Obituary for Bryant

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday August 11, 2002

Bobbie M. Bryant, 70, longtime resident of Los Alamos, NM, and erstwhile summer resident of Brooks, ME, died on August 8, 2002. She is survived by husband, Ernest; daughter, Colleen; son, Conrad; and sister, Elfreda Egger. Bobbie was born in Niles, CA, spent early years in San Francisco, went to Albuquerque High School and met Ernest while attending the University of New Mexico. She worked at the VA Hospitals in St. Louis while her husband attended graduate school. While in Los Alamos Bobbie was active in Cub Scouts, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Los Alamos Historical Society and the Habitat for Humanity. Loving wife and mother, gourmet cook, seamstress, musician and skier she delighted in writing to her friends, especially those with problems, and to her three"adopted daughters" in Peru and Chile. Bobbie was addicted to reading; she loved to read biographies, mysteries, and adventure stories and often read four books per week. During her 17-year LANL career she worked with data management and computer operations in a nuclear weapons design group. Late in life she learned to play the baritone horn (but was too shy to share her accomplishment with others). Bobbie will be remembered as a unique individual and caring friend by those who knew her. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be directed to"Visiting Nurse Service of Los Alamos, 116 Central Park Square, Los Alamos, NM 87544" or to"Dr. D B Evans, The U. of Tx. M D Anderson Cancer Center, Dept of Surg. Oncol., 1400 Holcombe Blvd, Box 444, Houston, TX, 77030, marked 'for Pancreatic Cancer Research'". A memorial service in celebration of Bobbie's life will be held at the White Rock Baptist Church, 80 State Rd 4, Los Alamos at 11:00 a.m. on August 22, 2002.
