Obituary for Nixon

Jackie Laverne Nixon, age 66, died Sunday, March 17, 2002 after a long illness at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. She was a resident of Las Cruces, NM. Jackie was born on August 2, 1935 to Ruby and John D. Herrin in Stephenville, TX. She married Harold B. Nixon in Fort Worth, TX on January 16, 1960 they moved to Las Cruces, NM after being married. Jackie owned and operated Tommy's Roller Rink for many years and was a real estate broker. She was active in University Church of Christ, Las Cruces prior to her illness. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Harold B. Nixon, Albuquerque; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mike Provine of Albuquerque; sister, Lois Paschal of Las Cruces, NM; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bill Powell of Georgetown, TX; brother, Bill Herrin of Granbury, TX; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Norma Nell; and a brother, Johnny Herrin. Services will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel in Stephenville, TX at 2:00 p.m., Bill Powell officiating. Burial will take place at West End Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the University Church of Christ in Las Cruces, NM.
