Chavez -- Mrs. Valentina S. Chavez, beloved wife, mother, aunt, niece and friend died Sunday, June 17, 2001 in Albuquerque at the age of 63. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her husband, Moises Chavez; sons, Ruben Chavez, Romolo Chavez, Juan Jose Chavez, Moises F. Chavez, and Juan R. Chavez, all of Albuquerque; daughters, Elizabeth Brill and husband, Robert of Denver, CO, and Laura Chavez of Albuquerque; sisters, Josefita Gutierrez of Albuquerque, Melba Sanchez of Grants and Nancy Garcia of Albuquerque; and eight grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Chavez will be held on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Brill, Anthony Brill, Dominic Chavez, Juan R. Chavez, Juanita Chavez and Johnny Carrillo. Yribe -- Mr. George (Cuco) A. Yribe Jr., 47, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on June 14, 2001. George is survived by one son, George A. Yribe III; ten sisters, Sylvia Castro of Tucson, AZ, Gina Yribe of Tucson, AZ, Elvia Yribe of Tucson, AZ, Nellie Franco, Irene Sanchez, Rachel Armijo and husband, David, Betty Griego and husband, John, Mary Ochoa and husband, Marcos, Anita Garcia and husband, Sammy and Barbara Malaney and husband, Steven; three brothers, Albert Yribe and wife, Leticia of Tucson AZ, Ricky Yribe and wife, Dolores of Tucson, AZ and Mario Yribe of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. George was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sammy Garcia Jr., John Griego, Chris Tapia, Steven Franco, Joseph Chavez, and Pete Michael Perea. Honorary Pallbearers will be Reyes Chavez and Rick Turrietta. Zamora -- Teresa Gurule Zamora, 98, a resident of Peralta, peacefully joined our Lord on Friday, June 15, 2001. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Teresa was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary National Unit of Albuquerque. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Juan B. Gurule in 1967; her second husband, Pablo Zamora in 1996; her grandson, Joseph Aragon in 1969; two sisters, Sucena Michaelbach and Maria Apodaca; one brother, Ramon Garcia; and one son-in-law, Pete E. Torres. She is survived by her four loving children, Eligia Torres of Belen, Joe G. Gurule and his wife, Bertha, Luge G. Aragon and her husband Joe W., all of Peralta, Vangie Molina and her husband, Herminio P. of Jarales; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Isabel Stubblefield of Los Lunas, Libby Padilla, Senaida Chavez, Celia Gurule, and Ofelia Perea, all of Albuquerque, and Gladys Baca and her husband, Jake of Peralta. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2001 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2001 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta with Interment following at the Valencia Cemetery. Roybal -- Alejandro (Alex) Roybal went into the loving arms of our Lord on June 13, 2001, surrounded by all his loving family. Alex is survived by his loving wife, Elisa Proo Roybal of 53 years; by his children, Rosita Roybal Gallegos and husband, Michael, Carlos Roybal, and Alex Roybal and wife, Rebecca; his six grandchildren; and his brother, Arturo Jimenez and sister, Esther Collado. He is also survived by his special sisters-in-law, Margie Proo and Annie Jimenez; and by many special nieces, nephews and friends. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Jimenez and father, Alejandro Roybal; his brother, Albert and special sister-in-law, Mary Lou Roybal; and his sisters, Amy Chavez and Clara St. Laurent. Memorial Services for Mr. Roybal will be held on Saturday at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

Aragon -- Edith Aragon, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1923, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2001. Edith was born on April 15, 1918, in Alamillo, NM to Isabel Cordova Aragon and Telesfor Aragon. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses; Georgia Chavez and husband, Eugene, Felipe Gonzales and wife, Bersabe, Rose Costales and husband, Nestor, Bernice Costales and husband, William, and Oralia (Lala) Gonzales, Portland, OR; special aunts, Alicia Baca and Ida Moya; many nieces and nephews; and by a very special neighbor and friend, Frances Armijo. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and step-father, Pablo Gonzales. Edith worked at Presbyterian Hospital for 28 years, University Heights Hospital for 9 years, and retired from Cornucopia Adult Care Center. Edith was a member of El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church. Services will be held in her honor on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, 10:00 a.m., at El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, 700 Granite Avenue NW, with Reverend Jesus Bermudez officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her godchildren, Sammy Aragon, Jr., Jeanette Bame, Benjie Moya, Angela Marie Gonzales, Aaron Pennington, and Becky Costales for Sarah Bame. Aragon -- John (TaTa) Aragon, born August 26, 1922 in Montoya, New Mexico passed away June 9, 2001 one week after his partner for 62 years, Lillian passed away. Tata passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; daughter's Mary Lillian Aragon Garcia, Evangeline Aragon, his parents, Jose Piedad Aragon, Apolinara Aragon, brothers, Benito, Charlie, Joe Aragon, sisters, Carmen Montoya and Corrine Baca. He is survived by sons, John and wife, Agnes and Eddy and wife, Frances; grandchildren, Randy Garcia, Joe (Dino) Garcia, Jamie Aragon, Mary Lillian Aragon, and fiance, Leonard Sanchez, Edward Aragon, Jr. and finance, Jessica Ramos, Antoinette Trujillo and husband, Nathan, Jimmy Lopez, Annette Martinez and husband Danny; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucy Salas, Selsa Chavez and husband, Margarito, Celina Rivera and husband, Frank, Mary Jane Alire and husband, Casey; brothers, Mike Aragon and wife, Theo, Florencio Aragon and wife, Carmen, Raymond Aragon and wife, Margie, Rudy Aragon and many nieces and nephews. Tata, worked hard from the time he was 10 years old. He had to work to help support his brothers and sisters. He would take care of sheep all alone in the Mountains. Worked for the WPA with a fake ID when he was 16. When his country called he went leaving behind his pregnant wife. He was in the 7th Army, 106th Infantry in France and Germany, where he was wounded. When he came home he worked various jobs. Until he went to work as an Ironworker for Local #495 he retired in 1975 with 32 years as an Ironworker. Like many of the Greatest Generation, Family was not only first it was everything. He loved to cook, especially breakfast on Sunday mornings after church when he would make tortillas, eggs and chile. John and Lillian were always together until his Parkinson's got so bad that he had to stay with his sons. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Charles, the 40 & 8, and VFW #401. His patience, compassion and love for those around him will never be forgotten. Dad, Tata we will miss you and think of you always. When people ask us who was the Greatest Person they have known those who knew you will say Juan Aragon, for your love & kindness, and courage. Service arrangements are pending and will be announced. Pallbearers: Eddy Aragon Jr., Jamie Aragon, Nathan Trujillo, Mike Aragon Jr., Dean Garcia, Randy Garcia, Jimmy Lopez. Chavez -- Trinidad Joe Chavez, 79, was called home to be with the Lord on June 5, 2001. He was a proud member of the DAV, Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Geraldine Chavez; and brother, Fred Chavez. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Apolonia Chavez; three sons, Eloy Chavez, Tim Chavez and wife, Julie, Gil Chavez all of Albuquerque; six daughters, Shirley Maestas and husband, Joe of Louisville, Colorado, Elenore Rivera of Albuquerque, Connie Cervantes and husband, Richard of Laffette, Colorado, Cindy Jaramillo and husband, Micheal of Albuquerque, Gloria Vigil and husband, Norman of Albuquerque and Elaine Chavez; two brothers, Mike and wife, Lucy of Albuquerque, Ruben and wife, Dora of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two sisters, Mary Nolan and husband, Manuel of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Annie Trujillo and husband, Joe of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. A Rosary will be recited on Monday evening June 11, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning June 12, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at Sangre De Christo Catholic Church. Internment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Moya -- 1954-2001. Ramon Moya, also lovingly known as 'Uncs", 47, a resident of Peralta, passed away on Thursday June 7, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Jesus and Manuelita Moya; his sisters, Josephine Trillo and husband, Jose, Margaret Moya, Jessie Vallejos and husband, Raymond, and Mary Lou Sandoval and her husband, Thomas; his brothers, Placido Price and wife, Isabel and George Price and wife, Mary Ann; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. led by his aunt, Nora Moya. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday June 11, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe with Father Albert Gallegos officiating. Burial will follow in the Peralta Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at their home located at 54 Peralta Blvd. Pallbearers will be Billy Chavez, Kevin Chavez, Nathaniel Davila, Andrew Price, Charles Price, and Allen Culvey.
