Obituary for Adkins

Colonel William H."Speed" Adkins (U.S.A.F. Ret.), 88, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann Lee Adkins of Albuquerque; daughters, Ann A. Dye and husband, Skip of Annandale, VA and Mary A. Erwin and husband, Greg of Houston, TX; and sister, Marjorie Wiggins of White Rock, SC. Colonel Adkins received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. After retiring from the Air Force in 1965, Colonel Adkins managed the Kirtland Air Force Base Credit Union until his retirement in 1978. An avid supporter of collegiate golf, Speed was active as scorer for the UNM McGuire and Tucker Tournaments for over 30 years. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, December 11, at 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment of cremains will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Sunday, December 10, 2000, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
