Acosta -- Anthony Ray (Tony) Acosta, 30, was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Thursday, December 7, 2000. Tony was born on December 20, 1969 in Albuquerque to Rudy and Petra Acosta. He was the youngest of seven children. He leaves behind his fiance, Genevieve; and three sons, James, Patrick, and Anthony Jr. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Frank Acosta and wife, Anna, Patsy Reed and husband, Mike, Raymond Acosta and wife, Irene, George Acosta and wife, Jennifer, Leroy Acosta and his children, Joann Acosta and children; 18 nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends. Visitations will be today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited this evening at 6:00 p.m. at San Ysidro Church in Corrales. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at the Corrales Cemetery. Casket bearers will be James Chavez, Daniel Acosta, Amber Reed, Sean Acosta, George Acosta Jr., Leroy Acosta Jr. and Francesca Gonzales. Adkins -- Colonel William H."Speed" Adkins (U.S.A.F. Ret.), 88, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann Lee Adkins of Albuquerque; daughters, Ann A. Dye and husband, Skip of Annandale, VA and Mary A. Erwin and husband, Greg of Houston, TX; and sister, Marjorie Wiggins of White Rock, SC. Colonel Adkins received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. After retiring from the Air Force in 1965, Colonel Adkins managed the Kirtland Air Force Base Credit Union until his retirement in 1978. An avid supporter of collegiate golf, Speed was active as scorer for the UNM McGuire and Tucker Tournaments for over 30 years. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, December 11, at 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment of cremains will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Barnash -- Katherine Houg Barnash, 81, died on December 7, 2000. She was born in Ladysmith, WI, attended undergraduate schools in Wisconsin, and received her graduate degrees from the University of Arkansas, thereafter teaching in Colleges and Universities in Arkansas, Wisconsin and Minnesota. She and Stanley Barnash, deceased, were married and lived in Minneapolis, MN until they retired and moved to Albuquerque in 1970. She is survived by her step-son, Jay B. Davis and family, of Juneau, Alaska; and by many nieces and nephews. Cremation will take place and her ashes will repose in Santa Fe National Cemetery. At her request, there will be no services. Donations in memory of Katherine may be made to the Anna Kaseman Hospice Unit, Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital, 8300 Constitution NE, 87110. Damian -- Damian I. Martinez, 66, died Thursday, December 7, 2000 in Albuquerque following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Visitation will resume at 7:30 p.m. this evening at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be recited at 8:00 PM this evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11th at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church, with his nephew, Fr. Jerome Martinez as celebrant. Interment with full military honors will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. His family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to cancer research. Lopez -- Mrs. Rose Lopez died Friday in Albuquerque at the age of 67. Rose was born on August 20, 1933. Rose was a member of Christ is Lord Church. She is survived by her husband, Saturaino (Chato) Lucero; her children, Joe Elycio and wife, Dorothy, Fabian Lopez and wife, Margarete, Geraldine Lucero and husband, Joe, Yvette Lopez, Louann Rivera and husband, Frank; her sister, Pauline Lovato; her grandchildren, Jerome Elycio, Jonathan and Valerie Elycio, John Lucero, Arthur and Katrina Lucero, Crystal Elycio, Mariah Chavez, Irene Rivera; and great-grandchildren, Andrew Lucero and Alexis Alycio. Oberdorfer -- William M. (Bill), 79, died at home Friday, December 8, 2000, surrounded by his family. He was born November 4, 1921 in S. India to Harriet Stimmel and Carl Oberdorfer who were serving as Lutheran missionaries. He married Ruth Disbro in 1946 and returned to India where he pursued missionary work for another thirteen years. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1959, he began the second phase of his career life in construction supervision, acoustic design and architecture. HE worked with Krueger, Lake, Hutchinson and Brown here in Albuquerque from 1979 until his retirement. He then volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Master Gardeners, Literacy Volunteers of America and tutoring in the public schools. He was an avid learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. He knew eight languages, had a private pilot's license, loved music and fishing, but could never be accused of depleting a river of fish. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 1984; a brother, Luther; and a sister, Ruth. He is survived by his five children, David and wife, Rene of Leawood, KS, Linda Ross and husband, Jim of Santa Fe, Becky Wittenburg and husband, Rich of Albuquerque, Bob and wife, Linda of Albuquerque, Cheri Stromberg and husband, Jim of Albuquerque; and 15 grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Verner and husband, Hugh of Montreat, NC; brother, Don Oberdorfer and wife, Betchen of Roseville, MN; sister-in-law, Better Oberdorfer of Akron, OH; and many nieces, nephews, friends and"sisters and his cousins whom he reckoned up by dozens and his aunts." (Apologies to Gilbert and Sullivan, whom he loved.) Memorial service to be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2000 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6901 Wyoming NE. Olson -- Kenneth L. Olson, 75, a resident of Corrales, NM for the past six years, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2000. Kenneth was born August 5, 1925 in Lake Forest, Illinois, the son of John A. and Gunhilde J. Edmonds Olson. He had been a Marketing Manager for Texaco Inc. for 33 years before retiring. Kenneth was a member of the Colorado and New Mexico Gun Collectors, a 32nd Degree Mason in Crestwood, MO, a member of the Moolah Shrine Temple in St. Louis, MO, Life member of the V.F.W. in Holland, MI, member of S.A.C. (Stand Around Club) of Afton, MO. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice of the family home; five children, Vicki Haupt and husband, Randy of St. Louis, MO, Christopher Olson and wife, Marlene of Parker, CO, Jeffrey Olson and wife, Haley of Rogers, AR, Judy Davison and husband, Rick of Aubrey, TX, and Lisa Olson of Aurora, CO; one sister, Marilyn Hilligoss of Villa Grove, IL; and two grandchildren, Becki and Richard Haupt. Pata -- Adrienne Pata, 65, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 7, 2000. She is survived by her son, John Pata of Albuquerque; stepdaughters, Dianne Kreutzer of Chula Vista, CA, and Sheila Northway and husband, Terry of Santa Fe, NM; stepson, Steve Pata and wife, Laurie of Walnut, CA; grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, Rebekah, Michael, Sarah, Joshua, and Luke; brother, Charles McLean and wife, Clara of Sarasota, FL; and sister, Doreen Moses and husband, Bill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Pata in 1999. Mrs. Pata retired as a master teacher from Grants Cibola County schools in August. She was loved by many. Shupp -- Charles Albert,"Pete", age 86, formerly of Albuquerque and Dayton, OH, died Saturday, December 9, 2000. He was employed at the Blommel Sign Co. in Dayton before relocating to Albuquerque in 1949 where he established the Pete Shupp Sign Co. He was a U.S.A.F. WWII veteran. Preceded in death by brother, Robert and Richard Shupp. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Marie (Carter) Shupp; sister, Frances May and husband, James Turner of Huber Heights; niece, Darlene Marie Turner of Zanesville, OH; nephew, Gary Lee and wife, Carol Turner of Dayton. Vigil -- Rosina O. Vigil, 71, a resident of Grants, NM since 1960, died Thursday, December 7, 2000 in Albuquerque. Rosina was born December 28, 1928 the daughter of Abalino and Adela Marie Lopez Ortiz in Santa Fe, NM. she was preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo Vigil in 1991, and her son, Wilfred Trujillo in 1982. Rosina is survived by two sons, Richard O. Vigil and Johnny D. Vigil of Grants; four daughters, Patricia V. Sena and Gloria A. Vigil of Albuquerque, and Virginia Salazar and Denise Salazar of Grants; her brother, Francisco A. Ortiz of Chimayo; 12 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. A rosary for Mrs. Vigil will be recited on Sunday, December 10, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Vittitoe -- Mary Ann Vittitoe, age 66, and a resident of Albuquerque for 34 years, died in her sleep on Saturday, December 9, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Charles Vittitoe; two daughters, Dorothy Ripley and her husband, Paul, and Victoria Keith and her husband, Stan; four grandchildren, Garrett Keith, Kayla Ripley, Christian Keith, and Kira Ripley; and one sister, Caroline Aldridge all of Albuquerque. Mrs. Vittitoe had taught High School, Sunday School and Nursery School prior to the ten years she spent with the A.I.S.E. Foreign Student Program serving as the New Mexico Director. She also received considerable praise for her family Christmas letters that were enjoyed by many. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE with pastor Larry Pierson officiating.
