Obituary for Thomas

Velma Thomas, 74, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2001. Velma was born April 10, 1927 in Cheraw, Colorado. She was raised on a farm in southeastern Colorado and graduated from Cheraw High School in 1945. She was one of five children, all of whom have preceded her in death. Velma and Harold moved to Albuquerque in 1951 from La Junta, Colorado when Harold was employed by Sandia Labs. Velma is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harold Thomas of Albuquerque; daughter, Vickie Rogers of Albuquerque; grandson, Michael Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Hunter; brother-in-law, Elton Thomas and wife, Gale of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Velma was a loving, caring mother, grandma, and great-grandma. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.)
