Aitson -- Doris Aitson, our beloved mother and friend, made her transition to the spirit world on March 12, 2001. Doris died after a brief illness at her home in Albuquerque NM. Her husband, Marlin Aitson, of Mountain View, OK, preceded Doris in death. Doris is survived by her daughters, Patty Aitson of Richardson, TX and Clarice Roy and her husband, Scott of Ft. Worth, TX. Doris was born in Crystal, NM on March 15, 1934 and attended the Rehoboth Schools and graduated from Calvin College. Doris was an educator in the Gallup McKinley County Schools for 31 years after a short stint at the Rehoboth Schools. After retiring from the Gallup system,, Doris worked for five years at the Zia School District and three years at the Acoma Sky City Community School. While in Gallup, Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church, Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial Association, ADK, PEO and KKI organizations. While in Albuquerque, Doris volunteered fro the New Mexico Aids Services and was a member of the Kiwanis organization. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 1800 Red Rock Dr., Gallup, NM. Followed by a reception at The Inn. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the New Mexico Aids Service, 625 Truman NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110-6472.

Aragon -- Evaristo Aragon, age 86, beloved father, grandfather and brother was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 13, 2001. Mr. Aragon was a resident of Bernalillo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erlinda, a son, Roger, and a daughter, Selma (Sally). He is survived by his loving children, Rose Diaz and husband, Willie Diaz, Felipe Aragon and wife, Mary Ann, Bernardo Aragon and wife, Lucy, Joe Aragon and wife, Diana, Manuel Aragon and wife, Mary Ann, Ramon Aragon and wife, Goretti all of Bernalillo, Enrique Aragon and wife, Genova of Corrales, Orlando Aragon and wife, Rose of Rio Rancho; a daughter-in-law, Beatrice Aragon of Alameda; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Tomasita Garcia of Bernalillo; one brother, Patricio Aragon of Alamagordo; three sisters-in-law, Sadie, Dora both of Bernalillo, Gabina of Alamagordo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be today from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. also at the church, with the Reverend Virgil Furfaro as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Platcitas Catholic Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Julio Aragon, Paul Philip Aragon, Paul Robert Aragon, Reno Aragon, Raul Aragon, Raymond Aragon, Michael Aragon and Alex Chavez. Black -- Otilia (Tillie) M. Black, 64, a resident of Albuquerque for 12 years, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Santiago (Jim) Black of Albuquerque; sons, Mark Black and wife, Barbara of San Antonio, TX, and Matthew Black of Albuquerque; grandson, Joshua Black of San Antonio, TX; brother, Tony Vasquez of San Antonio; and aunts, Delfina Baladez and Wilhemina Vasquez, both of San Antonio, TX. Mrs. Black was an active member and past president of the University Hospital Service League. She was also active with developing the Milagro Program at UNM Hospital. Mrs. Black was a member of San Felipe de Neri Church where she served as a reader and greeter. Rosary will be recited Friday, March 16, 2001, 7:00 p.m., at San Felipe de Neri Church, 2005 Plaza NW, Old Town, with Deacon Bob Lewis reciting. Brown -- Eva G. Brown, 84, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and resident of Albuquerque since 1933, died Sunday, March 11, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joseph H. Brown; sons, Bill Logsdon, Roy Logsdon and Clifford Dale Logsdon, all of Albuquerque and Robert Brown of Chandler, AZ; daughters, Mae Current of California and Joyce Vanderleest of Marina, CA, Ruby Hamilton of Phoenix, AZ and Rosie Scott of Albuquerque; and 105 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Buttke -- Allen K. Buttke, 71, a loving husband and devoted father, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Harriet Buttke and two brothers, Harold Buttke and Eddie Buttke. Al is survived by his wife of 41 years, Warnell (Ruby) Buttke; one son, Allen F. Buttke and wife, Rene, of Edgewood; four daughters, Linda K. Buttke, of Los Lunas, Patricia Kemp and husband, Lee of Albuquerque, Wanda Kemp of Albuquerque, Sue Lovett and husband, Billy of Edgewood; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Copet of Marshfield, WI; brother, Carl Buttke of Alabama. Al was born and raised in Marshfield, WI. He retired after serving 21 years with the U.S. Air Force. Al was a life member of American Legion Post 99, the Stievos, 40/ 8 Voiturr 1534 and VFW Post 401. He served as a Commander of Post 99 and as a Department Commander for New Mexico. His most recent appointment was Programs Director for the American Legion Department of NM, which he held for 21 years. He was a member of the National Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission in Washington, DC for 15 years. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the SICU staff at the VA Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2001 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. A Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2001 at the American Legion Post 49, 11007 Central NE. Pallbearers are Ralph Kemp, RJ. Cole -- Stephanie Ann Cole, age 23, beloved daughter and sister passed on March 12, 2001. She is survived by her parents, Barbara and W. Dwight Cole; her brother, Jason John Cole; her sister, Amy Marie Markham and husband, Jeff Markham; and her maternal grandmother, Mary C. Savage all of Albuquerque. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Stephanie graduated from Eldorado High School in 1997. There, as co-captain of the drill team, she loved to show off her passion for dance. She recently graduated from DeWolffe's School of Cosmetology and had just began her career. Coplen -- Jessie Elizabeth Coplen, 105, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2001 in Socorro, NM. She was born November 3, 1895 to Herman and Anna (Zirbel) Vitense in Mazomanie, WI. She moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1923 with her husband, Arthur Thompson, who passed away in 1933. She married Walter Coplen in 1946. She was a long time and very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. She had many friends and charmed all that met her. She enjoyed gardening, reading and in later years, traveling. She is preceded by her husband, Walter and step-son, Frank Coplen. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Stanton and husband, Arthur of Socorro; step-daughter, Elsie Cook and husband, Carl of Albuquerque and Lois Leese of Farmington, NM; step-daughter-in-law, Adele Coplen of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Ann Stanton and husband, David Connor of Montpelier, UT, Tom Stanton and wife, Mary of Socorro, Bob Coplen and wife, Charlene of Belen, NM, Richard Coplen of Albuquerque, and Doug Coplen and Ellen Johnson of Washington, DC; seven great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephew. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque with Rev. Myron White and Rev. Phil Preston officiating. Cornell -- Murray J. Cornell, age 89, passed away on March 13, 2001 after an accident in his home in Denver CO. He had been a resident of Albuquerque and Santa Fe since 1936. He and his brothers Abraham B. Cohen and Walter E. Cohen were the founders of Pay Less Drug Store, Inc. They were pioneers of the concept of self-service discount department-drug stores. Walter joined Murray and Abraham in the Pay Less business after his service in World War II aboard a hospital ship. When Pay Less Drugs merged with the nationwide Walgreen Drug Co., Murray returned to Denver, CO where he owned and operated Cornell Prescription Pharmacies. Murray retired in 1992. He continued to supervise his properties in Santa Fe. Murray is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Rochelle Cornell of Albuquerque; one son, Dr. Lanny Cornell and his wife, Catherine of El Cajon, CA; three granddaughters, Deborah Jean Davis and her husband, John of Albuquerque, Lannette Rochelle Bloom and her husband, Todd of La Jolla, CA, Kendall Lynne Dann and her husband, Scott of El Cajon, CA; two great-granddaughters, Alesse Bloom, Melissa Bloom; one great-grandson, David Louis Dann; one sister, Zelda Gutman of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Abraham and Walter Cohen, two sisters, Rita Feldman of Detroit and Elsie Katz of Albuquerque. Crawley -- Thomas Victor Crawley, III, 52, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died on Monday, March 12, 2001. Thomas is survived by his mother, Florence of Albuquerque; son, Thomas Victor Crawley, IV of Albuquerque; brothers, Joseph Michael Crawley of Albuquerque and Jerald Mathew of Flagstaff, AZ; and long term friend and companion, Gloria Kriegshauser of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Victor Crawley, Jr. in 1999. Thomas was a member of the Local Musicians Union and a Life Master in the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League). He attended Sandia High School, was an All American Diver (springboard) at Sandia and attended UNM following graduation. Howles -- Robert D. Howles a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on March 13, 2001. He attended Paradise Hills Methodist Church and prior to retirement he worked as an auto mechanic for Price's Dairy. Robert was a football fan, very passionate about Indian and Harley Davidson motorcycles, and cars. his true pride and joy came from his grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte and his daughter, Theresa. He is survived by his children, Robert M. and wife, Sandra of PA, Ritchie and partner, Barbara of Rio Rancho, Toni Miller and husband, Greg of Peralta, NM; sister, Florence Blanchard of FL; brother, Lewis of PA; his grandchildren, Angela, Robert, Daniel, Justin, Chris, Kendra, Lucas; and one great-granddaughter, Tyler. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. Cremation has taken place, and interment will follow at a later date in Corey, PA. Pinkard -- Paulette"Polly" J. Pinkard, 58, a resident of Albuquerque for two years, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth M. Pinkard; daughter, Laura Todd and husband, Gregg of Jacksonville, AR; son, James Pinkard of San Antonio, TX; mother, Julia Johnson of Virginia, MN; sisters, Penny Harrington of Virginia, MN and Rae Lange of Memphis,TN. Polly was a devoted and loving wife and mother and a very loyal friend. Always remember she lived a full and happy life. She was always true to herself and true to others. She worked for the US Air Force for 18 years. Polly was a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers and a member of the Association of Government Accountants. She loved to fly and was both a Commercial and Instructor pilot. She completed Air War College and was actively enrolled in the DLAMP program. Romero -- Mela Romero, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for over 24 years, died Saturday, March 10, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Arthur Romero and wife, Virginia of Belen, Charles Romero of Glendale, CA, and Gene Romero and wife, Shirley of Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; and special nieces and nephew and good friends, Celia, Peggy and Mike. She was preceded in death by husband, Nash Romero in 1978 and her parents, Juan Martinez and Piedad Otero. Mela was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Smith -- Richard Britt Smith, 81, a resident of Albuquerque for 14 years, died on Monday, March 12, 2001. Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Robbie Smith; daughter, Skylar Smith of Reston, VA; son, Mark Smith of Orange County, CA. He was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Smith in 1966. Richard retired from the Securities and Exchange Commission in January of 1986. He then moved to Albuquerque the following year where he resided with his wife. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2001, at St. Johnťs Episcopal Cathedral, 4th & Silver SW. Webb -- Orval Webb, a resident of Albuquerque since 1937, died Monday, March 12, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita L. Webb of the family home; sons, Ed Webb and wife, Patricia of Albuquerque and Victor (Bobby) Webb and wife, Jeannie of Peralta; daughter, Jeanie Fishel and husband, Bob of Glenmoore, PA; seven grandchildren, Mike Webb, Robbie Webb, Shauna Schroeder, Erik Fishel, Leslie Fishel, Robert Webb, Patrick Webb; four great-grandchildren, Austin Webb, Trent Webb, Hannah Schroeder, Nicole Webb; sister, Joyce Pittmon and husband, Morris of Silom Springs, AR. Orval was born on February 1, 1917 in Olustee, OK to Alanzo Grey Webb and Mattie Estelle DeShazo Webb. the family lived in Reed, OK where Orval attended school at Jay Buckle Springs Schoolhouse. They later lived in Wellington, TX, Lone Rock, AR and Willo Springs, MO. He moved to Albuquerque in 1937. He worked leveling land, and later drove a truck for Works Market. On July 13, 1940 he married Juanita Wiley and they farmed in Willard, NM and Herford, TX. They returned to Albuquerque in 1946 where he worked for J.W. Jones Construction, Allison & Haney Construction and Hydro Conduet Corporation until May of 1974, when he was forced to retire because of heart problems. Orval loved to fish, and as health permitted, he spent many winters in San Carlos, Mexico fishing from his tin boat. Services will be held, Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor David Morgan. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Mike Webb, Robbie Webb, Robert Webb, Erik Fishel, Dan Schroeder and Jerry Wiley.
