ken Lewis, Mike Lepp, Jessica Lepp; great-grandchildren, Brendan Kutschbach, and Felicia Romo; and brother, Roy K. DeVoss and wife, Margaret of Wichita, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Edward in 1987 and sister, Pearly Kinney in 1993. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.

Lovato -- Thomas M. Lovato, 88, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, March 16, 2002. He is preceded in death and is now welcomed home by his wife, Stella Lovato; son, Fred Lovato; and daughter, Florence Luna. He is survived by his grandson, Landan Lovato; granddaughter, Leslie Luna Shaw and husband, Kelly; great-granddaughters, Caitlin Florence Shaw and Elycia Ravae Lovato; sisters, Tina Cohn, Rose Anderson and husband, Andy; brothers, Julio Lovato and wife, Doris, Tony Lovato and wife, Evelyn, David Lovato; and his brother, Bennie Lovato who preceded him in death. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Tom, started in the trucking business, but soon discovered his destiny was in the bar business. He and his wife were more successful than they imagined and the bar business became Tom's passion for more than 40 years. After a brief retirement to care and devote himself to his terminally ill wife, he re-opened one of his earliest ventures, the Turf Lounge, and continued to operate it into his eighties. He was a persistent and tireless man who believed in staying busy and always taking care of his family."Dada" you will be greatly missed. Menapace -- Marion V. Menapace. Longtime northern New Mexico pioneer, Marion V. Menapace, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, in Perryton, Texas. Marion and her husband, Joe"Junior" Menapace, spent most of their lives in Roy, Springer and Maxwell, New Mexico. After Joe's death in 1982, Marion moved to Albuquerque and then on to Perryton, Texas. Marion was born December 14, 1921 in Columbine, Colorado to Lawrence and Emma Ayer. The family moved to Cimarron, New Mexico in the early 1920s where her father ran the Phillips Ranch (now known as Philmont), later moving to Roy. Marion graduated and married in Roy.The only time they lived away was during World War II when they were in California, returning just after the war. The Menapaces owned and operated Joe's Place in Roy, Club 85 in Springer and Lake 9 in Maxwell. They took an active interest in their home towns and were known for their generosity and"the couple to turn to" when someone was having a hard time. Marion loved children and opened her home to several nephews over the years. Marion was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Morris; and a sister, Ruth; She is survived by her son, Larry and Gwen Menapace of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Sherry and Gordon Beagle of Perryton and Joni Blackwell of Bakersfield, California; great-granddaughter, Amanda "Light of her life" Davis of Perryton; and numerous nephews and nieces plus countless friends. The family will be at the Roy Senior Center from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, with services following at 2:00 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Roy. Burial will follow at the Roy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the New Mexico Boys Ranch in Belen, New Mexico are appreciated.

Miller -- David A. Miller, age 81, a long time resident of Albuquerque passed away from this life, Saturday, March 16, 2002. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army and later joined the Air Force. He retired as MSgt on September 1, 1974. After retiring from the military, David worked in Saudi Arabia from 1979 until 1986. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. David is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Alma I. Miller of Albuquerque; three children, daughter, Beverly A. Tucker of Austin, TX, son, David A. Miller Jr. and wife, Christina, and step-daughter, Michelle of San Diego, CA, and daughter, Dorothy L. Jones and husband, Ellis of Arlington, VA; two granddaughters, Ayesha King and Toliah deWeever, both of Arlington, VA; two grandsons, Steven Edward and Timothy David of San Diego, CA; six great-grandchildren; one brother Alfred Miller; a host of relatives; and special friends. Montoya -- Stella Montoya, 79, went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born on March 22, 1922 in Madrid, NM. Mrs. Montoya is preceded in death by her daughter Mary Montoya, son, Martin Montoya; and sister, Arnulfa Aguilar. She is survived by her husband, Harry Montoya of Bernalillo, NM; four sons, Robert Montoya and wife, Ann, David Montoya and wife, Theresa, Albert Montoya and wife, Kim and Anthony Sandoval and wife, Linda; four daughters, Harriet Goddard and husband, Bill, Gloria Montoya, Betty Montoya and Christine Imperial; one brother, John Perea; four grandchildren that she raised Robert Gutierrez, Carlos Imperial, Frankie Imperial and Mia Imperial; 29 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. Stella will be deeply missed by her loving family. A Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday also at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery in Bernallilo. Nixon -- Jackie Laverne Nixon, age 66, died Sunday, March 17, 2002 after a long illness at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. She was a resident of Las Cruces, NM. Jackie was born on August 2, 1935 to Ruby and John D. Herrin in Stephenville, TX. She married Harold B. Nixon in Fort Worth, TX on January 16, 1960 they moved to Las Cruces, NM after being married. Jackie owned and operated Tommy's Roller Rink for many years and was a real estate broker. She was active in University Church of Christ, Las Cruces prior to her illness. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Harold B. Nixon, Albuquerque; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mike Provine of Albuquerque; sister, Lois Paschal of Las Cruces, NM; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bill Powell of Georgetown, TX; brother, Bill Herrin of Granbury, TX; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Norma Nell; and a brother, Johnny Herrin. Pino -- Gabrielita Pino, 87, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on March 19, 2002. She was born in Anton Chico, NM on March 8, 1915. Ms. Pino was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Pino in 1994; and son, David Pino in June of 1999. She is survived by one son, Nicholas Pino and wife, Juanita; one daughter, Cruzita Clark and husband, Robert; daughter-in-law, Celina Pino; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Poston -- Vernon Ray Poston, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, passed away, Monday, March 18, 2002. Schwarm -- Margaret Frankel Schwarm passed away March 13, 2002. A 13 year resident of Albuquerque, she was born in New York City on April 23, 1919, daughter of Michael Frankel and Ellen Kiss Frankel. Although a native of New York, she embraced the Southwest. A graduate of Farmingdale Institute of Technology in New York, she received her Associate Degree in Business Administration. Margaret was a former Docent at the Pueblo Indian Museum. She was a member of the Rock Hound Society, and a docent at the Albuquerque Zoo. She ran the Seniors Group at Christ Unity Church; was very involved in the Senior Peer Counseling Group and was a long-term member of the Swendenborg Society. She was also a Minister in the Universal Life Church. Margaret was on a lifelong spiritual journey trained in the Pathwork process. She is survived by her son, William M. Schwarm of Woodside, NY; nieces, Pamela Healey of California, and Mrs. Ellen Mohrman of New York; and nephew, Steven Phillips of New York. Her family and friends deeply miss her. Sullivan -- John L Sullivan, 54, Christian and Longtime resident and businessman of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2002. He is survived by his loving mother, Wanda Sullivan Palmer of Albuquerque and by his children whom he was extremely proud of and loved more than life; son, John R. Sullivan of Albuquerque; daughters, Stacey Sullivan and Rachel Trujillo, of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Audrey; brothers, Bruce Sullivan of Albuquerque and Donald Sullivan of Palm Desert, CA,; sisters, Kathleen Burton of Tucumcari, NM, Lynette Sullivan and Susan Sullivan, both of Albuquerque; uncle, Bruce Cromer of El Paso, TX and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, in 1969, his brother, Joseph Jr., in 1970 and his sister, Lynn, in 1989. John was born in Silver City, NM on August 30, 1947 to Joseph and Wanda Sullivan. After graduating from Manzano High School, in 1965, John served in Vietnam aboard the same ship with his now deceased brother, Joe. He owned and operated Sullivan Construction since 1970 and Albuquerque Stair and Wood Turnings since 1977. He was a very active member and served on the Board of Directors of the Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico. John also served on the TVI Carpentry Advisory Board. John devoted his life to caring for his family and friends and will be greatly missed by those whose life he has touched. Services will be held Friday, March 22, 2002, 1:00 pm, at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna, NE with Pastor C.B. Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Zellner -- H. Wade Zellner III died March 18, 2002 at age 58.
