Brandzel -- Frieda"Fritzi" Greene Dunn Gans Brandzel died early Thursday, August 8, 2002, at Laurel View Nursing Center in Albuquerque. She was 87 years old. Nana Fritzi was the classic Jewish mother. She wanted all her children and grandchildren to be perfect. She nagged and laid on guilt-trips all the time. She was never, ever happy with the way the girls' hair looked, even though they looked great, and she wasn't sure any of her sons-in-law were making good livings, even though they were. Fritzi was a very generous person. She wanted the best for her friends and family. There was never a dull moment with her around. She loved singing in her group, playing mahjong, eating in restaurants, and cruising the high seas. She lived most of her life in Chicago, Illinois, much of that in the suburb of Lincolnwood. In later years, she spent about half of her time in Hallandale, Florida. Fritzi was married three times; first to Bernard Dunn, the father of her three children. After his untimely death in 1969, she then married Morrie Gans. After his death, she married Irving Brandzel, who survives her and resides in Encino, Calif. Her sons Norman and Randall Dunn sadly preceded her in death. Fritzi is survived by her daughter, Madeline Dunn Williams and her son-in-law, Richard Williams of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Ronit Robinson of Baton Rouge, LA., Dina Dogin, and Abra Altman, of Albuquerque; her grandsons-in-law, Josh Dogin and Brandon Altman, of Albuquerque; and her new great-granddaughter, Hannah Rose Robinson of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by sister, Edythe Futterman; brother, M. Howard Greene, both of Chicago; sister, Ruth Schwarz of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; sister, Margelee Ruby of Southfield, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Sidney Greene of Lincolnwood, Illinois.
