Salazar -- On the feast day of our Lord Jesus Christ, Sunday, July 15, 2001, at the age of 81, Virginia Salazar completed the final portion of her earthly life, entering into the splendor and glory of eternal life in the fullness of Holy Communion with our Lord Jesus Christ, The Most Holy Trinity, The Angels, and all the Saints in the Body of Christ, journeying home in the arms and loving care of Our Blessed Mother Mary at the Angelic Choirs and the Heavenly Host sang and rejoiced in her long awaited coming. Praised be God most high!! Virginia's journey began long before her birth on October 25, 1919. Chosen by God and united with Jesus on the cross, she courageously accepted a life of profound suffering and hardship through devastating illness which greatly affected her ability to communicate, to participate with others, to experience daily life in the manner which we so often take for granted. She was endowed with two very special and precious gifts: the ability to truly love as God loves, especially the many children in her life, where even the youngest recognized and understood that precious and unconditional Love from her heart. She was gifted with a great and enduring pure faith, manifested by her love for prayer as she prayed the Rosary openly and with much devotion many times daily, alone and with others, setting a fine example for all of us who have had the opportunity to know and love her. Born in 1919 to Eliseo Salazar and Carlota Chavez Salazar she lived in Tome and Albuquerque all her life, the oldest of eight children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Alberto and Antonio; and her sister, Fedelina Baca. She is survived by her sister, Faustina Jones, husband, Bill and their two children, Florela (Flora) Atler, husband, Robert (Dutch), now deceased and their ten children; her brother, Antonio's wife, Ernestine and their nine children; her sister, Fedilina's husband, Eloy and their five children; her sister, Elfides Salazar and her sister, Evangeline (Eva) Gutierrez, husband, Christopher and their two children; many other relatives; and a close friend, Linda Straw. Virginia lived long, laughed much, loved much and forgave always, in truth, goodness, humility and obedience to God. Can there be a better epitaph for such a great woman? The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2001 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, New Mexico with the burial immediately following in the Tome Catholic Cemetery.
