Brewer -- James (Jim) M. Brewer, MSgt. USAF (Ret), 81, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 22, 1999. A native of Albuquerque since 1952, he was also a member of the American Legion, VFW and DAV. He had received lifetime recognition by the Blue Max Society for his many years of service to the local general aviation community. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. Survivors include his sons Jim and Milt of California and Keith of Albuquerque; two sisters, and a brother in Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by his wife, Marie L. Brewer, in 1991. Visitation is during the hour just prior to the 10:00 a.m. services at the KAFB Chapel on Monday, November 29. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery immediately after the services. Donations, in lieu of sending flowers, may be made in his name to your favorite charity. Clibon -- Helen L. Clibon, 64, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died on Thursday, November 25, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Gene Clibon of the family home; sons, Steve Shope and wife, Anne, and Tony Clibon and wife, Missy, all of Albuquerque; daughters, Judy Shope of Anthony, TX and Danielle Clibon and Betty Clayton and husband, Rick, all of Albuquerque; two sisters, Ruth Shope of Aztec and Bernice Simons of Albuquerque; three brothers, Bill Nelson of T or C, Joe Nelson of Tucson, AZ and James Nelson of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, Kem Shope, Stephanie Shope, Will Clayton, Jenifer Clayton, Joetta Paul, Sarah Stevens, and Melinda Clibon; and great-granddaughter, Shelby McDaniel. Mrs. Clibon was born in Claunch, NM and moved to Albuquerque as a small child. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Crespin -- Virginia M. Crespin, 63, beloved and devoted wife, mother, daughter and grandmother was called home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 25, 1999. Mrs. Crespin was a parishioner of San Ignacio Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Stella Gutierrez; and sister, Ruby Gutierrez. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Crespin of the family home; her loving children, Linda Aragon and husband, Antonio, Christina Dauber and husband, Rick, Franzella Sedillo and husband, Richard, Veronica McWhirter and husband, Thomas, and Ernest Crespin Jr. and wife, Susan; her father, Florival Gutierrez; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Also surviving are six brothers, Leonardo Gutierrez, Benjamin Gutierrez, Ray Gutierrez, Bonitacio Gutierrez, Ofiniano Gutierrez and Anthony Gutierrez; eight sisters, Florence O'Leary, Jessie Marrijo, Annie Sanchez, Christine Montoya, Lisa Romero, Gloria Otero, RoseAnn Evans, Rita Gutierrez; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitation will be today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, located on the corner of 8th and Iron, where a Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. at San Ignacio Catholic Church. Danuser -- Charlie Aline Danuser, 66, of Lamar, MO, passed away at 4:53 p.m. Friday, November 26, 1999 at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, MO. She was born Nov. 18, 1933 in St. Louis, MO to Herbert L. and May (Parker) Fisher. She worked as a cashier at Lamar Wal-Mart, owned investment properties, and worked in real estate management. She attended Grace Christian Assembly. She was baptised Episcopalian. Mrs. Danuser married Richard L. Danuser, Sr. March 15, 1952 at Belle, MO. He survives. Additional survivors include one son, Richard L. Danuser, Jr., Lamar; one daughter, Kathleen Danuser, Tempe, AZ; her mother, May Fisher, Lamar; two sisters, Roxy Jett, Lamar and Phyl Rohlfing, Lamar; and one grandson, Richard L. Danuser III, Lee's Summit, MO. Services will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 1999 at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, MO. Rev. John Dille will officiate. Private Graveside Services will be held at Memory Gardens, Lamar. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home Contributions may be made to the church library of donor's choice. She lived in Lamar eight years, moving from Albuquerque where she lived 30 years.

Hurley -- Mary Hurley, age 88, of Santa Fe, died Monday, November 22, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James R. Hurley, MD. Mary is survived by her son, Jim; daughter, Jane; brothers, Duane and Bobby; sisters, Becky, George and Vera; nephew, Robert; special friend, Foley; and many other loving friends and family. Mary worked proudly most of her life as a nurse after training at St. Elizabeth's in Washington, DC. She lived in Milwaukee until moving to Santa Fe in 1995. Cremation has taken place. Kierst -- Alice Curran Kierst, 84, passed away at her daughter's home in Raton on Thursday, November 25, 1999. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on July 6, 1915, the daughter of John Curran of Glenmor, Ireland and Alice (Shea) Curran of Providence. She graduated from Pembroke College of Brown University in 1937. She was a social worker and teacher. She married David W. Kierst in 1941, who preceded her in death in 1985. She lived in Albuquerque from 1967 until moving to Raton in 1997. She is survived by her large family, to whom she was deeply devoted; one daughter, Katie and her husband, Byrch Williams of Raton; five sons: David and his wife, Julie Kierst of Kansas City, Missouri; Michael and his wife, Margaret Kierst of Arroyo Seco, NM; Gregory and his wife, Cindy Kierst of Rio Rancho, NM; Kevin and his wife KC Kierst of Arroyo Hondo, NM; Peter and his wife, Debra Kierst of Albuquerque, NM; 11 grandchildren: David and his wife, Shannon Kierst, Rachel, Alison, Sarah, Joseph, Noah, and Mary Kathleen Kierst, Nicholas, Elliot, Daniel and Emily Williams; and one great-granddaughter, Abigail Kierst. Alice was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation parish in Albuquerque. She was a dedicated teacher for many years at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School in Albuquerque. She touched and enriched the lives of many students who remember her with great love and respect. The family will receive visitors at Magdalene Hall (the old convent) at Annunciation Church on Thursday, December 2, 1999 from 10:30 am until 11:30 am, to be followed at 11:30 by the celebration of a Funeral Mass in the church. Burial will immediately follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by the Errington Memorial Chapel in Raton, New Mexico.

Kozlowski -- John"Johnnie" Kozlowski, 70, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque died Monday, November 22, 1999. Mr. Kozlowski retired in 1983 from PNM after 30 years of service. He loved many sports, and was an avid golfer. Leverenz -- Evelyn L. Leverenz, 64, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, November 25, 1999. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Richard Leverenz of Albuquerque; son, Martin Shaw and wife, Elizabeth of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Wendy Leverenz Barker and husband, Zane of Albuquerque; sister, Patricia Weegen and husband, Ernie of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous other relatives. Mrs. Leverenz was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Patricia Lucille Porter Latin. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1953. Mrs. Leverenz loved to go to the theater. She loved music and loved to dance when she was able. Mrs. Leverenz received lots of joy in having her family around her when she would prepare dinners. She was a loving wife and mother and all who knew her will miss her beautiful smile. Mcgillan -- Edward Thomas"Mac" McGillan, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Wednesday, November 24, 1999. Montano -- Frank G. Montano passed away on November 21, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josie Montano; and his son, Steve Montano. Frank is survived by his sons, Robert Montano and wife, Theresa of Corrales, and Paul Montano and wife, Julie of Rio Rancho; his daughters, Virginia Montano-Vasquez, Veronica and husband, Andre Ford, all of Pasadena, TX; his brothers, Max Montano and wife, Beatrice, Norman Montano and wife, Josephine, Paul Montano and wife, Gloria, Raymond Montano and wife, Yolanda, and Bennie Montano; his sisters, Alimada Lovato and husband, Louie, Fita Hernandez and husband, Ernie, Mary Martinez and husband, Morris; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and he had many friends in Corrales. He enjoyed farming and was a member of the American Legion Post 69. Frank was a Civil Servant for 34 years at Kirtland Air Force Base. He served in the US Army during WWII. He reenlisted and trained troops for the Korean Conflict. Visitations will be today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Peterson -- Kenneth G. Peterson died Thursday, November 25, 1999 at the age of 73. Mr. Peterson was Professor Emeritus in the Honors Department of the University of New Mexico. He was formerly president of and active in the local chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Willa Shell Peterson; his son and daughter-in-law, Bradley A. Peterson and Lori Taylor of Tucson, Arizona; and granddaughter Bond D. Peterson of Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Renick-Kelton -- Jeanne Renick Kelton died November 26, 1999 and has been cremated. Memorial Services will be held in Belton, Texas. She has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1968. Jeanne was born at home in 1909 in Waco, TX to Samuel Renick and Lota Campbell Renick. She was a member of a well-known Texas pioneering family. She had a life long interest in history and was an officer in Daughter's of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy. She was the the fifth vice president of the Daughter's of the Republic of Texas and served on the board for The Alamo. She was very proud of her work during the Korean War when she was the Flag Chairman and made sure the boys from Texas had an Texas Flag. Jeanne started at the New York School of Design and the Chicago Art Institute. In the 1930's she worked as an artist and had a studio in La Vieta in San Antonio, TX. In the 1960's she owned Kelton's Antiques in the French Quarter in New Orleans. Her lifespan the most profound and signifcant century in human history. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Boyd Johnson and their daughter, Jeanne Renick McDowell and her second husband, Horace Kelton and their son, Paul Bruce Kelton and her granddaughrer, Heather Hickman. She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Kelton-Born of Albuquerque, two sons, Peter Kelton and his wife, Sarah of Albuquerque, Michael Kelton and his wife, Eunice of Virginia Beach, VA; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She gave an appreciation of music, books and laughter to her grandchildren.

Sanders -- Local Albuquerque newscaster and radio personality for 40 years, Gordon E. Sanders died today of an extended illness. Gordon was the news director at KOB-TV from 1971-1979 and Editorialist at KGGM for several years. He ran for Mayor of Albuquerque in both 1981 and 1985. He was the Director of the Albuquerque Film Commission from 1985 to 1989. Mr. Sanders also hosted his own talk show on KZIA Radio for several years. He had been retired since 1994. Gordon Sanders was a man of many talents and interests. He authored a book on the famous Taos artist Oscar Burninghaus. He was an internationally recognized Wine Connoisseur, a stunt pilot and once was a celebrity chef at the Baron of Beef Restaurant in Old Town. Gordon's strong opinions touched the lives of many people who heard him. He was awarded Associated Press"Man of the Year" during the height of his broadcasting career. Gordon was a WWII vet and fought in nine major battles in the South Pacific. Gordon joins Barbara, his wife and professional partner of 25 years in death. He is survived by daughter Penny Sanders of Phoenix, AZ; son, Christopher Sanders of Medford, Oregon; step-sons, Richard and Clayton Rhys Wetherill; brothers, Jim and Calvin Sanders; sister, Sue Sanders; mother, Augusta Sanders. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 1, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Marks-On-The-Mesa Episcopal Church. In lieu of cards and flowers contributions can be sent to the American Cancer Society. Schafer -- Virginia Schafer, 58, an Albuquerque resident since 1962, passed away peacefully at the family home November 25 after a long battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, David R. Schafer; and their children and grandchildren who gave her great joy: Cynthia Schafer, MD and son, Michael Forslund of Greeley, CO, Steve and Angie Schafer and children, Rachel and Kevin of Albuquerque; Tom and Teri Schafer and children Aimee, Kyle, Nathan, Nicholas, and David of Tijeras, NM, Chris and Erin Schafer and children, Meagen Rodriguez, Amber Rodriguez, and Joshua Rodriguez of Albuquerque and Phil and Diane Callow and children, JJ, Matt and Leah of Albuquerque. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Naomi Martin of Fowler, Michigan; and brother and sister, George and Jane Martin of Fowler and E. Lansing, Michigan. Virginia was owner and general manager of ABC Door Co. until her retirement in 1994. She loved the outdoors and was a Master Gardener. Virginia was a talented seamstress and active in the American Sewing Guild. An adventuresome person, she and her husband, David traveled extensively and enjoyed many outings in their RV. Virginia drew strength from her Living Through Cancer support group. The family will receive friends at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE, 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, and on Sunday, November 28 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 29 at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge NE. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Valdez -- Charles (Carlos) Valdez, an Albuquerque resident since 1976, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999. Mr. Valdez was born in Raton, New Mexico on April 30, 1929. He is survived by his wife, Brigitte Valdez of Germany; sons, Frankie Valdez and Marcus Valdez, both of Germany; daughter, Gina Marie Valdez of Vallejo, CA; two granddaughters; brothers, Arthur Valdez and wife, Nancy of Raton, NM and Orlando Valdez and wife, Elizabeth of Albuquerque; sisters, Rosemarie Beilke and husband, Fred of Corrales, NM, Esther Aguilar and husband, Johnnie of Colorado City, CO and Patricia Spears and husband, David of Washington, D.C.; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Valdez served in the US Army Air Corps, the US Air Force, and retired from the US Army in 1975 after over 20 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam and received many decorations and citations during his military service. He served in many capacities, an air traffic controller, air traffic instructor and an air traffic chief. He was a volunteer tax preparer for AARP in several senior centers. He was an active member of the Highland Senior Center. He enjoyed playing pool, winning several pool tournaments. Carlos will be missed by his family and many friends. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 1999 at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd Chapel. Vallejos -- Faye C. Vallejos, 71, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, was called home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 24, 1999. Mrs. Vallejos was born in El Bosque, NM; a resident of Los Lunas; and a member of the Hosanna Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles P. Cave on June 6, 1991. She is survived by her loving husband of three years, Gilbert J. Vallejos of the family home; her loving children, Jim Cave and wife, Christine, Debra Chavez and husband, Cristobal, Donna Ortiz and Deana Gurule; step-children, Corrine Vallejos, Alvin Vallejos, Sylvia Sanchez and husband, Nick, and Jerry Vallejos; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Barbartia Gurule and husband, Damacio; one brother, Joe Gonzales and wife, Lydia; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends. She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
