Obituary for Aitson

Doris Aitson, our beloved mother and friend, made her transition to the spirit world on March 12, 2001. Doris died after a brief illness at her home in Albuquerque NM. Her husband, Marlin Aitson, of Mountain View, OK, preceded Doris in death. Doris is survived by her daughters, Patty Aitson of Richardson, TX and Clarice Roy and her husband, Scott of Ft. Worth, TX. Doris was born in Crystal, NM on March 15, 1934 and attended the Rehoboth Schools and graduated from Calvin College. Doris was an educator in the Gallup McKinley County Schools for 31 years after a short stint at the Rehoboth Schools. After retiring from the Gallup system,, Doris worked for five years at the Zia School District and three years at the Acoma Sky City Community School. While in Gallup, Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church, Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial Association, ADK, PEO and KKI organizations. While in Albuquerque, Doris volunteered fro the New Mexico Aids Services and was a member of the Kiwanis organization. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 1800 Red Rock Dr., Gallup, NM. Followed by a reception at The Inn. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the New Mexico Aids Service, 625 Truman NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110-6472.
