Anderson -- Paul F. Anderson, 81, died at his Albuquerque home, Monday, March 30, 1998. He is survived by his wife of ten years, Genine Michael Anderson of Albuquerque; daughters, Julie B. Thelen and husband, John of Alameda, CA and Betty (B¥to) J. Carlson and husband, Randy of White Rock, NM; grandchildren, Paul T. Thelen and Bret-Leigh Thelen of Alameda, CA and Kimberly Carlson and husband, Peter Espericueta of Albuquerque; and great-grandson, Victor Paul. Born in New Castle, IN, Paul came to Albuquerque with his mother in 1924. He graduated from Belen High School in 1933 and attended New Mexico State University for two years. Paul graduated from the University of Idaho in 1938, and married Olga Greene of Boise, ID that same year. They lived in Boise and Seattle until moving to Albuquerque in 1950. Olga died in 1969. After working 33 years with the Federal Aviation Administration, Mr. Anderson retired from the Air Traffic Control Center in Albuquerque in 1974. His lingering death was caused by 40 years of smoking. Cremation has taken place and per his wishes, services will be private. Boesenberg -- Charles William Boesenberg. A memorial service will be held for Charles Boesenberg on Friday, April 3, 1998 at Central United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Boesenberg passed away on March 24, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on January 20, 1924 in Camden, OH. Dr. Boesenberg moved his family from Ohio in 1956 and remained in Albuquerqeu for the rest of his life. He practiced podiatric medicine in Albuquerque for 50 years. He was a member of the Elks, Masonic Temple Shrine, Moose Lodge, and past president of the New Mexico Podiatric Medical Association. In his final years he was also active with the Cancer Association, making many trips to the surrounding areas informing people of the dangers of cigarette smoking. Dr. Boesenberg was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Boesenberg on January 12, 1997. He is survived by his daughter, Laura Curto; and two sons, Karl and Kurt Boesenberg. He also has four wonderful grandchildren, Amanda Curto, Rachel and Drew Boesenberg and Sophie Boesenberg. Cremation has already taken place and arrangements by Sunrise Society. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people at Presbyterian Hospice which made his final days more peaceful. We wish all donations be made to Presbyterian Hospice.

Carter -- Anna Frances Davalos Carter, a native of New Mexico, passed away early Sunday morning, March 29, 1998, after a painful struggle with lung cancer. She is survived by her husband, Ray; son, Mike Goodwin; daughters, Cyndi Goodwin and Alyson Kite and husband, Lindsey; sister, Terry Oehm and husband, Hank, all residents of Albuquerque; brother, Jeff and wife, Jo of Tucson, AZ; stepchildren, Becky, Alan, Barbara, and Ray; grandchildren, Jennifer Martinez of Fort Collins, CO, and Brooke Cromwell of Albuquerque; great-grandchild, Joey of Albuquerque; niece, Elena Giacci and husband, Gary; nephew, David Giacci; dog, Mulligan and cats, Wesley and Aggie Doone, also residents of Albuquerque. Although born in Tularosa, Mrs. Carter lived all of her life in Albuquerque. She loved to collect matchbooks, but her passion was collecting owls--her home is a testament to this collection. Mrs. Carter was a loving wife and mother, a good friend, and will be missed by all who knew her. Coon -- Charles Leland Coon, 74, died after a long courageous battle with Lou Gehrigs Disease on Friday, March 27, 1998 at 10:30 p.m. with his loving wife, Carole by his side. Charles was owner/operator of Charles Coon Sign and Lighting for 55 years. He had friends everywhere he went. In the words of his grandson, Dean Cotton,"He was the smartest man I have ever known." Mr. Coon was loved and will be missed by his four children, Charlotte Thomas of Denver, CO, Charles Coon Jr. and wife, Jerra Dee of Albuquerque, Linda Thornton and husband, Neil of Bosque Farms, and Cheryl Kuebrich of Denver, CO. Mr. Coon will also be deeply missed by the mother of his children, Ruth Coon; his step-children, Stephanie, Harry, Allen and Dennis; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom share special memories of him. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to do so can make a contributions to"Friends in Time", who have been so kind during his difficult time. Many thanks to Hospice and the volunteers. Heckman -- Helen C. Heckman, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Monday, March 30, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Floyd Heckman of Albuquerque; daughters, Joan Gentry of Torrance, CA, Nancy Heckman and husband, Raymond of San Jose, CA, Joyce Cooper and husband, Don of El Cajon, CA, and Judy Tye and husband, John of Albuquerque; step-son, Ed Heckman and wife, Lynda of Littleton, CO; grandchildren, Vicky Pohland, Lisa Pearson, Dee Heckman, Eric Heckman, Brian Cooper, and Greg Cooper; great-grandson, Chad Pohland; and brothers, Charles Carlson of Vicksburg, MS and Bill Carlson of Cincinnati, OH. Mrs. Heckman had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1966. She was a gifted artist who loved to share her oil paintings with family and friends, and was also a talented seamstress and tailor. Prior to retiring in 1966, Mrs. Heckman worked as a secretary for several food brokers in Albuquerque. James -- Muriel Ruddy James, 77, an Albuquerque resident since 1953, died Monday, March 30, 1998. Mrs. James was a veteran of WWII, having served with the US Army as a nurse in the European Theatre. She is survived by her sons, Pat James and wife, Cindy of Albuquerque and J. Michael James and wife, Kathy of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Ashley, Cassie, Adam and Katie James; sister, Evelyn Merryman of Hesparia, CA and her sons, Tom and Terry; brother, Edward Ruddy and wife, Iris of Scottsdale, AZ and their children, Sara, Mike and Barbara; and a niece, Kathy Dolan and husband, Bill of Albuquerque. Legendre -- Clarence E. LeGendre, 76, died March 28, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sofie LeGendre of Albuquerque; daughters, Gisela Noddin and husband, Chuck of New Hampshire, Renate Magee of New Hampshire, and Regina Circeo and husband, Bob of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other family and friends. Mr. LeGendre served over 30 years in the U.S. Air Force and he served during World War II and in Vietnam, before retiring in 1973 as a Master Sargent. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 3:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery with Rev. Martin -- Suzie Martin, 46, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, died on Sunday, March 29, 1998. She is survived by her husband, James Martin of the family home; sons, Joseph Martin and Christopher Martin, both of the family home; parents, John and Madelyn Cunico of Raton, NM; mother-in-law, Marj Martin of Cimarron, NM; brothers, Steve Cunico and wife, Marcia of Raton, NM, and John M. Cunico and Jane of New Berlin, WI; sisters-in-law, Tootsie Cheatwood and husband, Larry of Ft. Worth, TX, Paula Cunico and Paul Headley, and Carol Mares and husband, Vince, all of Raton, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Suzie was employed at Southwest Airlines for the past four years. She was the coach of the Albuquerque Track Club and enjoyed working with children. Romero -- Mrs. Vangie"E.V." A. Gilliam-Romero, 51, went home to be with our Lord on March 29, 1998 after a courageous battle with cancer. Vangie was the beloved wife of 1 1/2 years to Robert A. Romero. She is also survived by her loving sons, Joseph A. Segura and fiancee, Serena Beckett and Ray Segura and wife, Lilly; her parents, George and Andrea Gilliam Sr.; sisters, Cathy Sanchez and husband, Levi, Dorothy Sanchez and husband, Steven, Carmen Contreras and husband, Elfego and Ramona Aragon and husband, Richard; three brothers, George Gilliam Jr., John Gilliam and wife, Laura and Fred Gilliam and wife, Laura; one beautiful and special granddaughter, Devin Marie Segura and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sais -- Raymond Sais, 83, a lifelong New Mexico cattle rancher in Socorro County, passed away on March 29, 1998. Raymond was born in Albuquerque on October 20, 1914. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; sister, Cecelia Sais; and by sons, Victor and wife, Terrie, John and wife, Ramona; and daughters, Rose Fernandez and husband, Ron, Margaret Succi and husband, Ken, Mary Angeline Lucero; and ten grandchildren. Raymond graduated from St. Michael's in Santa Fe. Pallbearers are Ron Fernandez Jr., Tony Succi, Kevin Succi, Daniel Sais, Paul Lucero, Carl Lucero and Steve Lucero. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 1998 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary (1100 Coal Ave. SE). VanderSys -- Former Santa Fe businessman, James VanderSys, 86, died at his Rio Rancho home Friday, March 27, 1998, with his wife of 62 years, Ethel, by his side. Born Koos VanderSys on May 8, 1911, in Rotterdam, Holland, his name was changed to James when his family immigrated to the United States in 1915. He attended school in Ferrysberg and Grand Haven, Michigan and grew up enjoying hunting, fishing, swimming, and canoeing on Lake Michigan. Married to Ethel Payne on October 12, 1935, James and Ethel moved to Santa Fe in 1942, where he started the Santa Fe Nursery and Greenhouses. He developed the landscaping for several Santa Fe landmarks, including the Scottish Rite Temple, and volunteered hundreds of hours to maintain the grounds of the Fairview Cemetery. He was an active member of the New Mexico Nurserymen's Association and served for several years as its president. He also ran a Santa Fe bowling alley and spa and was active in several bowling leagues. VanderSys was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Montezuma Masonic Lodge No. 1, Scottish Rite and Shriners. He was preceded in death by a son, Curtis"Butch" VanderSys in 1989. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Sharon Mason of Albuquerque, Richard VanderSys of Rio Rancho, and Pamela Adams of Libby, MT; 12 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lena Camirand and Mae Zynkian of California; two brothers, Bill VanderSys and Ted VanderSys, both of Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 2, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Santa Fe, followed by a Masonic graveside service at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital Fund, in care of the Santa Fe Shrine Club, P.O. Box 1265, Santa Fe, NM 87504.
