Obituary for Coulthurst

Lawrence J. Coulthurst, 100, a resident of Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, NM since 1969 passed away Saturday, June 22, 2002 at Manzano del Sol. He is survived by his sons, Lawrence J. Coulthurst, Jr. of Long Valley, NJ, John Coulthurst of Berkeley, CA, James J. Coulthurst of Boise, ID; daughter, Jean Alice Coulthurst of Portland, OR; niece, Carolyn J. Epling of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was born in San Diego, CA in 1901 and graduated from Stanford University in 1924. At Stanford, he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, played varsity basketball, centerfield on the baseball team and batting cleanup. A registered professional engineer, Director and Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, he was Senior Consultant for Foster Wheeler Corp. He was also a resident of Plainfield, NJ from 1941 - 1969, where he was a Past President of the Plainfield Community Concert Assoc., Treasurer of the Plainfield Musical Club and a member of the Netherwood Tennis Club. He was also a former member of the Rio Rancho, NM Country Club, where he served as President of the Men's Golf Assoc. and where he shot his age numerous times. Cremation has occurred.
