Carson -- Sandra L. Carson, 45, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, April 20, 2000. She is survived by her brother, John Carson of Albuquerque; and close friends and care givers, Robert Spears, Sr. and Lawanda Owens. Ms. Carson was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Myrtice; and brother, William. She was born and raised in Amarillo, TX. Ms. Carson worked at Presbyterian Hospital for 17 years as a telecommunications operator. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Monday, 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Daffer -- Lee Zito Daffer, 88, died Saturday, April 22, 2000 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Peter G. Daffer; four children, Peter Z. Daffer and wife, Merete of Perry, GA, twins, Jon Daffer and Joline Mahr and her husband, Ed, all of Albuquerque and Stephanie Daffer and husband, Bob Michels of San Francisco, CA; four granddaughters, Jonna Schuler of Houston, TX, Sonja Daffer and Amy and Kristin Mahr, all of Albuquerque; and her beloved sister, Mary Armstrong and husband, Glenn of Albuquerque. A native of Albuquerque, Lee was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. She was a devout Catholic whose life centered on her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her Church. A shy and reserved lady, she was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and an engaging way with children. Lee's home was always filled with love, hospitality and the tempting aroma of a delicious meal spiced with Italian wit and lots of conversation. She was a valued partner to her husband in their retail liquor business. She will, indeed, be deeply missed. The family is immensely grateful to the dedicated team of caregivers whose valuable skills and loving attention allowed Lee to remain at home. Special thanks go to dear friend, Claire Cole; caregivers Sonia Manning and Tommy Carrion, Dr. David Ewing and Delores Pederson. Rosary will be recited Monday at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper NW. Dennis -- Easter J. Dennis July 10, 1919-April 20, 2000 Mrs. Easter J. Dennis, 80, passed away Thursday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Dennis in 1996. She had been a resident of Albuquerque for 56 years and of Moriarty for the past six months. She was a member of the Fruit Ave. Baptist Church since 1964 and most recently a member of the First Baptist Church of Moriarty. Mrs. Dennis is survived by her son, Roy G. Dennis and his wife, Connie of Moriarty; daughter, Lavonne Hext and her husband, Butch of Albuquerque; sister, Bonnie Roberts of Sudan, Texas; grandchildren, Clay Hext of Albuquerque and Rodney Hext of Arlington, Texas; step-grandchildren Andrea Mungle of Seattle and Elizabeth Mungle of Moriarty; several nieces and nephews and others that Mrs. Dennis claimed as her kids. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Highland Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth Long officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Ettlinger -- Beloved and devoted husband, father, zadie, brother and uncle, Walter I. Ettlinger passed away on Friday, April 21, 2000. Born in Frankfurt Au Main, Germany on October 14, 1914. Marshall -- Ralph R. Marshall, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949 went to be with his Lord on Easter Sunday. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Elaine; son, Randy and his wife, Mary, children, Conner, Stephen, Matthew and Alison of Albuquerque; daughter, Carol Taylor and husband, Larry, children, Spencer and Kathryn; daughter, Sara Early and husband, Greg, children, Seth and Callie. Ralph served in the US Marines in World War II in the South Pacific and China. He served as Executive Director of the New Mexico Medical Society for 39 years, also was secretary and on Board of Directors, New Mexico Physician Mutual Liability Company, New Mexico Foundation for Medical Care, New Mexico Medical Review Association. He received the AMA Citation for Distinguished Service to the medical profession. He was an honorary member of the New Mexico Medical Society and Past Presidents Club. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of Albuquerque Rotary Club, recipient of the Community Service Award by the National Kidney Foundation of New Mexico in 1990, Albuquerque Racing Pigeon Association. Mead -- Robert G. Mead, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died on Saturday, April 22, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Eileen E. Mead of the family home; sons, Robert G. Mead of Albuquerque and Dean Mead and wife, Brandi of Arlington, TX; and daughter, Melanie Mead of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Morgan, Brier and Christopher Mead; brother, Dean Mead; sister, Dorothy Smith, both of Animosa, Iowa; brother-in-law, Dr. Llewlyn E. Lujan of Rio Rancho, NM; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Mead was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. He retired as the New Mexico marketing manager for U.S. West where he worked for 31 years. Mr. Mead served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as Chief Pharmacist's Mate. Moutray -- Hugh M. Moutray, 88, of Westridge Road, Carlsbad, NM passed away Saturday, April 22, 2000 at Landsun Homes, Inc. He was born on May 10, 1911 in El Campo, TX to James G. and Maud Belle Moutray. He grew up in the El Paso valley, graduating from Valley High School in Anthony, NM in 1929. Afterwards, he attended New Mexico A&M in Las Cruces for a short time. With money being scarce, he then went to work for the Texas State Highway Dept., driving a dump truck during the construction of the first paved highway between El Paso and Carlsbad. In 1930, during his trips to Eddy County, he ran across 328 acres of prime farmland between Carlsbad and Artesia. In 1931, his father, James G. Moutray and brother, Jim B Moutray joined in partnership with Hugh to create J.G. Moutray and Sons at Seven Rivers. He married Willo Dean Heston in Carlsbad on June 18, 1937. His father passed away in 1939 after which he and Jim B formed Moutray Brothers, Inc. He and his family made significant investments in this area including an expansion of their operations into ranching and crop dusting. In 1954, they took their crop dusters to Managua, Nicaragua. Hugh was later honored by being appointed Vice Counsel to Nicaragua, a decision which was made by both presidents, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Anastacio Samosa of Nicaragua. In 1948, he and his friends chartered the People's State Bank in Artesic, later becoming Western Bank. In a separate venture in 1974, he joined Bank Securities, Inc., a bank holding company which later became United New Mexico, which in turn, sold to Norwest in 1994. His brother retired in 1971 and Hugh retired in 1978. Hugh was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He served on many boards including the Administrative Board. He also served on the board for Landsun Homes, Inc. in its early years. He served on the Investment Council for the State of New Mexico under Governor Bruce King. He had three distinct hobbies: cars, airplanes and work. His love of flying meant logging thousand of hours with over 10,000 hours in V-tailed Bonanzas. He was dedicated to his family, always showing much love and care through the years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim B in 1982; and two sister, Mrs. Hope Mashaw and Mrs. B. C. Graham. He is survived by his spouse, Willo Dean Moutray of Carlsbad, NM; one son, H. Gil Moutray and wife, Vicki of Carlsbad; two daughters, Dona Kippenberger of Thomas, OK and Barbara Rickert of Dallas, TX; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, April 25, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Joe Wood of First United Methodist Church of Carlsbad and Dr. Charles Crutchfield of Central United Methodist Church of Albuquerque officiating. A private family Interment will take place on Monday, April 24, 2000. Memorial contributions may be made to Carlsbad Foundation where a fund for the First United Methodist Church and Landsun Homes will be established in honor of Hugh M. Moutray. Seckler -- Betty Seckler, 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, was called home to be with her Lord on Good Friday, April 21, 2000. She is survived by her sister, Ann Linz and husband, Adolf of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Hannah Dettweiler of Gabriola, British Colombia, Canada; many nieces and nephews in Canada and German and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Henry Seckler in 1993. Betty was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was a very special person to her sister and will be greatly missed. Solon -- Art Solon, 50, was born in Rapid City, SD, July 6, 1949. A resident of New Mexico since 1966, Mr. Solon died Monday, April 17, 2000. He is survived by his mother, Joan Solon of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Michael Solon; daughter, Emma Blair Solon; former spouse, Brett G. Solon, all of Albuquerque; brothers and sisters, David Solon and wife, Connie of Colorado Springs, CO, Mary Jo Solon and husband, Will Gooden of Las Cruces, James Solon and wife, Elizabeth of Pasadena, CA, Paul Solon and wife, Ann Laurenson of San Francisco, CA, Susan Solon Emmons and husband, Michael Emmons of Pueblo, CO, and Katie Solon-Halbach and husband, Andreas Halbach of Vienna, Austria; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mr. Solon was preceded in death by his father, Pat Solon, and brother, Michael Solon. He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1967. He attended Notre Dame University and played baseball as an undergraduate. Mr. Solon graduated from UNM and the UNM Law School, and practiced law in Albuquerque, NM for many years. He was a loyal supporter of Notre Dame football (Go Irish), as well as an active supporter of Lobo football and basketball. A former American Legion third baseman, Mr. Solon coached his son's little league teams. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE. with Father Vidal Martinez, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Trujillo -- Cipriano Trujillo, 71, a long time resident of Albuquerque died Friday, April 21, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Rumalda; son, Jimmy and wife, Darlene; grandson, Eric and wife, Saundra and great-grandson, Evan; son, Larry and wife, Katherine; granddaughters, Lisa and Marissa; and grandson, Larry, Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Orlando; sisters, Stella Garcia, Mollie Constancia, Margie Romero and Josie Sanchez. Cipriano was preceded in death by his father, Demecio, mother, Conferina, brothers, Tony and Mel; and sisters, Martha and Agnes. Cipriano was a 40 year retiree of the Albuquerque Public School System. Cipriano was a Master Gardner who enjoyed the outdoors. Vigil -- J. Lawrence"Larry" Vigil passed away April 22, 2000. He was an active member of Queen of Heaven Parish and loved fishing, hunting, and flying remote control airplanes. Larry was employed by Albuquerque Publishing Company for 35 years and retired in 1991. He is survived by Alice, his beloved wife of 52 years; son, Robert L. Vigil and wife, Rhonda; daughters, Anita Boggs and husband, Gene and Barbara Montoya; his grandchildren, the loves of his life, Robert I. Vigil, Jennifer R. Vigil and husband, Brant Wagener, Katrina Montoya, David Montoya and Richard Montoya; great grandchildren, Jordan Garcia and Jillian Montoya-Cuevas; sisters, Marcella, Irene and Agnes and their beloved spouses; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved and will miss him.
