TRUXILLO, CHARLES A. DR. (PROFESSOR) born on May 2, 1953, passed away on February 4, 2015. Dr. Truxillo was a leader of a local Hispano Nationalist Movement seeking independence from the U.S. He was an author in history with published works, "By the Sword and the Cross; Periods of World History and The Moro Wars in the Philippines in the Context of the Ibero-Islamic World War." He was an expert in Spanish Colonial History, World War II and Islam. A true and dynamic revolutionary for justice and social change. We can only hope there will rise an intellect that can take his place. As Dr. Truxillo would say, "by any means necessary." He will be dearly missed. Rest in peace for we shall fight on. He is survived by his mother Marcella Trujillo; brother John M. Trujillo and wife Jessie; his sister Celina Baca; brother Aquiles Trujillo and wife Shannon; his nieces Cesare, Pilar, Sophie, Emma and Andalucia; his nephews Roman and Aquiles; and great-nephew Javier; his friends Robert A. Gutierrez, Richard Miller, Eloy Garcia, David Montoya, Steve Martinez, Michael Gienger, Michael Woodul, Bob Salazar, Michael Chavez and Noberta Fresquez. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Guadalupe Candelaria and his father Charles Trujillo. Dr. Truxillo's life celebration will begin with a Rosary on Tuesday, February 10th at 7pm and a Tridentine Mass on Wednesday, February 11th at 10am. Both services will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Barelas. Pallbearers will be Richard Miller, Mark Lopez, Phil Saiz, Simon Vasquez, Roman Romero and Jacob Salazar.

NOLEN, GLENNA JEAN a longtime resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 30, 2015. She was born to Jack Nolen and Farris Nichols Nolen in Wichita Falls, TX on October 15, 1928. She was raised by Farris and a wonderful stepfather, Franz Taylor. Glenna graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1947. In 1948, while working for an insurance company downtown, she met Bob, a University of New Mexico senior and World War II Vet, through a mutual friend. They were married on November 19, 1948 at Central Methodist Church at Central and Arno. At the age of 32, while working in the Business Office at Texas Wesleyan College in Ft. Worth, TX, Glenna was encouraged by the President of the College to pursue her longtime dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. With grants and much hard work, she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She taught brilliantly for 25 years in schools in Ft. Worth, Grand Junction, and St. Charles and Sunset Mesa in Albuquerque and then retired after many years at Edgewood Elementary. She loved the kids and they loved her. Glenna is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Nancy; son, John; granddaughters, Wendy and April; three great-grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, and Patricia; and seven great-great-grandchildren; a younger sister, Priscilla Turner of Pound Ridge, NY; and a very special cousin, though they were raised like sisters, Wanda Isenberg, of Crowley, TX, all of whom she loved very much. Cremation has taken place and the Memorial Services will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Central United Methodist Church, 201 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, where she was a longtime member of the Partnership Class. LORIO, GEORGE D.D.S. George Lorio D.D.S. a longtime resident of Los Alamos, passed away peacefully at El Castillo on Saturday, January 24, 2015 surrounded by the prayers of beloved friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio Paul and Clara Lorio. George was born November 13, 1936 in David, Panama. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 47 years, Kathy: his children, Krista (Mike) of Minneapolis, MN, Michael (Mikal) of Wilsonville, OR, Kevin (Joletta) of Hood River, OR and Christopher of Norfolk, VA.; his beloved sisters Clarita Collins, Elvira (Gilbert) Luna and his only brother Alvaro Lorio, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He held a special place in his heart for his three beautiful granddaughters, Jensen, Kyra and Emma. At the age of 14 George moved to Louisiana, the birthplace of his father, to attend Holy Cross Junior High School in New Orleans. After graduating from High School, George joined the Air Force and spent three years in Lake Charles, LA and one year in London where he worked as an X-Ray technician. He attended college at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA and completed dental school at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where he met his wife, Kathy. In 1967, George rejoined his sister, Elvira, and brother-in-law, Gilbert Luna, in Los Alamos where he set up his dental practice and worked for thirty-three years before retiring in 2000. He loved his patients and cherished his staff who were so loyal to him. George enjoyed exploring the beaches of Mexico, Costa Rica and the archipelagos of Panama. The last seven summers of his life he spent with Kathy in Hood River, OR., where he marveled at the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge and watched his granddaughters grow up. Everyone who knew him was blessed to know such a kind and gentle soul. A prayer service and celebration of his life will be held in the Community Room in the River Bldg. at El Castillo, 250 East Alameda Street, Santa Fe, NM on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM. CHAMPAGNE, JANE CLAIR Jane peacefully left this earth on January 31, 2015. She was born on March 3, 1945, in Manhattan, Kansas to Margaret Atkin Champagne and Charles Champagne, who preceded her in death. She grew up in Baton Rogue surrounded by lots of relatives. Survivors include the love of her life, Donald C. Stone; her brothers, Jimmy and his wife, Darlene, Billy; and a wide circle of people who cherish the good times they shared with their generous friend Jane. She loved to learn, evidenced by her degrees in English from Louisiana State University, and undergraduate and master degrees in special education from the University of New Mexico, as well as a Master's Degree from Arizona State University in labor relations. She had two accomplished and fulfilling careers as a special education teacher: a year as a Vista teacher in northern New Mexico and as Head Mistress at Brush Ranch, and finally Jane served as a labor relations consultant. Jane was flown by helicopter to the deep sea water rigs operated by Mobil and British Petroleum to consult with their crews. A farewell memorial will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Home Instead and Harmony Home Health and Hospice for their loving care in her final days. GORDON, NATHANIEL L. Age 82, passed away on January 18, 2015. He is survived by daughter Melissa Gordon Pitts (Kevin); son Zachary Hill (Shirley); granddaughter Shemaria; grandson Kadeem; sister Joyce Fortune; brother Charles Powell (Barbara); companion Thais Hill; and a host of relatives and friends. GAIK, EUGENE WALTER Major, US Army, Retired; age 58 of Albuquerque, NM passed away on 18 January, 2015 from complications due to ALS. He is survived by three children, Alison Gaik and Natalie Gaik of Albuquerque, NM, and Russell Gaik of Denver, CO; his parents, Dawn and Gene Gaik of Huntley, IL; and his sisters, Glorianne DeJure (and family) of Saint Charles, IL and Betsy Dowse (and family) of Menomonee Falls, WI. Gene attended Western Illinois University where he was active in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He spent 24 years on active duty in the Army as a Military Police Officer and deployed to Saudi Arabia with Operation Desert Storm. Upon retirement from the Army, he was a successful realtor in Albuquerque. Gene served the Albuquerque community as an active member of the Del Norte Rotary Club, serving as President from July 2013 to July 2014. Gene's love for his children, his leadership, ready wit and humor, optimism, and love of life will be greatly missed by his friends, family, loved ones, and all who benefited from knowing him. SANCHEZ, MARIA ARSELLIA TRANCOSA, "SALLY" was born October 6, 1921 in Curry, New Mexico. On Friday, January 30, 2015, she went to be with our Lord and her husband Jesse; mother, Carmen and father, Pete Trancosa; sons, Ray Flores and Michael Flores; daughter, Lydia Flores; granddaughter, Athena; sisters, Gloria Trancosa, Emily Chavez, Reyna Galindo, Helen Garcia and Dorothy Trancosa. She is survived by her children, Linda Flores L'Esperance, Gilbert Flores and wife Sue, Charles Sanchez, Sharon Sanchez, Darlene Rowe and Ralph Flores; cherished great granddaughter, Eden Quintana; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Hope Galvan; Little Peanut, who brightened her day; as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss her greatly. Sally worked at Wool Worth downtown 4th St, for many years and then went to work for K-Mart for over 25 years, where she retired. Sally owned and managed Oak Corral Trailer Park for over 30 years all by herself. The family would like to specially thank Richard, Sally's grandson, for always helping to take care of the trailer park until his health would no longer allow it. Sally will be remembered for her love of her family and how she enjoyed bingo and slots. Many of the workers at Isleta Casino knew Sally and our family would like to thank Manny and all of the workers there. Thank you to Arlene for caring for our mother and making her the happiest even in her last days of life. Like mom would say, you were her angel. Thank you to Linda's granddaughters, Sabrina and Julie for helping with their great grandma; Sabrina always gave mom a cross on the forehead every day she came by to see her. To Charles, Sandra and Debbie, thank you for always being there when you were so needed and to all the Mora family for their help and support. A special thank you to Sally's daughter Linda for taking such good care of your mother till her last day, a job well done. We are going to miss mom. The pain will take a long time, but I know in God we will all be together one day. Mom, your just on vacation! We love you! Mom was a lovely mother who brought us up all by herself and took care of all of her children like no other mother could. She did everything for her children and grandchildren, and then some. I will miss my bingo buddy, my friend, my mom; you did not go alone you took part of me. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will then take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE. HATFIELD, JEANNINE DEE Age 81 years old, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1969, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Mrs. Jeannine Hatfield was preceded in death by her husband TSGT Charles Hatfield. She was very fond of being in nature and working in her home garden. She was also an avid supporter of animal rescue and donated regularly to the ASPCA and the local Animal Humane Society. She also generously contributed regularly to the National Law Enforcement Fund, (NLEOMF). If friends desire to, memorial contributions may be made to any of these three listed foundations. Mrs. Jeannine Hatfield will be laid to rest beside her husband in a niche located at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A private service will take place for immediate family. SHIPLET, DONNA MAY (SMITH) Age 67, passed away with her daughters by her side on January 26, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM due to complications with pneumonia. Donna was born on April 18, 1947 in Clayton, NM to George and Winifred Smith. She grew up in Tucumcari, NM and graduated from The University of New Mexico in 1969 with a degree in Education. She married Charles Wayne Shiplet in 1970. Donna was a teacher for six years and then dedicated her life to her family. She helped her husband build his Veterinary business, Thunderbird Animal Clinic and volunteered her time to girl scouts, Eldorado High School cheerleading, New Mexico Ballet Company, Lana's School of Dance, and special education classrooms. Donna was a creative person and loved working on multiple crafts. Her biggest joy in life was her two daughters, her family, and friends and was known for doing anything for them. Donna is survived by her daughters, Keri Shiplet and Jennifer Dodrill (Brad); and her grandson, Jayden Dodrill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne (2005). A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at First Christian Church, 10101 Montgomery NE 87111, with a reception to follow.
