Obituary for Webb

Orval Webb, a resident of Albuquerque since 1937, died Monday, March 12, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita L. Webb of the family home; sons, Ed Webb and wife, Patricia of Albuquerque and Victor (Bobby) Webb and wife, Jeannie of Peralta; daughter, Jeanie Fishel and husband, Bob of Glenmoore, PA; seven grandchildren, Mike Webb, Robbie Webb, Shauna Schroeder, Erik Fishel, Leslie Fishel, Robert Webb, Patrick Webb; four great-grandchildren, Austin Webb, Trent Webb, Hannah Schroeder, Nicole Webb; sister, Joyce Pittmon and husband, Morris of Silom Springs, AR. Orval was born on February 1, 1917 in Olustee, OK to Alanzo Grey Webb and Mattie Estelle DeShazo Webb. the family lived in Reed, OK where Orval attended school at Jay Buckle Springs Schoolhouse. They later lived in Wellington, TX, Lone Rock, AR and Willo Springs, MO. He moved to Albuquerque in 1937. He worked leveling land, and later drove a truck for Works Market. On July 13, 1940 he married Juanita Wiley and they farmed in Willard, NM and Herford, TX. They returned to Albuquerque in 1946 where he worked for J.W. Jones Construction, Allison & Haney Construction and Hydro Conduet Corporation until May of 1974, when he was forced to retire because of heart problems. Orval loved to fish, and as health permitted, he spent many winters in San Carlos, Mexico fishing from his tin boat. Services will be held, Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor David Morgan. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Mike Webb, Robbie Webb, Robert Webb, Erik Fishel, Dan Schroeder and Jerry Wiley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Patrick Webb and Leon Wiley. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, 12:00 noon until service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Valley Christian Church, 2850 Gun Club Rd. SW, 87105 or Presbyterian Hospice, 8300 Constitution NE, 87110.
